Will the wii verison of 2k9 be better improved like The At the Wall Catches when you get robbed of a homer 9/10? the diving catches will they only work so often all the time? and will the wii version have all the perks of all the other verisons?

I honestly never played this year's game for the Wii because I didn't hear anything good about it. After looking at some reviews, however, it sounds like it could have been a lot worse. So hopefully with a decent base in place, they can build it into something solid. It will be 2009 though, and that means online play is a must in the Wii version. There is no reason the Wii version should have missing modes that the other versions have. I'll be keeping a very close eye on the Wii version, and here's to hoping it turns out well. *fingers crossed*

the Wii is a joke of a system. It is made for little kids and all their games are worse than any X360 or PS3 counterparts.

I own a Wii and badly, badly want a good baseball game for it (The best is MLB: Power Pros) because I want to be able to play a whole game with just the Wii mote and have it feel good. Hopefully the Wii HD will be sweet, but as long as I hear crap reviews about Wii games that ALWAYS contain less features and worse graphics than my X360, I won't get a game for it unless it is exclusively for the Wii.

The Wii is a joke of a system, yet you dearly want a good baseball game for that same system?!? Give me a break man. Power Pros was probably the best baseball game of 2008, and you guessed it, it was a Wii game. The Wii is a very capable system, but the developers are going to have to step it up and make something worth our while. It has nothing to do with the system.

I think it can both ways, we'll have to see.

ummm give you a break...? please re-read my post. I say the Wii is a joke because it is, but I wish it wasn't because I want a good baseball game for it. And I think it does have something to do with the system because it's capabilities are a lot lower than the X360 or PS3.

You aren't very smart in the first place if you have a Wii and think it's a joke. Get rid of it or give it a rest.

As far as capabilities go, those are only in reference to graphics. The Wii is just as capable of producing a game with great gameplay as the XBox 360 and PS3 are. And if you are playing games for the graphics, there is another problem. Great gameplay is where it's at, and the Wii is plenty capable of providing that. The developers just need to step up to the plate, give it the respect it deserves, and produce a great game. Luckily, the 2K crew didn't treat the Wii version of MLB 2K8 as a "kiddy" game. They just left out online and other game modes that should be in. Here's hoping they load this year's up with everything the other versions have.

They're different in so many ways, especially controller wise.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the Wii being able to put out a game with great gameplay or not. Like I mentioned above, Power Pros was possibly the best baseball game this year, and low and behold, it was a Wii title. The system is clearly capable of putting out a great game. If MLB 2K8 would have had the same solid gameplay Power Pros had, everyone would be praising it. The "kiddy" character models drove everyone away.

So yeah, he really didn't have any valid points, other than the fact the Wii can't hang with XBox 360/PS3 in the graphics department. That's the "only" thing those systems have over the Wii when it comes to putting out a solid game.

Actually MLB PowerPro 2008 was also available for the PS2, plus try to get back on topic. (Wii/MLB2K9)

Thrash13 you obviously don't understand what I'm saying. The Wii is an inferior system and they always release games with less features and worse graphics than the game made for the X360 or PS3. I don't know if it is because the game developers spend less time on Wii games rather than X360 or PS3 or if the Wii isn't as capable as them (which is my guess) because most Wii games are basically a PS2 game with a little motion control.

And the whole "motion control" could be good, but their games hardly use any of that. Like MLB: PP 2008 has NO motion control unless you want to play an Exhibition game. I got it hoping I could play a whole season with motion controls, but no, I have to use button hitting, pitching, and throwing. Sure it may be good for the PS2, because it is a failed attempt at using the Wii's uniqueness.

I do agree with you that the Wii version of certain games seems to be the stripped version. That ****es me off big time. That being said, this year's Madden and Tiger Woods shows that the Wii is capable of producing a similar game to that of the 360 and PS3 (aside from graphics). Unfortunately, it just took three tries to get the job done. The capability is there, but the developers aren't putting in the extra effort.

Last year's 2K Wii game seemed to do a lot of things right, but it was once again the stripped version. If they can add online and tweak a few other things, it should be on par with the other console releases (aside from graphics yet again).

I understand what you are saying now, and I appreciate you clearing it up.

I found MLB2k8 for the Wii really good (and the last baseball game I bought was NCAA MVP 06 for the PS2). Hitting and pitching was way more natural on the Wii than timing the button mashing on the 360.

A few tweaks here and there, and I'd be really happy picking up 2k9. What would seal the deal is seeing a little blue "WiFi" sticker on the Wii cover art. At least then I would have some hope for online roster updates. :)

The only thing "kiddie" about the Wii is the fact that programmers like EA don't take it seriously. The fact that 2k has taken the time to utilize what the system can do (like using a direct port of the 360 version of NHL 2k9 for the Wii version) should open it up to other programmers thinking outside the box.

Any two bit software company can put together a game that involves button mashing.
