Where are these rumors coming from?
The first time i heard it mentioned was in the blog that Ron was doing and the person that mentioned it pulled it out of the air.
Personally, I don't believe rumors because they are usually wishful thinking and/or unsubstantiated reports. Until there is an official announcement from 2K about features for the game, assume that the announcers are the same.

i think they might change, Only if Joe and Jon declined to come to 2K to record more audio. They can't go two years with the same announcers. If they did come into the studio thats good, because Joe and Jon aren't bad announcers when it comes down to it. Its just the in game announcing thats bad.
If it had to change, i'd choose Joe Buck and McCarver.. i think its McCarver? Fox broadcasting is what im trying to say.

Bleh, Joe Buck and McCarver would almost be a step down. At least Jon Miller is tolerable. Yeah, Joe Morgan blows, but Joe Buck and McCarver combined are quite clueless.

Yes, they have been changed.
And I hope you feel better now, even though it may or may not be true because I have no idea. Just trying to cheer you up.

The creators of the many Fire McCarver blogs and petitions agree with you. McCarverisms:
During Game 5 of the 2006 NLCS, on a pitch to Jose Reyes, McCarver says, “That pitch wasn’t down and in, that pitch was down and up.” Too bad you can't go up and down at the same time.
"Roy Oswalt is a drop and drive pitcher. What is a drop and drive pitcher? He is a guy who drops and drives. Very simple." (2005 WS Game 4, 10/26) Very insightful Tim!
1993 World Series, Phillies vs. Blue Jays: "Watch Darren Daulton use his mitt like a glove." And the other option would be...?
"There is a world of difference between a count of one ball and two strikes is a lot different situation than hitting with two strikes and one ball." (Read it a few times, you'll get it.)

It sounds like he's trying to imitate Yogi Berra. Just not very well.

if they got tim mccarver to do this game, then im sorry and no offense to 2k, but i will spend 400 bux or however much it is to buy a ps3 and play the show so i dont have to listen to him. nothing ruins the world series quite like mccarver. if he was in mvp 05 the game would have been one of the worst ever. its just that simple. tim mccarver is retarded.

they should use Harry Kalas. That would be awesome!!
the catch 85

Harry Kalas would put people to sleep, sorry guys. Just update Morgan and Miller so we don't have to hear about stuff Carlos Beltran did 4 years ago.

Don Orsillo and the Rem Dog should call games. LOL!! JK. It would be awesome for me and any Red Sox fan out there. Well, real Red Sox fans anyways.

i think Kalas would be awesome. course im saying that because i'm a phillies fan. But still, a commentor booth of Kalas, Wheels, and Mathews would be perfect for 2k9.

we should have milo hamilton and tim mccarver. do you know how hilariously retarded the commentary between those 2 would be? mccarver giving horrible and obvious analysis, milo putting blue stars on every play, then being old and going senile during the recording commentary. it would make 2k worth buying on that alone.

Bob Brenly and Len Casper...
in my dreams. I really like their commentary together though. No way in hell they'd make it. Im leaning towards it being Joe and Jon again, but actually having new commentary.

Personally, I think it would be a cool idea to have every announcer do recordings for the game, and for every game you play, you are hearing that home stadiums announcers. You could also implement the feature where your schedule has games that are nationally broadcasted games, for instances where you have a huge game or if it is playoff time in franchise mode, so you can use a national broadcast team. I think it would be complicated, but definitely possible.
If not, use Ken "The Hawk" Harrelson and Steve Stone, mainly for Stoney, he's the man. Hawk is just pure fun and excitement, so he'd be fun too!

Ofcourse, there could be an option to change the announcing to whoever you want to hear, in the audio section of the settings, if you don't want to hear certain people talking or have a preference on who you like to hear.

Haha I don't care who it is as long as it IS NOT Joe Buck or Tim McCarver. They suck, they're monotonous, and they're Philadelphia biased. Only my opinion though. I'll still buy the game, I'll just play with crowd noise up and the commentators off.

I wish they have different commentators each team and im sick of the espn commentators the last few years and the sounds basically same every year

i wish they could just do a voice over of teams announcers and use that.
ex. yankees have kay and who ever else it would defintley sound better.
they have the technology but thats 2k a one star performance

that would be cool, but the salaries would be outrageous. They'd have to first bring in every announcer, which wouldn't really work unless it was required, have them all work days of announcing, and pay them at the same time.
Haha, im pretty sure they'll stick to one set of announcers. LEN & BOB!

Yeah, I believe that's what I said earlier, last post on the 2nd page. I think it would be complicated but not impossible to have every teams announcers just run lines. It'd be a very cool thing and would make general gameplay a lot more enjoyable.

The only way that could work is if they used something like I suggested a few years ago.
http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140399&highlight=create+announcer
The create your own announcer kit!!
It would come with a
-Microphone
-Server space where you can save files online to share with others and create mega links for leagues.
-Software for whatever you know stuff like echoing your voice for PA announcing..
For this to work you would probably need close to 5 gigs of HDD space. This would be right up the ally for PS 3 owners but 360 owners would likely need to put on another 30 bucks for a larger HDD. That would be fine with me.
of coarse it would be compatible with all 2k sports games at 19.99 without HDD and 59.99 with the HDD.
With NBA 2k9 you could dload announcer files and every team in every 2k sports game would have its own announcers some of which would sound just like real announcers with all the impersonators out there. Granted there would be some issues and some hoops to jump through with Sony and MS. I think they would both like something that would promote their online service.
VC already stated that they are going to focus more on presentation. Custom soundtracks will probably be back even if we have to edit the music ourselves. Imagine if every team had its own announcer, its own commentary, its own PA announcer, and stadium music.
Now thats a revolutionary feature.

Yeah, that could work. I definitely think it's something that they should look into doing. Even if the smoothness of the gameplay is more important than sound, it would be a great thing to put into games. Hopefully they will at least look into adjusting the audio so it's not so repetitive.

Not only the repetition, but so that it would actually fit with what is taking place or had taken place on the screen.
I got so sick of all the inside the park homeruns that somehow seem to keep happening in the bottom of the seventh inning for the visiting team although they scored no runs in that inning commentary that i turned all that crap off. I cannot believe how off the commentary is for 2K8. It is unbelievable. This is a major issue that needs to be addressed for 2K9.
I said this before and Im going to say it again, but keep in mind this is NOT an official announcement from 2K. Don't expect anything new this year. With a new production team coming in, I think that their main focus will be to fix the mess the previous one created. Just expect to see a lot of "improved" for the feature list.
I have a very hard time believing now that Brinkman was the main brain behind the MVP series. That series was phenomonal and you would think that he would be eager to bring those same ideas and work them into the 2K series and he did nothing even remotely close. All he gave us was a stupid baseball card collection system and all three levels of the minor leagues.
If they want the baseball card thing brought back for this year, they should save the disc space and have people download it for free and save it on their harddrives. Don't use up the valuable disc space for something so corny. If they could have put all the effort they invested into that baseball card thing into game modes and gameplay for last year, the game would have rocked.
