As it has come to my attention a lot of new PC gamers aren't too familiar with their PC's.

Repost of indiegente12's 360 buttons file. Which I use, eliminates having to follow these instructions except; getting texmod running steps 1-4. After when in package mode, select the name of the file contained in the following upload.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O24GOHKA

I have created these easy to use instructions to setup different icons or graphics within the game.

Steps to setup 360 or PS3 Buttons on PC

1. Go to google.com type "texmod download" and google it. Find one of the first results that has a download.
2. Next create a new folder on your desktop, and unzip the texmod download to this folder.
3. Double click the texmod.exe, when it opens click "logging mode"
4. At the top where it says target application, click the button and select the folder where your nba2k9.exe is located and select it.
5. Make sure output format is "PNG" and Log with "F5." For the output folder it should default to a folder called out inside the folder where texmod.exe is.
6. Click Run!
7. Once the game loads, go to "Game Modes", "Practice", and "Plays", it does not matter what team you select just start the practice.
8. Once the practice starts make sure you can see all 5 players and press the Icon Pass button.
9. After you press that use the "+" and "-" keys to scroll thru to your last image, which will look like this http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5922/originaltn5.png with a grey background. When you see this press "F5" and then press "Alt, F4" to quit.
10. Go to the output folder inside where your "texmod.exe" is located. You will now see a .png picture right click it then click edit, paint or some other program will open.
11. Copy this image(right click and copy)http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/2672/roundedzw0.png then paste it into the file that is open in paint or other program.
12. Save the file and close the program.
13. Open texmod.exe (check that your in the "Package Build" tab) again make sure the target application is NBA 2k still and for definition file navigate to the Out folder where the picture is and select the texmod.log file.
14. Click build and give your file a name like "360 buttons" so you know what it is.
15. Still in texmod, click "Package Mode" click the folder to the right of Package Name, and select the 360 buttons file you just saved(should be located in the texmod.exe folder.)
16. Click run, and your done!

For finding where the nba2k9.exe is located, use the search feature and find the nba2k9.exe. To find where your .png file is look in texmod.exe under logging and check where the output folder is. Located in the output folder is your .png file.

When you are in practice mode, after you press the player icon button, by using the "+" and "-" you scroll thru images which appear on the left hand side of the screen. You press "f5" when you see an image similar to the one I posted in the instructions.

Doesn't this still require something other than the Steam version of the EXE?

My God you're trying to expose this community to Texmod? Most of these people who are complaining about this will never have the desire to actually put the effort in required to do this, even if you did provide step by step instructions. They just want 2K to patch it so they don't have to think about it anymore.

But anyway thank you for providing the fixed buttons labels, I'll go home and do this tonight. I've used Texmod a ton for Madden 08.

Can you just e-mail me the .tpf file? Something like that should work from game to game, at least it's worth a try. mva5580@yahoo.com

I go to game modes, practice, plays...
I see all 5 players, I press "Icon Pass" button.
I press "+" and "-" calmly at first... and without any results, I furiously press like a madman... still nothing. No images to "scroll" thru on the left hand side or anywhere on the screen. Press F5 anyway, then Alt+F4, see that there is no output in the folder.
(Yes, TexMod is running in the background with settings as described in above post.)

To the majority of the users: yes I will upload my .tpf file later to make this simpler.

To xStormsWarningx: Yes Jao created a guide, but it is not step by step like mine is, I really don't know how you could miss that, anyhow have fun hating on those who try harder.

Thanks man.

Would you also be able to do so for the minature icons in the game that also refer to b1, b2, etc...?

Maybe you can setup a little paypal donation page, so we can donate a buck or two for your hard work :)

A couple of things, this is only a temporary mod as you have to use texmod to load modifications. Shoes, Stadiums, etc. will be upgraded in time. I ask to try to be patient and who knows you maybe happy for the wait. "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE." -Kevin Garnett

Here is a link for the .tpf file (http://www.filefactory.com/file/8d8239/n/360_buttons_tpf)

You shouldn't have to go thru all this to calibrate this controller to work. it should work right from the box. Unreal.

Not to sound like a complete idiot, but what will this .tpf file allow me to do with Texmod with regards to changing the button icons? I don't see anything in the original directions that reference a .tpf file so I don't know how i'm supposed to use this file to get the buttons changed.
