Release MLB2k9 around May or June...To hell with the shareholders and their profit deadlines, the success of this game is PARAMOUNT to the survival of 2k Sports! A few more months could make magic

You may lose a few sales to The Show on PS3, but in the end you will reclaim the respect which will translate into more sales over time.....

Please LISTEN to me

And this will increase sales how? The MLB games are usually among the first to release each year, and that makes them a hot commodity. And besides, it wouldn't be smart at all to try and let The Show get that much of an edge. That game is already superior judging by all the reviews.

A sweet piece of advice is to get the game right, and the rest will take care of itself. A March or April release is fine though.

Well what ever it takes to get a playing baseball game. If they need the time to tweak some things and fix some bugs take the time and release it whenever. I think the quality of the game is going to be more important then when it comes out. I mean i just can't seem the advancing that much this year with a new developer and new engine and expect anything special. Most likely will get a bare bones game i wouldnt mind if, for once after about 4 years i can actually play a decent baseball game again.

Longterm sales for 2k in GENERAL, my shortsighted friend.....

its not gonna happen, if u look at most sports titles they normally released prior to the season starting, doubt they would release a game 2-3 months into the season lol..like thrash said they are not gonna let the show have 2 months of exposure without any competition, both games will be relased aroudn the same time

Actually, 2K did release NHL2k6 on Xbox 360 a few months after the season started. Of course NHL06 from EA was complete garbage and was only available on previous gen consoles ( Xbox and PS2) which means that 2k had no ompetiton on current gen (360 and PS3) consoles. This is similar in the case of MLB and the 360 so they could do it if they wanted to.

That is right...For 360 owners, there is no choice..So why not 2k???

It is the smart move

Considering the rep of The Show vs MLB2k8, the only way to reverse things is to hit 'em hard with a killer title...

Of course I agree it probably won't happen, but it should...I am sick of all this robotic behavior.

IMO MLB2k8 was a good game..Not great, but good...For hardcore baseball fans like myself, it is hard to get past some of the CPU A.I. issues like not stealing and stuff, but I liked the pitching and hitting more than most I guess.

In contrast,I think the hitting and pitching in The Show is kinda lame...But this was made up for by attention to details.

trust me. the only game i really play for the 360 is baseball... and if they released the game in June, I'd for sure go sell my console and buy a PS3... what a horrible idea. They'd lose almost everything. People would have two months to get a PS3 and im sure a lot of people would do it. Why would you even say this? They wouldn't work on it the whole time anyway most likely.

MLB sets the release date. They cannot break that or they will have to pay a huge fine.

for baseball i believe you can release it whenever you like though. I remember hearing that on pastapadre. Football, and basketball are different. They must set a date and release it than. Thats why we've seen the baseball companies both release it a week early the past two years. MLB 2K in 2006 and The Show in 2007.

Ok then, point out to the MLB that a better product means better sales and in turn possibly more revenue for Baseball in the form of greater fan interest...

I am sure they want this game to be released 100%, not 85% complete for a change.

...And I'm one of the few people out there who actually makes a good case for MLB2k being on par with The Show.....So in other words, most people would probably say MBL2k8 was only about 65% done.

but if MLB 2K9 is released 2-3 months later then that leaves 2-3 less months for all the rest of their games to be released if they want to release it March again. Or they will have the same amount of time to create a new game as they always have, but will have to release them 2-3 months later then they normally would and you would whine and complain about a bad game + late release.

So basically you are asking for the rest of the MLB 2K baseball series to be released 2-3 months later forever for MLB 2K9 to have a few more months spent on it.

Bad idea.

Worse than releasing it last year with that framerate and other issues?

I think not

Since 2k is basically down to Basketball and baseball, it is tantamount to this company that this game doth impress

If they can do it by March, great. If not then they will never get to renew the MLB license.

Or you could just slip the cable guy $50 bucks so he'll give you all the dirty channels for free.
