I know it is a little late for 2K9, but it seems to me that the solution to breaking Madden's monopoly is to

1st keep the same concept, but to make more logos and stadiums that are similar, just as they do on the game now. I.E. dophins = porposies. I mean hell we are doing it anyway. allow uniforms to be more extensive.

2nd They could make all of the players just general size etc... Allow all names to be chaged. within a week there will be tons of roster downloads.

3rd do not worry about the legends, just allow each person to be modified, allow us to choose about the same as a an NFL roster. I mean the concept of bronze players etc... it good makby keep that.

Wala Problem Solved!!!!! This is a great game.

People say this all the time. They didn't want to make a generic NFL game.

I think they have a good foundation with APF 2k8. They need to add offline modes such as mini-games and definitely a Franchise mode. And they need to obviously add players, logos, colors, etc.

I also remember them talking about customizing stadiums. I think that would be a great idea. I also think it would be cool if you could pick your coach, which provides different play selections. For example, if you picked a Bill Cowher type coach, you'd have more run-based offense. But if you picked a Mike Martz type coach, you'd have a lot of pass plays in your playbook.

And of course they could add new animations and enhance the graphics.

APF 2k8 is a bare-boned game with a ton of potential. There's so many directions that they could take this game if they wanted to. Sadly, I don't think they'll ever make a new APF game. But if they decided to do one and they did it the right way, along with actually marketing the game properly, I think the game would do really well. People are getting tired of Madden and they remember when 2k5 once wore the crown . . .
