Hmmm I didn't see anything that said they were so I thought they were normal 4-3. I will be creating them as a 3-4 so I can get them all on the field at the same time.

Yes that is what I watched on NFL Network that made me make this post. It doesn't say anything about the 3-4 though.

swilling went both ways on that defense, he lined up a defensive end alot, but i think they ran a hybrid 3-4/4-3 with swilling at the defensive end spot

yes they did run a 3-4. Sam Mills should be the gold, Swilling a Silver, Johnson played inside.

Rickey Jackson 128 sacks, 1,173 Tackles & 8 Int = Gold
Vaughn Johnson 12 Sacks , 669 Tackles & 4 Int = Bronze
Patrick Swilling 107.5 Sacks, 468 Tackles, 17 Sacks in 1 season & 6 Int = Silver or Gold
Sam Mills 20.5 Sacks, 1,142 tackles & 11 Int = Silver or Gold
There stats are what I go by and by those alone I justify my tiers.
Compared to derrick thomas who is the game as a Gold OLB
Derrick Thomas 126.5 Sacks, 20 Sacks in 1 Season, 1 Int, 601 Tackles
It does show on Football reference that they did play a 3-4!!!!

They should all have Big Hits since that is what you see them do every play. Derrick Thomas is a beast cover guy in this game which makes me laugh. He has better hands then ever LB in the game. Its funny how he was only a rush OLB with 1 INT yet he can make so many int and especially spectacular ones.

2k did a bad job on some legends, and i think derrick thomas' coverage attributes might be the perfect example. he hardly ever was asked to cover downfield, he may have had to cover a back ever now and then, but that was no where near his strong suit.

They definitely need to fix the blocking AI. Sometimes is ****es me off that my linemen on pass block go crazy and doesn't block a 3 man rush when I have 7 blocking. I hate it how when I run block and my pulling guard on run plays ignores the linebacker or oncoming defender. They need to fix zone blocking real bad. I hate it how I see two generic linemen on run blocking double teaming 1 balance DT all game.

Jackson and Swilling were wonderful players.
I remember that group well. That team would be like having Demarucs Ware, James Harrison, Joey Porter, and Patrick Willis all on the same team.
Those were good teams. Dalton Hilliard was a pro bowl caliber back, Eric Martin at Wr, Morten Anderson, Bobby Hebert. They just could not get aby further then divisional round because they'd always end up facing the 9ers. Bad timing.

Hey if they would of won more games during the season they could of been the 2nd seed facing someone easier haha. Not really bad timing its just them not having a good record and always being the 6th seed having to face the 1st seed which in most cases was either the cowboys or the 49ers.

Running with 4 LB's is a lot of fun. Middle zones are real tough to throw in with all legend LB's. Also, it allows you to mix up your playcalling without exposing weaknesses, because you'll have much fewer with those LB's.
I saw that show this weekend too. I agree with Pittsburgh's radio personality :P

Derrick Thomas has Coverage bonus??????
My one real beef with Thomas is that he's so freaking fast I over run the ball carrier.

Hebert was an above average QB. Rueben Mayes & Dalton Hilliard had promise till they blew out their knees(1 good year for both thats all, Mayes rookie of the year in 87, Hilliard All-Pro in 89, both blew their knees the following year). Martin was a very slow possesion WR(2k could've gave him soft hands, strength, TIM, Bulldoizer, along with Bump Buster). We had Brett Perriman for awhile till free agency came. But we were in the same division as the 49ers those years. We went 12-3 in 87 that still wasn't good enough to win the NFC West. Just like today we had a questionable secondary(Toi Cook was the Fred Thomas & Jason David of the 80s Flipper Anderson burn him for 336 yds still an NFL record). And last we had & still have a cheap skate owner who cares nothing about the Saints winning, "just sellout those seats baby"

What about Willie Lainer, Bobby Bell, and Jim Lynch. All 3 of them went to the Pro-Bowl in '68.

I believe they were voted on as 3rd all time.
If the Saints had what Pittsburg had on offense they would have won a lot of games.
