Last week some information along with a video leaked out from an event held by SCEA that included MLB 09: The Show. Now another preview has come out of this event with this one courtesy of UGO Games Blog. Much of what the preview entails is what was mentioned in that first preview. New animations, improved graphics, and progressive lighting. But there are some significant new details revealed also.
There are feature additions as well… Salary arbitration, trade rights and 40-man rosters will all now factor into the game’s team management-focused decisions. The created player-focused “Road to the Show Mode” will also now offer a full practice mode in which players can improve their stats (or hurt them, if things go sour). And finally, expect to see more crowd interactions, team mascots, field wear as each game progresses and – of course – Trophy support.
What’s more, gamers will be able to use a built-in music editor(?!) to cut up and edit walk-up music and the like. A voice recorder even allows for user-created crowd yells. Just don’t expect the Sony Cops to enable the sharing of potentially AO-rated chants online.
Great to hear about the Road to the Show practice mode. The other items all extend on what SCEA has done well with this series over the past few years and that is representing all the little things that make up the sport and translating that to an authentic gaming experience

all that shounds good and stuff but who besides me wants a real crowd i ean have we not reached the day and age where the crowd just reupts i mean cmon now ea has it in its ncaa football games i mean thing about it who has the most jacked fans? must i direct you to an angles or a rays game where as soon as some action his all u c is towels waving i mean is it that hard will it take that long to add some type of crowd feature in the game ok when my team won the world series last year sure they did a better job of having the players go crazy but now the crowd the same dull modest cheering went on. im a realist and c that we will never have good exciting announcing in a 2k game i love that announce team on tv but in the game 2k limits them and they suck but ne way just more presentaion is what im BEGGING 4, loud fans, towels, excitement, and if its bottom of the 9th in a cubs cards game im up 3-2 bases loaded 2 out and pujols is at the plate and i got marmol (who is looking like our new closer) in the game and he strikes him out i better see some damn excitement if they can make a guy pose and such when they hit a home run i wanna c some excitement on the pitching side...... i know its alot with no type of order but thats all i really want

Guys, if you wanna chat with each other, use PM's or the community site. Don't derail a thread.
I have no clue what all to expect from MLB 2K9 feature-wise. Since the game is not being done by VC and they are rebuilding some parts of the game entirely, I wouldn't expect a ton of new features to be put into the game. VC rebuilt most of NHL 2K9 from the ground up, and they took out some features. I hope they don't take out features from the MLB game, but I also don't expect a bunch of new ones either. Not this year, at least.

not having a player career mode is pretty much unacceptable. MLB: The Show had it in 06. It will soon be 2K9...... many people expected 2K8 to have it, and if 2K9 doesn't.... I might just have to skip it unless it really does a lot with Franchise (because that's what I mainly like).

MLB 2K9 is set to be one of the ONLY sports games w/o a career mode. All the games are getting it now. Its pretty much a must. Theres only a few left w/o it, and they will change soon.

NHL 2K9 and NBA 2K9 don't have a career mode either.

Well, you could play on player lock and do a makeshift career mode......

waivers, salary abritration, 40 man, rule v...... all franchise features i always would have loved to see but figured they COULDNT do it cuz of disk space, but now i see they CAN. OMFG what has taken so long for a game to do this!?!? Im so sick of the generic franchise capture, send players up and down freely, sign contracts, amatuer draft..... booooooo need more depth and the show finally got it!! woo! i hope 2k does this. it just adds soooooooooo much more to franchise. throw those cards out who cares about that crap, we want baseball!!!
