Season III is underway
League web site:
http://online.2k8.2ksports.com/league/?p=360&l=35159&t=APF2K8
We have 22 (listed below) that have expressed an interest. You will have 24 hours to join the league beginning Friday morning or you may be replaced.
You must post your team below to be eligible to join the league on Friday. Have your team built according to all the guidelines (team build, uniforms, correct ht, wt, number, skin color, left/right handed) below and be ready to join on Friday.
NFL2K8 is an active NFL sim league. It is expected that each member will play 3 games per week every week and attempt to finish all 16 games in the season win or lose. If you find yourself out of the playoff race, use the games to try to improve by practicing and experimenting in a competitive league environment.
This is a sim league. Please read the rules below. By joining the league you agree to abide by the rules. If you disagree with the rules or cannot follow them, please do not join this league.
You must use accurate uniforms for your NFL teams (there are codes available in the forum). Make sure your road uniform has white jerseys and your home uniform jerseys are not white.
All players must be on the 2008 NFL team roster and have proper height, weight, number etc.
There is no team validation. Build your NFL team with the players you want at the tier you want. There are some abilities restrictions as follows:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
TEAM BUILD GUIDELINES:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Gold players will be 3 abilities (no 4 or 5 ability CAPs)
The following Attributes/Combinations may NOT be used:
Route God
Workhorse
Branching tackles
Speed Burner + Breakaway Burst (you can choose 1)
Cadence
Signal Stealer
Stamina
Speed burner is limited to 1 player on offense and 1 player on defense

Rules:
------------------------
the Hitman league rules apply:
Game play:
1: Sportsmanship is a must. If your up big than run the ball and don't run the score up at all.
2: Replays are limited to 3 per half.
3. You CAN NOT move more than 1 person manually at any time during a play on defense. You need to use in game adjustments like shade in, shade out, press, & cover shells.
Substitutions:
O-Line are interchangeable
D-Line are Interchangeable
LB are Interchangeable and LB's with a Pass Rush Attribute like Sack Master or Pass Rush can play DE in Nickle and Dime Packages.
CB, FS, & SS are all interchangeble and can play any secondary position.
RB's & FB's are interchangeable. FB's can play as TE ala Chris Cooley.
TE's can only play at TE & WR
WR's can only play as a WR
There are no 2 way players allowed.
PUNTING RULES:
We will reuse Brownster14's punting rules which simplifies punting decisions to a 'yes' or 'no'.
Rule 1. A team may go for it on 4th down and inches at any time in the game, whether they are leading, tied, or trailing.
Rule 2. A team may go for it on 4th down and 1 yard if they are past the 50 and inside their opponents territory, at any time in the game, whether they are leading, tied, or trailing.
Rule 3. A team may go for it on 4th down and any number of yards if the line of scrimmage is on their opponents 40 or less.
Rule 4. A team may go for it on 4th down and any number of yards from anywhere on the field if they are trailing in the 4th quarter by any amount.
Rule 5. A team may go for it on 4th down if it's the end of the 2nd quarter and time will expire on the last play.
Rule 6. A team may go for it on 4th down regardless of yards to go or location if it's under 2 minutes in the 4th quarter.
Rule 7. A team must punt the ball or kick a field goal if it is 4th down and Rules #1 through Rule #6 do not apply.
Blitzing:
1: 5-2 Middle LB Blitz is legal since it can be countered. Shotgun Formation, Flat to RB, Slant pass, Max Protect with RB's staying in to block, PA roll outs can counter this blitz well.
2: Secondary players blitzing can be done as much as you want as long as you are not manually controlling them at anytime during the blitz.
3: LB's can be used manually to blitz but can not move closer to line of scrimmage than they are already automatically set at.
Defensive Lineman:
1: You can use any D-Lineman but you can not use the DE to run a stunt and come in untouched at all. This is a known glitch in the game.
2: You can not move a D-Lineman manually at all whether your moving him off the line or back and into coverage before the snap of the ball.
3: D-Lineman special moves like Swim, Rip, Club, Bull Rush, and Spin are allowed and are encouraged for you to use since it is part of the game.
Motion Running:
1: You can use motion running as long as the guy you motion clears the end of the line whether it is the Tackle or TE.
2: You can not hike the ball unless your guy has cleared the end of the last person on your O-Line.
Bump Man 2 Man defense:
1: You can play this as much as you want.
2: To counter Bump man you are allowed to put your WR in motion and can snap the ball only when your WR is set 100% to get off the bump like a real NFL team would do. You do not have to wait for the CB to be set but you must allow the CB to at least get in front of the WR.
3: You can also motion your WR off the line of scrimmage to get him a free release off the line by him backing off of the LOS.
Screen passes:
1: You can not run one way and throw back the other way on a screen pass because the camera will be cut off to the point where you can not see the RB to manually cover him.
2: You are allowed 3 screen passes a half so use them wisely.
Routes:
1: Out Routes, Middle post, Double move post should all be used in moderation. I will not ban these routes because there are ways to defend everyone of them even if you like it or not. If the out route and the hot route fade pattern is all your opponent has in his offensive arsenal than you should be able to defend it pretty easy. If you need help learning how to defend these plays or plays that work against them than let me know. Here are a few.
Defending the out route:
1: Shade your CB's to the out side in man 2 man.
2: Cover 2 Hard for short out routes with your CB's shaded to the outside.
3: Cover 2 soft for the deeper out routes with your CB's shaded to the outside.
4: Manually jumping the route and defending it.
Defending the Middle post:
1: Hot zone your safety to cover the middle of the field.
2: Hot zone your ILB to cover the deep middle.
3: Manually jumping the route and defending it.
Defending the Double Move route:
1: Cover 12
2: Manually jumping the route and defending it.
All of these issues are not as huge if you have a pass rush.
Banned plays:
1: Cadence
2: Bunny Hopping
3: Switching defenders in a Flickering kind of way as fast as you can to confuse blockers.
4: Kickoffs can not be kicked off to the side of the field to stop return man from getting to the ball at all. If you don't want him to return it than kick it out of bounds without it hitting the ground. You must kick it down the middle, slightly to the left or right.
5: Punting can not be punted short for the purpose of a muffed punt because you can not take control of your player to stop him from going for the punt.
6. No quick snapping allowed.
7. You can use the QB punt, but you must decline any roughing the kicker penalties.
8. The hot corner route (using the outside WR) is banned in this league.
League issues
1: You can not quit for any reason at all.
2: If there is an issue with game play contact an admin. Offenders are notified and will be dropped from the league for repeat offenses.
3: No negative feedback can be given at anytime.

Well I be manually using Julian Peterson so I gave him speed and Strength because the other attributes I don't need since I will be the Run Reader and Ball hawk. I just need to be able to get there quick and have the strength to bring down anyone.

Wouldn't ballhawk give you a greater chance of making the play instead of dropping the pick?

Just a tip, give Porter a pass rush move in place of either sack master or pass rush. He'll be much more of a consistent factor

I think hitman might be worried about the funky animations that ball hawk can give you sometimes when you press RB to go for the pick. Sometimes you get a animation that takes you out of the play

Will it matter if I don't control him? I mean, he doesn't charge up if I don't use him, right?
I only take control of the safety.

Yeah it will..sack master is pretty useless on a gold. The ability itself means that it's harder to qb evade that player. I've rarely seen a qb evade a gold player on a sack.

I like my team to be fairly accurate also. We wanted this to be an NFL sim league but fun also. We want guys to be able to use their favorite team if available and their favorite players and build a team they are comfortable with.
My thoughts: why should guys have to pick a team that has the star players at the positions they want and not be able to play with their home/favorite team? If your favorite player in the league is a back up TE, go ahead and make him a silver on your team. The games are sim and the league is fun. I think most of the teams are fairly close anyway. A player here or there doesn't take away from the NFL sim experience... and we don't waste 3 weeks arguing over player abilities.
We give you less than a week to make your team and 24 hours (starting Friday morning) to join the league and we start playing!

I wasn't talking about you in particualr. Heck the team you posted isn't even the format I'm use to seeing you play with so it's no biggie. I was just talking a loud. I try to have a different team in every league. Gold HB in one league, Gold Wr in another league,No golds on offense in another league, 5 defensive backs in this league, etc. Just my way of keeping things fresh.

I was struggling with making my team accurate vs having fun. In actuality I should give all the corners on my team bump master but I hate playing bump because when I play against it I get so ****ed off at how effective it is that I said to myself I would never do it. I also probably shouldn't have given Rodgers leadership but IMO the rest of my team is pretty accurate.

When I try to recreate a team, I try my very best to choose the best 11 players on that team..I dont care who they are. If the best player on the team is a offensive tackle, Im using him. The niners QBs rot, so I am not going to waste a CAP on them.
I then try to balance it out as best I can, to give myself a fighting chance. It makes things fun for me.
Anyway, here's my final draft of the niners
LB Patrick Willis (Closing Speed, Quick Feet, Leadership)
HB Frank Gore (Soft Hands, Battering Ram, Breakaway Burst)

This league has said from day one that your team and players does not have to be accurate. It is geared towards letting you play with the type of Player, Favorite players, and abilities you believe in. IMO this is a nice fresh look compared to other NFL teams. I had Seneca Wallace as my QB last season along with back up WR's playing as my Silvers. What is different from using the legends in the game compared to this? All my Seahawk teams in other NFL leagues are accurately portrayed.

I will be posting my team Monday (1st).
Don't mean to ruffle any feathers, but why is this league already being created, up and running before season 2 even ends? The process makes it pretty hectic to manage teams & schedules in the current league, and get new teams created for the next season. In future instances, can we at least wait until the current season is at least in the playoffs before beginning the roundup for the next season?

Season II playoffs start Friday... Season 3 will not start until Saturday at the earliest. This provides no gap in games. I am open to a week delay if it makes things easier. I can make a team (15 minutes), play one game (45 minutes) to check everything out and join a league (2 minutes) in just over an hour.
I don't know why it takes 2 months to launch a league.

It takes me a while because not only do I make all my CAPs attributes accurate, I also make their faces, bios & equipment accurate and test them to make sure I don't have a dud CAP. Not only that, I try to make as accurate uni's as I can as well. Sorry but I like to make the game as close to real life to me since Madden ruined it for me.

A LOT! You will have a LB slow as a snail or quick as lightning. It a random roll of the APF dice on what you will get and thats why so many people will practice with there players and teams so much. I have had Bronze players much much better than any Gold I have ever created because of this. I had a Mark Bavarro bronze TE with Bull Dozer fast as any TE in the game and would catch everything thowin to him.

interesting... i can't say i have ever seen a player much better or much worse than the norm. i'll have to give a closer look. it would be nice to have a training area where you could take your CAP and run the 40, see what he could bench press and check out his vertical leap... maybe next game.

Ya there defiantly are sometimes dud caps and sometimes extremely good caps. My running back in NFLP is a bronze with just quick feet and he is a beast. In NFLP3 I had a created Trent Cole with all pass rushing abilities. He didnt even get 10 sacks in 16 games. So it is actually possible to get a dud CAP.

November 30th, 2008, 08:40 PM
I do notice difference in CAPs.
However, I think other intangibles measure out aside from speed.
For example my CAP Kevin Greene runs like he has speed burner, even though he has sack master, strength, and rip.
My other CAP OLB James Harrison has Strength bonus, Rip, and ball strip. He feels much slower than Greene, but he hits like a ton of bricks and he seems to have better hands/block shedding skills. Which player is more valuable? I can't decide - both have won games for me.
I think there's more to a player than just his speed when things are randomized. Sometimes the tools are more obvious than others. Sometimes it just takes more time to figure out the strengths of your CAP.

Basically the only players changed were: 2 Golds, Woodley, and Ike Taylor. James Harrison needs ball strip. IRL he's a ball stripping/sacking machine. I sat in practice mode trying to unlock this ability and it has its moments, but seems to be most commonly activated from the blindside. If you hit a QB face first, he doesn't seem to fumble much. If anyone has advice on what tackle type to use in order to create the most fumbles/trigger that wonderful animation I'm all ears!
So far I think just hitting no button/tapping A triggers the animation the most consistently.

Hey no problem, I saw your post meant THIS FRIDAY (5th) not last Friday so that gives me plenty of time.
And yeah, the dud CAPs are a mess. My Zach Thomas & Greg Ellis from NFL2K8 S1 were super slow so I had to remake them the next season but then my CAP Roy Williams (WR) was horrible so now I have to remake him.

Do you think how I set up my team is realistic?
looks good to me. we don't validate teams in this league (except for following the team build guidelines)... so the main thing is... make the team super realistic if you would enjoy that or change a player or two to fit your game style. It's up to you. If i had the chiefs, i would bump the QB to silver since i think bronze CAP QBs are too erratic for fun... NYKIA would keep him bronze or play with a generic
It's your team. Make a team you will have fun with... super realistic or put the golds at the positions you prefer them or put your favorite 2nd string guy in the starting lineup... just make sure your uniforms look realistic/nice!

HITMAN,
I have already told 2 other guys they can change teams but must stay in the same conference. Can you pick a NFC team? We are trying to end up with a balanced AFC/NFC league or as close as we can get.
Well did one of them want to change conferences? I wanted Jaguars in season 2 but I switched back to Seahawks. I only like them because of MJD and John Henderson. Let me know if they want to switch to a NFC team.

NYKIA would keep him bronze or play with a generic

Generic QB + Stonewall Silver OL + Leadership WR= Bronze :)

feel free to work out a trade with someone... you know with leagues a lot is out of our control as far as who says they will join and who actually joins. Just trying to keep NFC/AFC even. I don't care if we have 12, 16, 20 or 24 teams.

HITMAN,
is your 'clutch' experiment over?
No my Gold DT has Clutch. I would have given it to my WR's but because of there height I needed Quick Feet or they would not have been that great. Matt Jones is 6'6" and Reggie Williams is 6'4" and Marcedes Lewis is 6'6". If you use tall WR's they are best if given Quick Feet. I was going to give Garrard Clutch but since I have my O-Line set to run blocking for MJD I will need to get rid of the ball faster. 4th Q Comeback makes all WR's seem to go up a tier in the 4th. I still believe in Clutch ;)

I know Matt Jones deserves Speed Burner and Rashean Mathis but I find that if you create a bronze CB with obviously 1 ability only they will play better with Quick Feet. When it comes to WR's and TE's Speed burner is over rated. Speed Burner will make you fast but it does not create the separation that BAB does. Jerry Rice doesn't have Speed but he does have BAB and what can he do to a secondary? I want to create separation not just run fast ;)
Matt Jones with Quick Feet and BAB along with his 6'6" frame will create nightmares all season :D

OLB Karlos Dansby [Run Reader]
ILB Gerald Hayes [Wrap Up Tackle]
CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie [Closing Speed]
CB Eric Green [Quick Feet]
Explanations:
[B]Offense: I chose to have two gold receivers because I found out that most people have trouble facing teams with two gold receivers and any level tier tight end. The opposing team must have good corners to cover my receivers and on top of that, they need to watch out for my tight end. Here is the thing, most players will seem to heavily focus on the golds which will leave my tight end and generic options on some type of man on man coverage. Either way, someone will be open.
Defense: My defense isn't anything special. It's a basic "stop the deep" ball defense. Two bronze corners being backed up by two silver safeties. The pass defense is solidly set up, but the game of football is not one dimensional. My run defense isn't all that. Just two linebackers, both bronze. Not a big deal though. They have back up...reliable backup. I hope this defense can hold.

Oh, I know bro. I'm not all about winning. I'm a pass heavy guy. And I don't go deep, I take it a few yards at a time. Eventually I'll get to the goal line, lol.

Yeah he kind of ****ed me off in that game but that dline.....is illegal..I want to formally protest the formation of that d-line. Seriously they played great....had to throw a lot of passes out of bounds
LOL the 3 main reason i wanted the Jaguars are.....
1. Maurice Jones-Drew
2. There Receivers are Basketball players.
3. There D-Line is huge to the point that I have never seen a 6'4" 295 pound DE that can demolish a Tackle. Hopefully they play as good because I was making the team for fun and was hoping I could change to them when Babyface sent me a message saying he was going to be a NFC team and I could be the Jaguars. I had to take 2 of the Attributes off both MJD and John Henderson. That Jaguars uniform that Illmatic made was pretty damn good! A lot better than the one on 2kstrategy.

Thanks everybody for posting your team and joining the league on time.
Everyone take 1 minute and reread the rules in post number 1. No manually trying to block punts or field goals, no quick snapping, punt in 4th down situations (know what they are), etc. If you cannot read let me know and I'll send you the picture version I made for Leeroy last season.

NFL2K8 Season III Kickoff Game:
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc73/tjspeaks/1-161.gif
Storyline:
The Season III kickoff game features a rematch of the NFL2K8 Super Bowl I coaches. Both of these men are with their 3rd team in three years. One of the big story lines for this season is NYKIA's decision to go with generic quarterback Brian Mcgee.
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc73/tjspeaks/1-181.jpg
Brian Mcgee
He recently stated his formula for success, "Generic QB + Stonewall Silver OL + Leadership WR = Bronze." Some are wondering if KIA is a genius. New coach CreatineKasey says he will be watching coach KIA and the 49ers very carefully, "Here's a guy who went to the Super Bowl in season I and had a 13-3 record in season II. You can't argue with success." Leeroy Gunther, who never minces words, stated, "KIA is an absolute moron."
Coach's profile:
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc73/tjspeaks/1-162.gif
Coach KIA is a player's coach. They love playing for him. He is a likable class guy respected around the league. He sports his trademark dress whites on the sidelines.
Coach Leeroy is a tough nosed coach who demands results and wins from his players... and he usually gets it. He is hated by his players and often rubs other coaches wrong with his verbal tirades. The league has repeatedly asked him to dress more like Coach KIA and not to wear blue jeans on the sidelines. "KIA is an absolute moron" was his latest text message response to the league headquarters. The off the field Leeroy enjoys kittens and flowers.
Key players:
Titans:
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc73/tjspeaks/1-180.jpg
CB Cortland Finnegan
SS Chris Hope
QB Kerry Collins
FS Micheal Griffin
WR Justin McCareins

LB Patrick Willis
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc73/tjspeaks/1-176.jpg
HB Frank Gore
WR Isaac Bruce
CB Nate Clement
OT Joe Staley
Game result :
17 Titans
7 49ers
All eyes were on San Fransico's rookie QB Brian McGee last night as the Titans came into the 49ers back yard to start off the 3rd 2k8 season. McGee had been lighting it up all pre-season and everyone wondered if it was for real. McGee appeared to fall prey to the jitters of it being his first "Real" game and looked like just another rookie for the first 3 quarters. Looking particularly like a rookie when on 4th and inches he audibled to a pass and threw a critical interception early in the game. 1 of 3 picks on the day for McGee. McGee pulled it together in the 4th quarter but it was too late. If there had been 5 quarters McGee and the Niners could have possibly pulled this one out. The Niners defense looked strong as they held the Titans in check most of the game but gave up a few big plays that were really the difference in the game.

Ray is a good guy and is trying to interpret the rule. He is referring to kicking the ball out of the endzone for a touchback which i attempt to do on every kick in every game. I believe the rule is there to prevent sideline kicks which could pin a team at the 1 yard line. All of these were touchbacks.

He gave up in our DL10 game. He was only down 2 posessions to beginthe 4th qtr and then started fair catching kickoffs and running dive plays with eric bienemy...and constantly replaying plays where he got gashed, instead of controlling somebody and doing something about it.

Ray and Bronx,
the game has been reset and will be played out as follows:
1) You both broke HITMAN's rules as follows:
"Punting can not be punted short for the purpose of a muffed punt because you can not take control of your player to stop him from going for the punt."
WHEN I PUNT I AIM UP, unless I AM KICKING OUT OF BOUNDS.
"You can not quit for any reason at all."
You will play one quarter, BabyFace is up by 5 points, Ray receives the ball no matter who wins the coin toss. At the end of one quarter, one of you will quit (league permission) at the end of the quarter, the other person will NOT accept it, the initial person will go ahead and quit. We will add the +5 and edit the winner if necessary.
We have guys ready to take your team if you do not want to follow the rules and be a good sport.

League notes:
1) NFLHITMAN has admin rights if I am not around
2) Complaints should be handled as follows:
a) send a PM to the admin(s), instead of airing all problems in the forum
b) if the admin receive multiple complaints about a player breaking rules, showing bad sportsmanship or not competing until the end of the game, the player will be dropped without notice and not permitted in future leagues.
The league is here for your enjoyment, I can enjoy a loss if it was a fair, competitive game. If I lose I feel challenged to improve and make better decisions next time. Have fun.

Raystyle unfortunately for you I have had more complaints than I can stomach. With that aside we need to be fair with this game against amid.
1. I know how amid kicks and when you have a legend kicker than most of my kickoff rules don't apply unless they are doing this on purpose. amid will kick towards the corner of the endzone so it will go through the end zone for a touch back. My rules were set up to stop the players who intentionally kick to the corner where the ball is still in play and you have to recover it or the kicking team will, which will cause you to go out of bounds inside the 20 yard line. amid kickoffs are within the rules since it is always a touchback. If the ball stays in side the field of play and you recover and have to run out inside the 20 than this rule would be enforced.
The game stands.

We where driving up into the mountains and stopped to have a stare off with one .. was cool as ****. The Cat don't get the press as much as others do. I'm actually glad cuz they are better looking then most wild cats.

Your an idiot hitman, it doesn't matter. You can't bend rules or because someone has a CAP as a kicker.
And by the way hitman, my kicks were right at your legend mitchell there was no way in hell that ball was going to take you out of bounds, you just let it bounch right infront of you and cry about it.
If you want change the rules and say everyone has to kick the ball between the hash marks and the 10.
Only a few maybe 2-3 owners kick the ball that close to the middle everyone else kicks it outside the 10 so everyone needs to be kicked out of leagues

You kicked the ball towards the sideline. In the video it will show where you are aiming at and the ball hit like 2-3 yards from the sideline and my returner backs away from it and waits at the 2 and the ball rolls in to his feet and he has to pick it up and the rest you all know.

PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE:
After the Steelers lost their opener to the power running 49ers (Gore ran for 150+), they rebounded against the Chicago Bears. "Fast" Willie Parker ran for 149 yds, Ben Roethlisberger had a 60%+ completion percentage, threw for 2 TD's and no interceptions.
The story of the day wasn't the offense, though. The Pittsburgh defense played their brand of high-pressure football which resulted in 2 big interceptions by the ball-hawking Troy Polamalu. He took the first one back for a touchdown which really put the Steelers in a position to win early. The two outstanding OLB's both recorded a sack which killed a couple of drives. These big plays gave the Pittsburgh offense a lot of time of possession which is verified by the whopping 25 carries Willie Parker recieved.
Jeff Reed was also lights out and led a solid performance on special teams.
Recently Coach Kasey was seen shaking magic 8 balls asking how TJ forces fumbles over there in Baltimore. No answer has been found yet... his dual number answer was a ploy to throw me off the trail. More on this as it develops.

i saw the video heres the kickoff rule word for word under banned plays for this league :KICKOFFS CAN NOT BE KICKED OFF TO THE SIDE TO STOP RETURN MAN FROM GETTING THE BALL AT ALL. IF YOU DONT WANT HIM TO RETURN IT THAN KICK IT OUT OF BOUNDS WITHOUT IT HITTING THE GROUND. YOU MUST KICK IT DOWN THE MIDDLE, SLIGHTLY THE LEFT OR RIGHT. IN MY GAME WITH AMID ALL BUT 1 KICKOFF THE BALL HIT THE GROUND OUTSIDE THE ENDZONE AGAINST THE RULE WAY TO THE LEFT BETWEEN THE SIDELINE AND THE NUMBERS AGAINST THE RULE. Quick weekend roundup =
Leeroy's stats are getting pretty high... someone's gotta do something about that! His generic D-line is racking up the sacks. Curtis Little - 9 sacks. Chris Hope - 6 INT's in 8 games.
Suggs 2 Forced Fumbles in 5 games.
Matt Stover is a surprising 6 for 9 in FG's so far! Misses came inside the 50 also.
Jaguars have 7 drops in 2 games! They need to hang on to the ball!
Gore has to be leading in all purpose yardage.
I've seen MULTIPLE 200 yard receiving games already this season... something I think is kind of rare.
Jacksonville's tackling machine Mike Peterson has 21 tackles in 2 games.
Longest Punt - SF - BLASTED it 61 yards.
SF is also a cool 11 for 11 in the redzone!
In 5 games the Ravens defense has only allowed 1 score out of 5 attempts inside the 20, and it was a FIELD GOAL! That's 20% scoring percentage people!
In 5 games San Fransisco's QB has only been sacked 7 times! He's playing very smart ball.

Stover missed 2 field goals in the 3 point loss to the Broncos. I think the wind was only 2 MPH. He choked. The moving arrow adds a little drama doesn't it?

Good stuff CreatineKasey, the stats 2K provide are amazing.
Stover missed 2 field goals in the 3 point loss to the Broncos. I think the wind was only 2 MPH. He choked. The moving arrow adds a little drama doesn't it?
SF's QB will wake up one morning and realize he is just a generic. :o
It's funny, I played a America's Game LG and I felt like a god with my bronze CAP Jim McMahon.
Playing with a generic Qb, can make you a better player. You MUST make the right throw, and know what to throw.
Get him hit a few times and he'll go into a shell for a stretch. I was lucky to escape my last game.

I do give Mr. Generic QB quite a bit of help though.
In league games, more often then not, if you gap wrong against a gold HB, its a certain 8-10 yd gain, and a decent chance of 20 yd+ gain.
People need to account for that at all times, plus I have a stonwall silver OL..which gives me good protection.

This league may prove that under competent hands the stonewall ability can have a substantial effect!
When I first got this game I used the only silver stonewall OL thinking it had to be a good ability haha!

Yes my WR's will not hold on to the ball. If they would have caught the last one last night I would have won but Matt Jones dropped in end zone on 4th Down!!
I am deciding to use a ILB manually when I play now so I put 3 legend D-Line on my line to stop the O-Line from blocking me and therefore allows me to go sideline to sideline with my Bronze Mike Peterson with Quick Feet :)
If I had some safeties on this team than this defense would be GREAT!
I played Leeroy in 2 games last night.
One game in REZ League and one in NFL 2K8 3 league. I have the Steelers in REZ League and this teams defense I built is the best I have ever used. I am running the traditional 3-4 the Steelers are known for and it has been fun. In my game with Leeroy we finished the game with me winning the game and Leeroy mustered 3 points the whole game. Steelers had 6 sacks on the day and Polamalu had 3 interceptions.
In my game in NFL 2K8 3 my Jaguars were winning late into the 3rd Q 7-3. Leeroy made a few connections to his WR's and and I lost the game :( Both D-Line made plays for me. Paul Spicer and John Henderson both had 2 sacks each with Nick Eason getting 1 also. Jags D-Line had 5 sacks total and this helps out my secondary big time.

DL's make a world of difference for any manual LB play.
I also noticed that you created Mike Peterson as a OLB. Smart.
If you made him a bronze MLB, he would have poor sideline to sideline pursuit ability.
As a OLB subbed in at MLB, he will be much more rangy.

Yea you can't create a good ILB at all. I have tried so many times I have given up on it. Most allow you to sub LB so creating him as an OLB and subbing him at ILB is the way I went to create a real ILB. The best ILB in this game is Dave Wilcox if you sub him in at ILB. All the ILB in the game suck except Brian Bosworth for some reason. If the ILB has run reader than your doomed as well.

I can almost see what rayman is trying to say, but inorder to get that perspective..... that person would have to have no experience in online gameplay to understand what you're really trying to say. I think he's taking it literally. Anyways... in our game, there was about 11 secs left to play and I just went up by 7. So I squib kicked the ball down the middle of the field. I had took the lead by 7 with about 2 mins to play and his gold hb took the kickoff to the house and he went for 2 to go up by 1... and I didn't want that to happen again. I thought I saw that squib kicking was ok, but when I looked at the rules today I couldn't find it. Is that allowed? Ray said squibs were only allowed if the clock would run out on the kickoff.

Squib kicking means you are kicking it low and straight. You can do this whenever you want during the game. Just as long as your not corner kicking than its ok.

He played all of season II and it never came up, perhaps he didn't have a gold HB kick returner and didn't care.

You left out the part that I only got those 3 points because you gave them to me when you muffed a punt at like the 8 yard line and in 3 plays I was unable to get sacked enough to move myself out of FG range. Video is up. You kicked my azs so bad. :(

Yeah, I learned that the run reader attribute on a LB, dooms him to paralyisis. I made that mistake NFLPS, with David Harris, and watched make a grand total of 12 tackles for a season.
Run Readers is GREAT for safeties though. They really fill the lanes on runs with it.
