View Full Version : PC Version Crash When Loading

pcline85
October 21st, 2008, 07:59 PM
Hi, whenever I try to load a game and or practice...the game crashes to the desktop everytime. I have no problems in the menu, it runs smoothly on each graphics setting. Just when I try to play it crashes.

Here is a screenshot of what I see before the loading begins, and a shot of pregame videos.

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc55/pcline85/nba2k9.jpg

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc55/pcline85/nba2k9_loading.jpg

After that, the pregame loading begins with the spotlight players and videos. However once the videos begin, the screen is the same colors as the ones in the background at team select.

Any tips?

**EDIT** I also experience the crash when going to edit/create player.

3ghz ram? that makes no sense... if you are using INTEL display card you're probably crashing cause you dont have pixel shader 3.0

keith8910
October 21st, 2008, 10:34 PM
where can i download pixel shader 3.0 ?

pcline85
October 21st, 2008, 10:48 PM
Pixel Shader 3.0 is built into your GPU.

I have PS 3.0 on my card, so not sure if that's my problem or what.

Have a look at this thread: http://2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191325
We noticed that it's most probably a cpu related problem, since we all have an AMD XP. This means we can't do anything (and you don't need to do anything like patching your gfx card etc.) but wait for a official patch.

Some older machines that have AMD dual core processors may experience problems running the game. If you have such a system, you should first visit the AMD website and obtain the latest processor drivers. You should only install this driver if you are confident that it is appropriate for your system (i.e. you have an AMD dual core processor).

I saw it on the ''Readme''!

Could XP be the problem? I am gonna go test the game on another pc, which is still xp but the cpu is newer (dual core), so ill see how that goes.

pcline85
October 25th, 2008, 10:55 PM
Well that's similar to what I did, my fiance has a stock laptop from Best Buy with Vista Home Basic. I was able to run 2K9 on it to where I can play it comfortably...but yet I can't run Combat Arms (Free FPS) on it to save my life. Yet on my PC...I can run Combat Arms balls to the wall lol.

So definitley if you can, give that a shot.

Ok, I tested the game on the other pc, which has an AMD dual core, 2gb ram and an 8600gt and it works fine all settings maxed.

Im guessin this is a SSE2 issue? There was no mention of it in the requirements though, so i dunno. The game looks great thought, too bad I wont really get to play it unless we get a patch.

yeah, everything updated.

video driver downloaded from nvidia site (ver. gforce 178.24)
.net framework updated

I don't know why this is happening every time I play the game. Sometimes I can play about 2qtrs 5mins/q. Then the game will crash.

Hi, whenever I try to load a game and or practice...the game crashes to the desktop everytime. I have no problems in the menu, it runs smoothly on each graphics setting. Just when I try to play it crashes.

Looking at your pics, it look like it crashes on the video / transition part of the start screen. This is usually indicative of a codec issue.

Dowload the lastest codec drivers and see if that resolves your issues.

Good luck
