Yeah man, I'm a Cards fan as well. If I started one I'd probably trade Ludwick and someone else to get a top pitcher. I know it might not sound realistic, but I want to bring up Rasmus. Actually I'd probably wait one year and trade Ludwick and Glaus together and bring up Rasmus and Wallace.

AlbertPujolsFreak5
February 15th, 2009, 12:59 AM
Hmmm...that's interesting but I think that I would take Ankiel and Duncan and get a pitcher and then trade Glaus to get a good second baseman and then bring up Wallace and then you have room for Rasmus and Mather...just a thought

February 15th, 2009, 01:02 AM
Yeah, but I kind of have a man crush on Ankiel jk. lol But everyone in STL loves that guy.I was there for his first game back in the Majors. It was awesome!! Yeah I forgot bout Mather. If the Cards farm system is rated correctly it should be pretty good on the game. Also we need someone who can swipe some bases.

that baseball tonight idea sounds cool. i think that i want to put like a hot stove thing or an mlb tonight thing that the mlb network has. it would be sweet if you did espn and i did the mlb network. heck we could make all these franchises intervene and like have Q&A's with all the different franchise owners and stuff. that would be pretty sweet

I will be doing the ESPN theme...depending on how the poll that I have put up turns out I will have Top 10 plays and Milestones. Videos of certain things such as, injuries, home runs, hits, etc.

NEPatriot77712
February 15th, 2009, 01:22 AM
very cool. i dont want to copy you, so maybe ill do an mlb network theme with some different things.

AlbertPujolsFreak5
February 15th, 2009, 01:25 AM
I don't mind if you do the same thing...I'm copying ESPN so....and I didn't even inform them so...lol...but seriously I think it would be really hard on you to do MLB Network so why don't you do ESPN? Although MLB Network is advertised in the game so you may have the upper hand...lol

February 15th, 2009, 01:28 AM
Whatever you do make sure our boy Alberto brings home the MVP lol ;). Then we'll know it's realistic. jk! Good luck to ya man I'd post mine, but for some reason I have ADD when it comes to franchises in any game lol. I play em for a week tops then want to start a new one all the time. I like the fantasy draft a lot too. I always draft with a different stragety. Like sometimes I'll go with all speedy athletic guys like the Uptons.

NEPatriot77712
February 15th, 2009, 01:28 AM
idk to be honest the video thing is going to be difficult so you can go with that. I do want to do some Q&A's with the owners though. Like talk to you about your upcoming season and stuff like that and then post it under the name Mlb Network or ESPN.

AlbertPujolsFreak5
February 15th, 2009, 01:30 AM
lol...ya I used to be like that but then it became more fun trying to bring home a MVP instead of play like 20 games and call it quits and then you go do another one...its always more fun for me if I see stats build up over time. Like also trying to break certain records...Pujols baby...74 home runs...predicting it...lol

I will be using the 2kshare for the videos and then upload them onto here and then use a little iMovie to mess with it...I didn't understand what you were talking about when you said owners and talking to them but now I get it...lol....GREAT IDEA! mind if i ask you a few questions...lol i can already see it!

NEPatriot77712
February 15th, 2009, 01:39 AM
well i mean i can upload videos off 2kshare and then send them to you to do that imovie or whatever you called it haha and we could just send each other stats. i think it could work for sure! but yeah ill talk to you about it tommorow

CARDS2501
February 15th, 2009, 08:01 AM
What they really should do is figure out a way to trade Ludwick, Schumaker and Freese for a pitcher like Jake Peavy. Then spend the ****ing money to sign Manny Ramirez. Move Brendan Ryan to second base and then call up Colby Rasmus. They would have a lineup/rotation that couldn't be beat in a 7 game series.

LINEUP
CF Colby Rasmus
RF Rick Ankiel
1B Albert Pujols
LF Manny Ramirez
3B Troy Glaus
C Yadier Molina
SS Khalil Greene
Pitchers Spot
2B Brendan Ryan

BENCH
Chris Duncan
Brian Barden
Joe Mather
Jason LaRue
Jarrett Hoffpauir

ROTATION
Jake Peavy
Chris Carpenter
Adam Wainwright
Kyle Lohse
Todd Wellemeyer

BULLPEN
Kyle McClellan
Trevor Miller
Jason Motte
Brad Thompson
Joel Pineiro
Chris Perez
Royce Ring

I know that this is only a "fantasy" lineup but I would be willing to bet that they could win 105-110 games with a team like this if they could put it together in real life...and its not really that much of a stretch if DeWitt would only open up DeWallet!

I hope he never hits 74 homers in a season...it seems like when you do something like that you are just setting yourself up for a steroid investigation. If he is on them I wouldn't care but I would rather not know.

I'd follow as well, you need to make Schumaker your second baseman...he will be eventually. That is what he is going to have to do in order to stay on the Cardinals...too much potential in the outfield.

When Rasmus comes up, do you think Ankiel will move over to left, or Rasmus?

yeah...ludwick in left. That makes sense. Can't wait for the season to start. Gonna be a good year i think. Just imagine how many wins we would have had last year with a consistent closer. Hopefully one of the guys can pull it together this year.

From what i've read the last couple of years...if Rasmus makes the team or he is called up, LaRussa wants him to play everyday. Otherwise he can keep developing in Memphis. He will not be a bench player. When he makes it...he's got it. Schumaker is going to take some reps at second base this spring. They are hoping he can catch onto it quickly. The big picture is for him to be the second baseman from 2010 on. That's what they hope anyway.

Yeah I know when he's called up he'll play, but he's not starting the year out at MLB level. Good info though I hadn't heard of the Schumaker move to second yet. Hopefully he can pull it off. It's one of the hardest posititons defensivley.

I believe Rasmus has a good shot at starting in CF this year. He's healed, he's put on a bunch of muscle this offseason and he's ready to go.

I really think they're linup will look like
2B - Schumaker
CF - Rasmus
1B - Pujols
LF - Ludwick
RF - Ankiel
SS - Greene
C - Molina
P
3B - ? (if freese the linup will look different)

I'm pretty sure they won't let Molina bat 7th, Larussa likes a faster guy in front of the pitcher...and until Greene proves himself, he might see himself in that spot. We'll see though, hopefully Molina can keep up his hitting. It will be interesting to see if one of the 3rd base rookies can put on a show and put some pressure on Glaus when he gets healthy. I love all the young talent so much more than if we were to sign a big name. Easier to root for, and you feel like you watch them grow and develop.

2008/2009 Off Season

This year we have made some moves in the organization. We have also locked up a few players to some short term contracts and long term contracts. Overall we feel that we have accomplished a majority of the goals that we had set for ourselves to do in the off season. With that being said, I would like to give you a complete summary of what we have done as an organization to make our team better for the 2009 baseball season.

This off season we were able to come to an agreement with our pitch coach Dave Duncan. I personally was very happy that he was willing to come back and be our pitching coach.
http://images.stltoday.com/stltoday/resources/duncan329flash.jpg
(left) Dave Duncan (right) Tony LaRussa
http://www.2ksports.com/forums/images/editor/menupop.gif
We were also able to pick up pitcher, Charlie Manning off the waivers. Last year he played for the Washington Nationals.

We have also come to terms with back-up catcher Jason LaRue. We have signed him to a one year deal.

Along with Jason LaRue we have also signed relief pitcher, Trever Miller from the Tampa Bay Rays. He should add some depth to our bullpen. Which was one of our main goals this off season.
http://media.scout.com/media/image/61/617111.jpg
pictured is left handed pitcher; Trever Miller

With letting Cesar Izturis go and Aaron Miles go we felt the need to aquire a player that could fill the shoes of both players and we thought there was no better player than Khalil Greene. He should be good aspect of the team and help us in the are we need him most, shortstop.
http://media.scout.com/media/image/29/296902.jpg
pictured above is Khalil Greene

As far as adressing our needs in the farm system we have gone out and aquired Joe Thurston and Justin Knoedler to minor leage contracts.

We have signed Royce Ring, Brad Thompson, and Todd Wellemeyer to help adress our needs in the bullpen area. We feel that each one of these guys will be able to go out there on the ball-field and help contribute to our team. We feel very comfortable with where we are with these players and their ability to go out there and give us there full 110% each time they take the mound.

(left) Royce Ring, (middle) Todd Wellemeyer, (right) Brad Thompson

To adress our short term needs in the outfield we have decided to resign outfielders Chris Duncan, Rick Ankiel, and Ryan Ludwick. Both Rick Ankiel and Ryan Ludwick we arbitration eligible. However, neither cases went to an arbitration hearing.

http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/52/525242m.jpghttp://media.scout.com/Media/Image/52/525272m.jpghttp://media.scout.com/Media/Image/52/525248m.jpg
(left) Rick Ankiel, (middle) Ryan Ludwick, (right) Chris Duncan

To wrap up the entire off season we have released second baseman, Adam Kennedy. We felt that he wanted out so we relieved him of his contract.

well yea obviously, I tried last year and waited for like two hours, those were the first ones gone but i got two bleacher seats for the game soriano got hurt against the Braves. The first two games I went to last year, Soriano got hurt. The April night game against Cincy and the June night game vs. ATL. Luckily the third time I went, the Cubs won against STL (The Edmonds 2 HR game) and Soriano stayed healthy. There's no place like wrigley.
