View Full Version : Guess the ratings for MLB 2K9!
derekjeter76
November 17th, 2008, 12:52 PM
Ok, here it is how it works. I say a players name and then the next guy posts what they think his rating in MLB 2K9 will be and posts a new name. Then the next poster says what they think.
Remember: MLB 2K does ratings based off of the past 3 years, so a good/bad last year may not affect a guy too much if he has been in the league a long time.
ok, let's start.

CC Sabathia

November 17th, 2008, 03:22 PM
well i am guessing since in 2k8 Johan Santana was rated at a 99 i would say CC Sabathia would probably be anywhere from a 97-99 espically after how good he was for the Brewers.....and his stamina will be very good in the game because of how many innings and complete games he pitched

and
Adam Dunn? lol sorry for so many at one time lol
Gamerdrw
November 22nd, 2008, 06:52 AM
Pelfrey: probably in the mid 80's he improved a lot espically after him being rate a 69 in 2K8....i would say 83-86..he won some very important games for the Mets and pitched back-to-back complete games
Griffey Jr.:...he is getting old.. lower 80's upper 70's: 79-84
Johnny Ceuto: had to go look him up...with the stats Games Won: 9 Games Lost:14 ERA: 4.81...I would probably say 78..he is young though...so his ratings will probably be better in future games if he does not become a bust in the majors.
Adam Dunn: he is getting slow in the outfield...stricking out a lot and and his BA was kinda low this year..i would say 79 or 80 MAYBE 82
How about Luis Castillo?

i am a young kid and i looooooove baseball and i also play baseball. one thing i always make sure of before every game is that i am stylish. You 2k people really need to get contracts with nike, mizuno, vedero, jordan, and rawlings and etc. to put some more excitement in creating a player and editing players i believe your sales will go up just for sumthing as simple as that. and the game will be more fun then what it originally is.mainly the 2k companied thing is getting kind of old, put some spice into it.(dont get me wrong i enjoy your games ) but work harder on the graphix for 360 and gameplay and and try to work something out with companies like nike, jordan, rawlings etc..
hope you take in to consideration
thank u
chuito2k.

Well it is probably a safe guess that whoever won awards last year but are not big names (ie. Cliff Lee - pictured at left) will not be rated as high as they should be. Those players always get ripped off. I would put Lee (after last years performances) 90-95 but we all know that that won't happen.

No but they arent going to LOWER his rating because he got hurt either
Actually they should lower it a little bit because of his injuries. As a player you are not as effective as you were due to playtime, injuries, etc. It's only right that his rating should be lowered. I'm not saying lower it drastically but a few overall points.
It's more realistic bud.
slantedeyematt
January 31st, 2009, 02:37 PM
-_- No not when you have all season to recover ect ect and he wont be missing spring traing either. If anything his rating should be the same "that would be more realistic bud"
falcgun1337_Xbox360
January 31st, 2009, 04:18 PM
lol, no it wouldnt dude, if a guy plays some games and does well, fine. If he gets injured, you shouldn't just stay there and then say oh predicting his stats hed have gone this many wins etc for this many games... it doesn't work like that.
It should give him a penalty for how long hes out.
Example: Nick Johnson, a few years ago i think he was an 85 or so... He hasnt played many games since then, has missed about 2 seasons and played in a total of like 50 somethin games for 2 years... his rating went down to an 80 at the start of 2k8 and in 2k9 I wouldnt be surprised if hes a 70 something.
Ming Wang shouldnt be given a handicap because he was injured, they should start him off around 87-89 and then see how he does in ST/Opening month... remember its Living Rosters so dont get your panties in a bunch since its updated every day/week
joejccva7112
January 31st, 2009, 04:28 PM
-_- No not when you have all season to recover ect ect and he wont be missing spring traing either. If anything his rating should be the same "that would be more realistic bud"
You're wrong. By not playing, (in almost every sports game) the ratings drop a little bit. Look at NFL Head Coach which is probably the most realistic sports game to date right now as far as progression and statistics go. If a player was injured for even half the season, by the time he got back on the field his OVR rating was down some. It only makes sense.
Not sure what you're smoking, but I want some ...superbowl is tomorrow. :)
slantedeyematt
January 31st, 2009, 06:00 PM
Look at the diffrence wang pitched great when he was on the mound and got hurt half the season. NOT HIS FAULT. So his rating should have gone down because he was still pitching great before that fyi his rating last year was 89 i belive. He should still be there because any rating lower than that is a scrub number and in no way shape or form is chen ming wang a scrub. You also gotta remember not everyone have access to internet to update there roster (Wii) so they wont put his rating low because they know some people cant update the roster. Therefore his rating will probably stay at around 89-90
falcgun1337_Xbox360
January 31st, 2009, 06:13 PM
hahaha to much love for your yankees that your going insane with ratings. anything below an 89 is NOT a scrub rating. You wouldn't know that though cause your owners buy talent and rarely make their own. Sure it might not be "his" fault for getting injured but hes not playing during that time either so giving him a good rating for that time missed is insane.

and to falcgun well ifyou say so bud. I would understand if it was just some ordanary player but wang earned a 90 rating what would be the point of bringing him down? either way i couldnt care less what you have to say because your going to say the same dumb thing
falcgun1337_Xbox360
January 31st, 2009, 09:23 PM
Sorry if the truth is dumb to you but yes, they will bring ratings down if someones a 90, I know this example is going to be understood but how you said it deserves correcting...
Andruw Jones, yes he blew, but he was about a 90 and went down to an 80... They wont hesitate to move someone down if theyre a 90...
What exactly makes Wang not ordinary?
Now i'm going to name someone to get back on topic because he won't even take another opinion from how stubborn he seems to be acting.
Corey Hart
slantedeyematt
January 31st, 2009, 09:30 PM
Did you just compare andrew jones to chen-ming wang are you retarted. Those are to opposite cases. Wang did not have like and era of 7 (which would be the equivalent of what andrew jones did) Jones played worse than like joey gathright or something you gotta be kidding me right. Jones was so bad its not even funny. What a fool you have to be to compare the too. That statement just official makes you and everyone else who agreed with you lose and now I win because your an idiot
falcgun1337_Xbox360
January 31st, 2009, 09:43 PM
how old are you dude? did you not read what I said?
"I know this example is going to be understood but how you said it deserves correcting..."
I meant that for the Andruw Jones statement.. he was horrible yes, but the way you said "Ming Wang isnt an ordinary player and they wont drop his rating down" deserved it... Plus you avoided answering my only question and just spat out the same thing in 3 different sentences with different words.
Way to go you know how to prove a point. /end sarcasm.
Please get off Wangs sack
"Corey Hart"
slantedeyematt
January 31st, 2009, 09:43 PM
Wang was a 90 yes but he got injured so since it is living rosters they will just keep him at 90 and if he blows than he goes down simple as that. Your not going to give a potential ace a lower grade level just because he got injured.
Would you bring down fausto carmona's rating just because he got hurt. The answer is NO, because he is good and because he got hurt. That is a real example unlike the idiotic one you put above
falcgun1337_Xbox360
January 31st, 2009, 09:51 PM
Your right there, but I wasn't just saying a minor injury, no he shouldn't lose rating, but he was out for more than 3 quarters of the season.. All Im saying is giving him a rating like that just because he was on a tear in the first month is absurd... Sure he MAY have done that the rest of the year, he MAY not have... it all depends.
I just dont think a player who played for barely the season injury or not should get that high of a rating. Plus I didnt say he was bad at all and Im sure he will get that high anyway if he continues like he pitched in the month of April last year.
slantedeyematt
January 31st, 2009, 09:59 PM
My point is that he pitchd just about half a season. Maybe 2 or so games under, but he should not go up or down h should stay even because he showed no sign of slowing down and should stay at his original rating and shouldnt be put down at all because in the end what stats are you gunna take away from him??? carmona was out for a little less than wang and he should not go down in raitin either so its not like im saying this just because hes a yankee i would be saying this for anyone who didnt have a bad season and got hurt. Tell me what stat are you going to take away from wang or carmona???
falcgun1337_Xbox360
January 31st, 2009, 10:10 PM
Injury or Stamina at the least, either way I just think its unfair for a player to have the same rating even though you make a point. Like im a Washington fan for everything, and I think what Gilbert is doing to the wizards is BS even though hes my favorite player. Like hes always going to be a 90 something cause hes a star but I do think they should lower his rating or, like they do, take him out just cause he isnt even playing now and said he might not even play cause the team sucks so bad.
Durability/Stamina/Injury take those down a notch... Again im not saying make him a 68!! I merely said 87-89 lol what is 1-3 points going to do honestly

To the gilbert arenas point is, hes hurt every season and hansnt played a full season in idk how long. If you put his durablity down that that would be fine stamina no because stamina dosent have to do with with his injury. how much to do you think you will have to turn durability down to get him down to a 87. It would hve to be like half f his frekin stamina to do that lol (exaggerating) i just dont se it happening

K-rod will be like a 98 or so until his arm falls of lol
It totally makes sense lol, i mean your right putting down his stamina/durability would make him a weakling.
I guess Im also bitter im going to be facing the yankees every damn ranked match.
