NEW YORK YANKEES
ROAD TO 27
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x52/amie414/250px-Yankee_logo.jpg
The New York Yankees have spent an unpresented amount of money this offseason. The Yankees had a rough season last year, as they left their beloved home, the great Yankee Stadium, with only a 3rd place finish, and out of the playoffs.
The Yankees were determined to become a contender over the offseason as they sign three of the top free agents this winter.
C.C. Sabathia and A.J. Burnett come to New York to try to bolster an already deep roatation.
C.C. Sabathia was rapid fire last season with the Brewers, as he was a Cy Young candidate for the N.L., even though he only played 1/2 a season with the Brewers.
A.J. Burnett was always known as a pitcher that can be nasty at times, and even unhittable, but injuries have always nagged his career. Last season was a breakout season for the former Blue Jay. A.J. Had a breakout contract year, and that earned him the big bucks.
The Yankees also added a steller switch hiting 1st Baseman named Mark Texiara to their roster.
Mark has always been an impressive player on offense and defense, and with Mark in New York, the Yankees offense should be nothing to joke about.

Trade Rumors/Block
http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w321/GAPP288/baseball/carlos.jpg
The New York Yankees have aquired interest in speed demon Carlos Gomez. The Yankees have been trying to aquire Gomez since he was in the Minors for the Mets. Now, may finally be there chance to land him.
Several sources from both teams have said that the deal would include Ian Kennady, Melky Cabrera, and a player to be named later from the Yankees for The Twins Carlos Gomez. Both teams are still in negotiations.

Comeback
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb298/YankeesAllDaii/cano_robinson.jpg
Fan Favorite Robinson Cano, spent most of last season partying with teammate Melky Cabrera, sadly it also affected Cano's performance. Cano has all the tools to become a star. He hits for contact and power, has a good glove, and also is a pretty good runner. This season Cano will have to prove he can be great. He has all the tools to do so, we just have to wait and see if he will use them.

Battle For The Pen
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk109/yankees3318/MARIANO.jpg
This Yankees Bullpen will me different from most of their recent pens. This year most of their pen is home grown talent, and they also have a stud lefty.
Mariano Rivera has been the closer of the Yankees for over 10 years now, and overcoming him, is almost impossible.
Damaso Marte was aquired on the MLB Trade Deadline Last Season, and he is the lefty that Girardi has been wishing for since he became the Yankee's Skipper.
Brian Bruney has lost over 50 pounds and is in great shape, and as hard as he throws, he can be a tank.
Edwar Ramirez had a beautiful season last year as a rookie. He has a deadly change up, that even the toughest hitters are baffled by it.
Phil Hughes has been the Yankees top prospect for awhile now, and he is ready to make an impact in the MLB, even if it is not starting. Andy Pettite is on a 1 year deal, and Hughes will likely take his spot. Right now Phil will serve as a long man and an emergancy starter.
Jose Veras was outstanding last season for the Yankees. He was underated coming into last years season, and blew everyone away. He is likely to share the set up role with Damaso Marte this season.
The Last spot will be a battle between Robertson,C.ok.e, Geise, and Sanchez, all young players with exeptional talent.

Yankees Show Interest in Edmonds
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190/lrv2130/Jim%20Edmonds/Edmonds.jpg
Jim Edmonds has had an amazing career, he is one of the best defensive centerfielders ever, and loves the game of baseball. This off-season Jim Edmonds has yet to be signed, and spring training has begun. Like many players this season, he will likely take a huge pay cut to continue to play baseball again. The Yankees have expressed interest in Twins CF, Carlos Gomez, but if it falls through, look for the Gold Glove winning Center Fielder to be in pinstripes.

Just wondering, are the Yanks really looking after Gomez and Edmonds? Or is it a possible move you might make in your franchise?

The Gomez deal was very close a few years ago, but now I dont know.
And the Edmonds deal could happen, but these moves are just for my franchise.

IMO i think you should make your font like a 3 or a 4 because it makes it much easier to read..and as far as font goes..i think navy and black would look pretty good

Yanks Top Prospects: (CF )Jackson and
(C) Montero Gear Up For 09.
Austin Jackson
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a345/Minda33/Ladies%20stuff/468388.jpg
Austin Jackson (CF) was named the Eastern League postseason MVP, largely based on his performance in the championship series. Jackson went 6-for-16 (.375) with a homer and five RBIs.
Scouts reffering to Jackson- "He has made steady, solid progress. He's very athletic and is highly motivated. He's an athlete, with tools and plus makeup who's performing as he moves through the system."
Austin Jackson has a chance at being a 5 tool player and star outfielder for the Yankees. He is fast as lightning, and can hit the ball to either side of the field. Austin will have a bright future in New York, and will have a chance to join the majors this season.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/yankees4815162342/jesusmontero.jpg
Jesus Montero
A teenager in his first full season, Montero hit .309 with a .348 on-base percentage and .453 slugging percentage in the first half and was even better down the stretch -- a good sign for a young hitter. He hit .344 after the South Atlantic League All-Star break, raising his OPS 140 points, thanks to big increases in OBP (.407) and SLG (.534). He led the SAL in hits and was second in batting average. Montero has the potential to be one of the best catchers in the game, with his offensive game, all pitchers should fear his presence.

Jeter Hopes to Win 27th in 09
http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l455/CMONEY747/jeter.jpg
http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l455/CMONEY747/derekcopy.png
New York Yankee captain Derek Jeter thinks the revelations in former manager Joe Torre's new book are old news and is more interested in winning another World Series.
Shortstop Jeter told Reuters on Tuesday he had not yet read "The Yankee Years," a new book by Torre and Tom Verducci, but shrugged off ballyhooed excerpts regarding Alex Rodriguez and his acceptance in the clubhouse.
"I think a lot of these issues are things that have gone on in the past," Jeter said in a telephone interview from Orlando, where he was promoting a new Gillette razor and participating in the Champions of Gaming video tournament.
One excerpt from the book described how Yankee players referred to Rodriguez as "A-Fraud" after baseball's highest paid player joined them in 2004. Another claimed the man more usually nicknamed "A-Rod" was obsessed with the mystique of Jeter.
"To be quite honest with you, I think that people have already answered these questions throughout the years and this stuff is not an issue," Jeter said.
"He (Rodriguez) has got support from everyone in the clubhouse. He's a great player. He's a part of our team so everyone supports him. In terms of talking about the same things year in year out, it gets kind of old."
What does not get old is winning, and after being part of four World Series winners in his first five seasons after joining the Yankees full time in 1996, Jeter said he longed to bring home the trophy for the first time since 2000.
"I think everyone's a little bit frustrated. We haven't been back to the World Series (since 2003), haven't won one in quite some time," he said.
"Our only goal year in, year out is to win a championship, and we haven't gotten that done. We made some great additions this year so hopefully we'll get that opportunity."
The Yankees were baseball's biggest spenders this off-season, forking out more than US$420 million on long-term contracts for pitchers CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and first baseman Mark Teixeira.
"On paper we're good," Jeter said. "To be honest with you every year we're pretty good on paper but you still have to go out there and play.
"There's injuries on every team through the course of a season but hopefully there's no major injuries and everyone can have a healthy season. If that's the case I like our chances."
Jeter said there was no secret formula to winning it all.
"You've got to be hot at the right time, bottom line. That's why there's been so many different champions throughout the years. "The best teams make it, and the hottest team wins. "To get through 162 games you have to be a pretty good team to get to the playoffs. But at that point, any team if they get hot can win."

Interview with Yankees GM Aki: Road to 27
http://media.bigoo.ws/content/60/286260/Yankees.jpg
Preston: Tonight were joined by Yankees GM Aki, thanks for joining us tonight
GM Aki: Thank you for having me.
Preston: okay, so first things first, very busy off-season! Tell me what made you sign 3 of the 4 best free agents out there?
GM Aki: Well, the Yankees organization underachieved in 2008. We finished in 3rd place, and did not make the playoffs. We also lost 20 game winner Mike Mussina to retirement, and pitching was a weakness last season, so we are excited now that we have a potent pitching staff. And Teixeira is a special player. Not many players can hit the way he hits, and also plays defense as amazing as he does. This year we are determined to win a championship, and to bring it home to New York.
Preston: Have you talked to Teixeira? How do you think he will handle the New York Media?
GM Aki: Yes, I just recently talked to him, and he is a great person, and he is ecstatic that he plays for the Yankees. I also think Mark will handle the media great. He is a humble guy that loves New York, and is determined to jump on the bus with our roster, and begin our road to 27.
Preston: Well although its hard to find one, where do you think the Yankees biggest hole is?
GM Aki: Right now our Center Field position is up for the taking. Brett Gardner and Melky Cabrera are battling for the position. Brett looks like the leader so far because of his speed and range, but Melky is a fan favorite, so it is a hard decision. All though, we have sent an offer to the Twins, discussing CF Carlos Gomez, and we offered P Ian Kennedy, CF Melky Cabrera, and a player to be named later. Also, our backup infield depth is not as good as we'd like.
Preston: Have the Twins responded to that deal yet? Do you feel that your close to a deal?
GM Aki: Right now, we are at a stalemate. The Twins know we have interest in Gomez, and he reportedly would like to bat higher in the lineup as he currently bats 9th for the twins. He has played in New York, and his speed, glove, and flat out potential, make him something we cant resist. Also, the Twins are looking to bolster the pitching, and picking up a young starting pitcher, that was dominant in 2007 is something that the Twins expressed interest in.
Preston: So are there any other players your looking at, or is it just Gomez?
GM Aki: Gomez is our 1st option. He provides youth in the outfield, speed, and a great glove, which is something we need. We also like Jim Edmonds, but he is more of a fallback option. And, as stated before, we will try to bolster our backup Middle infield depth.
Preston: Okay, A-rod. Your thoughts on that situation?
GM Aki: A-Rod is a phenomenal athlete, and the Yankees organization are disappointed that he did not use his common sense. He had all the tools in the world to be great, and that still wasn't enough. But on the other side, if there is an edge you can get that wont hurt you, you do it. Should he have done it no, could I understand why, yes. Also, almost every single athlete is on steroids, but I astonished that only A-rod gets called out.
Preston: Okay last question, how is the chemistry in the clubhouse right now, and do you think that the attitude in there is all towards number 27?
GM Aki: I think the chemistry is great, all the players are getting along and doing great, in a matter of fact after practice I took all of the spring training invitees out paintballing, and they had a blast. I see potential in Robinson Cano, and I mean hall of fame potential, he is an up tempo guy, that loves to have fun. This year looks like it can be our best chance to win our 27th ring, I think if I have all the players on the bus with me, the road to 27 will be sweeter, and greater.
Preston: Well thank you for this time on this interview. We hope to hear from you soon.
GM Aki: Me too, its been a pleasure to be on the show.

In the 6th, with 2 outs A fly ball was hit to Swish, and he completely missed it, thus allowing Scott to come bat and nail a 3 Run Homer. Joba pitched pretty well tonight, although he was always in a jam. The Yankees will continue their road trip as they start off 1-2.

The Yankees have called up top prospects Phil Hughes and Jesus Montero. Reportedly Hughes will come out of the pen for the Bombers, and be an emergency starter. Also, Montero, organizations top hitting prospect will be called to the majors to backup and possibly split time with the vet Posada, as he is batting less than .100 so far.
''We are very happy to have made these moves, Montero and Hughes give us much needed youth on our ball club, and both have huge upside.''
Also in other news, the Yankees have contacted Free Agent 2B Ray Durham on a possible 1 Year 1.3 Million Dollar offer, and Durham has agreed in princible to join the Yanks.

Pepsi Performer Of The Game: Evan Longoria
Game Recap
The Yankees lose a HEARTBRAKER because of the bat of Evan Longoria. This game went 15innings, and was 4-4 for 7 innings. Joba pitched a strong 6 1/3 with 0 ER and 2 runs allowed. In the 9th, the Yankees rally with the bat of Hideki Masui, as he blasted a huge homer. Also, Carlos Gomez hits a single, steals 2nd, tags from 2nd to 3rd, and Jeter comes up and drives him in to home. The Yankees are then up 4-3 in the 10th, and Mariono is ready for his 2nd inning of work. Not so fast, as who else but Longoria hits a homer to tie it up. The Yankees had to use everyone in their pen today, and it could cost them. The game stayed 4-4 till the 15th inning, when Longoria came up against Phil Hughes, and on the 1st pitch, he drove it out of the park. The Yanks lose, and they declined to speak about the game.

Pepsi Performer Of The Game: Alex Rodriguez
Game Recap
The Yankees win a very very close game. Once again the bat of Alex Rodriguez saves the day, as his huge shot in the 8th gives the Yankees a win. Wang struggled at times with his sinker, and in the 5th, back to back homers, tied it up at 4. The Yankees needed Hughes to step up today, as he was one of only 2 relievers ready to go today. Coach Joe Girardi was pleased that he didnt have to use Mo again, who has pitched a ton early this Year. The Yankees also talked to Captain Derek Jeter, who batted 9th today.
Joe Girardi on Jeter batting 9th:
''Derek was struggling, batting .50 so far, and he was all for the move. He will be back at 2nd when he comes back to earth. He's a captain and he knows whats best for the team''

For you, yes. Because the Yankees are a high stakes team and are likely to have some sorf of a roster change. For me, I have the nats, a mediocre team, im confident their roster won't change so I'm preceeding into the season. As far as the patch goes, I don't think you have to restart for it to be applied.

Sadly they took out this feature in the 2k9 version of franchise, in 2k8 you could have. However you could try to ask your pitching coach to teach him a new pitch, if its successful you can take out pitches for instance. If they kept this feature in, I think you do this by email or it comes randomly.
