Like most AMD dual core users I was getting random reboots ingame. Because of this I was not able to finish a game. Event Viewer showed no events after this happened. I tried many different possible fixes.

loosened memory timings.
switched from dual channel to single channel as I thought it might be a ram error.
messed with the config file in the saves folder.
Tried different graphic settings from low to ultra high
tried my onboard sound and put sound acceleration to basic.

After awhile I started to assume to this was due to timing issues with multi core processors. I started my game alt+tabbed to desktop and set the nba2k.exe affinity to run off only 1 core. After I did this I tested and played 3 full games with ZERO issues.

me setup consists of

AMD x2 5400 overclocked @ 3.2ghz
ATI Radeon HD3870 overclocked
2gb Gskill DDR2 800 ram @ stock timings
Biostar A740G AM2 mobo
Antec trio power 650w PSU

The problem with this is I was able to run everything maxed 8xAA 16xAF. Because it's only utilizing 1 core I have AA and AF disabled because the frames dropped down to 25fps instead of the usual 60-80

I hope someone at 2k reads this and it helps them put out a patch faster.

Question:

Have those of you who are experiencing random reboots while using an overclocked system tried running their CPU, RAM and/or video cards at their default non-overclocked speeds? I you haven't done so, try and then see if you still have issues.
