I don't know the details as your post is vague however, I have installed this game twice. I know realize that the second attempt is a bit tricky

1. Start steam and force update it. (File, Check for steam client updates). The reason for this is simple, steam has updates of it's own and you need to make sure you have the latest version of steam. Make sure the NBA 2K9 cd is not in the cdrom drive!

2. Place NBA 2K9 cd into the cd-rom. It should start the auto install process. However when you get a chance go back to steam and force update again to make sure you have 2K9 update.

3. Continue with 2K9 installation. If it ask you for cdkey exit out of the installation process and force update steam again (via instruction #1)

4. Go to your cd directory and start setup.exe

At this point it should auto start without cd-key

I think it's another outside US problem...
I've proved this in another thread that no-activation-code fix for steam is only available thru an USA IP.

You are correct. If you ordered the PC title in the US and are playing it outside, please call 415-507-7750. Thanks.

But what is the point of calling this number? This guy named Christian never answers his phone or returns any calls!! I think the only viable solution is for 2K Sports to provide us with product codes, don't you think?

Why not call them, leave a message and wait at least 48 hours for a return call.

Did you leave a message (the no anger type of message)?
How long have you waited for a return call?

Nope, no anger in my message, politely asked him to call me back as soon as possible. First message was left last Wednesday!

Well, I called the US Support Phone number today (1-866-219-9839). I was told they are aware of the problem, and are working on a "fix" for those of us who are not in the USA. The fix should be available in the next 24-48 hours. Was not told what the fix would actually be, though. I hope they didn't lie to me!!

Ok 2k came through for everyone in the US in less than 24-hours. We have to give them credit for that. i actually returned from classes just 10 minutes ago and called the 415-479-3634 and got someone on the line. This number is the same as Christian's number but it's the operator, she knows NOTHING. She told me that Christian is the ONLY customer service rep that works for 2ksprots and deals with these problems. I called this guy six million times, left messages and no return. I'm sure he knows the situation though and I have confidence in 2ksports in coming to a quick solution within the next day or two. Let's be hopeful and pray that we see a final solution sent through. I can't wait to install the game. Let's keep each other posted. Gd lk.

Thanks for the update. I hope so too. Very frustrating to have a game sitting in front of you and not able to play it!! Especially when you hear that the game looks and plays great on the PC!

Excellent! I hope this is true. Although if we get it working my exam prep will be pretty ordinary

Here is the latest. Christian from 2K Sports finally responded to my e-mails. He sent me a CD key, which worked like a charm!! So I have the game installed!

Hopefully you guys who contacted him via e-mail will get a response (with a CD key) from him very soon.

If you have not sent an e-mail to him, please do so at: customerservice@2ksports.com.
