I agree with Hopkins. This is a bad style match up for Calzaghe. Roy will neutralize Joe from throwing tons of crazy punches with his sharp punching and his power. He's gonna make Joe leery about letting his hands go and he's gonna hit Joe with punches that Joe won't see coming and they are the ones that hurt you. I'm picking Jones by an easier than expected UD.
HOPKINS VS. JONES 2! SPRING OF 2009!

agreed paton
well tonight is almost here and i just feel this will be GOD's buissness to see roy win tonight...ill be recording the fight right after the hopkins vs pavlik fight. I saw both roy vs hopkins fight & even back then i saw two special fighters....that fight was unbelivable to me and soon, very soon, they will meet again......both guys went threw rough roads, but i feel they were both watching each other very close & they both have so much respect for each other...me & my uncle had this debate for to long now between hopkins & roy, i hope that me & him can finally end this war weve had as well..........
roy jones jr vs bernard hopkins 2009.....
edit
i grew up watching hopkins, he's all i saw back then till now ....ray robinson is the best fighter ever, but hopkins was my time & thats why i feel he's the greatest of all time.

Calzaghe by knock out.
Roy is Good but he is past his prime, plus he would lose to Joe anyway if he fought Joe at his prime.
Hopkins greatest of all time? please..greatest at punching and holding right away and getting away with it his whole carrier.
he is definitely great ring technician, but if he was not allowed to punch and hold right away not giving an opponent chance to punch back and getting a warning for excessive holding he would not make it to great status.
he did give Pavlik a lesson and he was not holding as much as he did with Calzaghe.
Calzaghe by late round stoppage unless of course biased American refs will allow Roy to hold with no warnings..either way i pick Calzaghe, its close fight either way though.

stop being a MEDIA FAN...hopkins in his 20 title defence was all about the great in-ring boxing (throw back ray robinson), best boxing ive ever seen. Im a tecnical fan of boxing & hopkins along with roy & james toney are the greatest....oh, add in floyd jr as well....So your saying hopkins held his way pass 20 middle weight title defences, COMON jr stop getting caught up with MIDIA BOXING...leave the TV alone & do your homework on hopkins....dont watch his fights TODAY, go back to the eckols fights....and if hopkins holds, then call him the greatest holder of all time cause others have tried to hold as well but could never do it like hopkins......

shidio i am very well aware of Hopkins fights and yes he has gotten away his whole carrier with punching and holding right away..again if you read my post i said that he was GREAT ring technician, yet if he was warned like he suppose to be for excessive holding he would not turn out to be as good as people say he is.
sure Hopkins is a holding master and he knows when to hold and punch, and that is why i Criticize him,
he is good but not all time great, not even close.
Media? wtf are you talking about , I don't need Media i have my own eyes to watch the fights
i mean wtf he could have beaten Calzaghe if he threw just 5 more punches a round but noo..he rather hold his way through and then cry like a baby that he lost.
he a master at throwing his head at opponents face while he throws upper cut, you get hit by his head or his upper cut, out of all great fighters Hopkins is the one who has HELD HIS WAY THROUGH FIGHTS
and i am not afraid to say so because i have watched him throughout his carrier..he did not Hold against DLH that much because he was much bigger man, and with Trinadad he perfomed very well giving him angles.
anyway Good Fight ROY i did not think he would last whole fight, than Knockdown felt like de ja vu, but looking at it again he hit him with his wrist not a glove, this was much more one sided then Hopkins fight, but again you can't look good against Hopkins even if you win.

Boy was I wrong! I gotta give Joe Calzaghe all the credit in the world. He fought a near flawless fight. It's clear though that Roy isn't the fighter that he once was. Not taking anything away from Joe because he fought his butt off, but it's just reality. I wish they had fought before Roy moved up to Heavyweight and fought Ruiz.
Calzaghe is a great fighter though. He has my respect for sure.

Roy Jones never stood a chance............Poor ROY ROY can't match Joe's speed.
Ur kidding right, Jones shouldve retired years ago, Joe knew exactly what he was in the ring against. An old washed up Roy Jones. Too bad he didnt have the balls to come fight Roy in his prime. Calzaghe is cementing his place in history by beating 2 ring legends who are way past their primes.... what a joke. Both wins should count for nothing imo. And Joe tasted the canvas in both fights.....which is nothing compared to what wouldve happened 10 years ago. Beating both those guys in during their haydays wouldve been legendary, but their names on his record now doesnt mean much. Jones lost to Tarver and Glenn Johnson 5 years ago, and who were they, future ibhof inductees? NO

and why did not Roy Jones go to Wales to fight calzaghe in his prime?
better yet, why did he not accept a proposed 3rd destination anywhere in the world by calzaghe team in his prime? why did fight HAD to be in US?
Roy vs Calzaghe both of them in their prime would be a good fight, but you can't assume Roy would win just because he is Roy Jones, calzaghe is just as legendery with many styles in the ring which he can adjust to on a fly he is very clever and just as he could have easily lost to roy he could have easily beaten him..we will never know.
i mean not like their fight was even close, and Calzaghe is not in his prime either, although he has not taken damage like Roy.

Neither fighter wanted to go overseas in their prime. But if you think that the Jones that Calzaghe beat was even close or a shade of what he once was then u never saw Jones fight in his prime. Jones is a shot fighter, and has been since 2003-2004, so beating him now says nothing about how the fight wouldve gone when Jones was untouchable, had outstanding reflexes, didnt sit on the ropes all night, had handspeed that was seen MAYBE once every 15 years, and threw 10 punch combos like they were going out of style. You think Joe couldve stood up to that? Doubt it, Jones wouldve either kayoed Joe, or made him look terrible for 12 rounds.
