MLB: FOM - PC Controls?

What are the controls for the PC? I can't figure out what the X and Y buttons are, the game tells me the controls for consoles. And when i click "Player Info" button in the bottom, for example, all i get is the first guy in the lineup. How do i view the info the guys that aren't in the first spot?

Also, where can i find a list of the controls so i can setup my logitech controller instead?

EDIT: Here's a simple fix:
Unplug whatever controller you have plugged in (should work, untested), OR
Delete and/or move the keypad.txt file from the MLB FOM Folder/data/controls and it should now work like normal.

Glad to see i'm not only one with this problem. And I'm also getting angry. The simplest things cannot be done. I'm regretting ever picking up the game because if something this simple is this big of a problem, whats gonna be next?

It sure seems to me that these Game Devolopers don't care about us PC gamers anymore.....
How hard would it have been to check and make sure the controls work on our PC release before you decide to ship it and sell it! This is like microsoft sellign an incomplet operation system, or like buying a car that only the right blinker workers and the lights will only work when you turn the brights on!

Cmon this is rediculous. And the sad thing is once a Game's package has been opened you can't return it or anything your just screwed!

BTW i did find a folder in the program files folder named Data/controls that has key mappings.... however after spending a couple hours of trying to edit them to work properly, i have had no success. And the list of Keys listed really don't make any sense!!!

Any screen that I do it on (be it the 40 man roster, payroll etc) it takes me into the player info.

Infact you can do it two ways.

1) just hover over the player and right click (not the way I said earlier with teh left click first, thats not needed)

or

2) Left click on the player to highlight him and then click on the Player info (with the Xbox Y button beside it) *this only seems to work on some of the screens.

I'd assume the problem was with having another controller type plugged in other then the xbox controller. Do you guys have another controller plugged in?

yes it does, most everything is now clickable as it wasn't be4, and Y key is right click.... haven't tested them all yet but game is actually playable now, before i couldn't access players stats or anything like that.

if you click them with left mouse they work. where it shows L or R you just simply click them.

That is not true. There was some issues with keyboard keys not all working... and they were resolved in this thread. Do fix it Simply goto where you installed the game find Data folder and then controls folder and then delete the file padmap.txt and then keyboard and mouse controls work just fine.

I thought I read it did not fix all keyboard controls but only some. Maybe I read it wrong. Seems a little silly that I have to fix the program so it works correctly.

It doesn't fix the keyboard controls, the fix is to use your mouse to play which is all you will need and want.
You only have to fix it if you have another controller type plugged in other then the xbox contoller.

Then there is the website that is supposed to have the "full" manual. Does not exist. Its a blasted DVD, put the manual there. Not like I can get any MLB licensed game on PC since EA lost the rights. I was excited about this game til I got it home.

I actually bought the wireless adapter for the 360 controller to be used on a PC. And despite the game even displaying the 360 controller buttons, not a single one works. The controller works everywhere outside the game so it's not an issue with the controller. It wouldn't be the biggest problem if the keyboard/mouse actually had counterparts... (it doesn't) or if you could actually, gee, view and edit controls?

This, and the fact that the game doesn't allow you to use your edited rosters in Career (the primary mode) makes the game currently unplayable. I could live with some of the mistakes with the stats/rules until a patch if I could even get that far in the game... I'm growing impatient before I return/sell it and just wait for OOTP 10 like I should have all along.

I don't believe the game has any controller support for the PC.
The game can be entirely controlled using just the mouse.

The fix was for(i think if you install the game with a controller plugged in)people that couldn't get the mouse to work properly: example if you right click a player it used to back out to previous menu, with the fix i discovered: you right click a player and it shows the stat screen(stat,contract and other stuff).

I %100 agree... I don't pirate games mainly because I know how hard developers work on them (that, and i don't want viruses or to get sued). But this is why many people do these days. Its also why i wait for several weeks before i buy a new game. I waited for positive feedback on fallout 3 before i bought it and love the product, but bad feedback kept me away from GTA IV and now this. I love MLB, and was hoping this would be a good game because the PC got left out of MLB '09 "the show" last year. but this thread is just more proof that the game industry has lost its way and is the cause of its own misery when it comes to piracy (anyone remember SPORE/DRM?). the problem is that the purchasing public like me gets screwed up the bum.

Sounds like you need to do the fix i posted earlier in this forum.
Delete the file padmap.txt located in your FOM/data/controls folder.

Unplug it, then plug it back in ? When ? When the games loaded ? --- Are you serious ? What is that possibly gonna do ? And shouldn't you have " tested " this before you released it ? It doesn't work anyway. I just tried it. I can't believe this ****. So, this is the scenario.. Your company never even tried the PC port before releasing it. I know ya didn't. If ya did, you would know the Xbox 360 controller isn't functional in it. And if your company did try it, all they did was, load the game, click a few things, then exit it and say, " OK. Ok here is another tip for you game creators, Let the enduser be the one who decides if the game can run on a certain video card, Cuz i can play a certan football PC game 08 with no problems, now what you are telling me when my video card is not suported is that your game MLB FOM is more graphic intense. I just dont think its true. what kind of animations are in there because from what i have seen online they arent or dont seem to be any better than the game i just took out of my CDrom you know that football game. OK, I'll play along - I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in at every potential opportunity; it doesn't work. I tried editing the padmap.txt - nothing. I tried re-installing the drivers for the controller - nothing. I tried reinstalling, replugging, rebooting, reloading in all sorts of different orders - nothing. You're assuming the issues are on the user side and that's clearly not the case.

Isn't this considered BETA testing? Shouldn't I be able to download the game for free to do this for you? How many games make you purchase the game to BETA test for them? Maybe I'm behind on my gaming but I do not know of any. Shouldn't this have been done before the "release" of the game?

Is it not a legit question? If he wants us to BETA test we should be able to do it for free and not have to purchase the game first. Heck, they should have given us a trail version that only works for a month, and asked for help. I'm sure EVERYBODY would have loved for a chance to try out the game and find bugs. We all believe in the concept of the game and would be willing to give our feedback to make it that much better. Then people would have NO problems with shelling out cash to play it, knowing full well it was working properly.

And Bobby you can get off your high horse, because I've seen it on other websites that typically they have a PR person that posts on the forums and not an actual programmer or tester. Do you know what job Ron has at 2K? If so, then I'm surprised and I could be wrong. But as a company they should at least address the issues, especially if they know there are issues. A simple post saying:

"We know there are issues and we believe the following are the highest priority: blah blah blah. The release date of our first bug fix will be: ___ Feb 2009 plus or minus a day or two. After which we will address the following second tier of issues: blah blah blah."

Or something like that. Does anybody actually know if they are working on bug fixes? No. It took awhile but we finally know they are working on a deeper manual for those that do not understand how the game has been set up to work. To know what controls do what and how they function.

Not sure if this is related or not but I have been unable to figure out how to move a Pending Transaction player onto a team. No matter what mouse or keyboard button I hit nothing happens. There are open slots on the team I am trying to move them to.

Like I mentioned I am using just the keyboard and mouse.

I figured I would provide an update. I was assuming that it was a single action that would move the player from the Pending Transaction list to the Team list...since that is how it worked on another one of the screens. However, I first needed to click on the pending player and then click on the open team slot in order to move him there.

I haven't tried all the different screens, but I'm thinking (hoping) I should now be able to play.

I've never had a 'controller' attached...only a mouse and keyboard. Also, I did not have to rename the padmap.txt file that had been mentioned in the thread.

Turn down the graphic settings, your graphic card isn't good enough to run the game on high. Turn anti-aliasing completely off it has the option, it should give you the biggest boost. If you still lag after that, turn the resolution down to 800x600. That should help it run smoother.
