Take your best guess.

How long will this game last (fun, competitive leagues being played)?

it will last until a new 2k football game comes out.

in august when madden 10 comes out and we ALL see how it plays and how it doesnt replicate the real nfl (again) then we come flocking back to apf along with everyone else who hates madden.

this is the "dead time" for online football gaming. it always is. the only people left for apf/madden are the hardcores. everyone else has moved on.

this friday = killzone 2.
next week = mlb the show 09
but i will STILL play at least one game of apf whenever i fire up the ps3.

Yeah, it'll pick back up in the beginning of football season around training camps, but I feel like APF is on it's last legs. More and more people are not playing the game anymore adn even those who are still playing are finding more and more reasons to not want to (bugs, "money" plays & routes, etc).

The next Madden installment will cut into the player pool, just like last year. Some will come back, but not all. Just like last year.

As for this game. The community of premium gamers is ever dwindling. I think its far fetched to think it makes it to Madden. I think we have 3-6 months left.

i hope youre NOT speaking of this site when you say "premium gamers" and "dwindling"

this forum is a joke to the rest of the online comminuty as theres too many cheesers & lobby scum in here that fellow gamers on this site refuse to weed out and classify as the cheesers.

Realistically this game was never really alive to begin with.
Born in a coffin.

A half assed low budget pathetic ad campaign using rappers instead of in game players and gameplay , overpriced with no features and unlicensed as well = doomed sales = no more 2Kfootball

If you like gameplay over NFL logos then you will be forced to play this game until someone else does better and it will never be Madden that is simply impossible , EA bought that license so they could force feed Maddenites their zero effort rehashed dog **** and that is all you are ever gonna see outta them.

I'm just glad the community is what it is right now. Over at operationsports there's a whole other batch of guys that post there. I'd bet this game's community is deeper than better selling games.

As long as it's not madden, people will play this game. Hell, i didn't think this many people would still be here. 2k5 took a very long time to die down, longer than i thought it would anyway.

Depends how many people keep finding this to complain about.

Personally, there are a bunch of players that I have never used for an extended period of time..so I think there is plenty of juice left in the game.

IF you could play against your own teams AND have them controlled by a VIP(you can only assign VIP profiles to control the 'stock teams) this game would have another year...But without that(and the abilty to assign VIP to control CPU teams in season mode) it is probably another 3-6 months.....

Still better than Madden, but the depth factor is too low here.....

I still can't get over how much better this game looks than Madden09(for the most part)

For one, the size of the characters is outstanding...Even on a big screen Madden players look too small

Not true.

1. Get two controllers, and select both teams to start the game.
2. Pause the game and remove one of the players.
3. Continue playing against your team.

Not ideal, but it works.

Unfortunately, from my experience, while you can select a VIP, the defensive play calling for the VIP is utterly broken.

I have tried that it did not work..You can tell if it is working or not because the opponents plays show up on-screen(which is one of my 3 or 4 things I don't do when playing against VIP...yeah, the VIP system is good in AP2k8, but not as good as NBA2k8 was...I also think that the VIP system may have taken a step backwards in NBA2k9, but that may be because I have some coach mode and player lock games in my VIP...perhaps this screws with it)

Either way, they need to allow CPU to be controlled by a VIP in season modes in Football, baseball, and basketball...This feature was available in NBA2k6 so I am not getting this at all...VIP is so utterly underexploited by 2k..They have this exclusive feature and they underperform with it for some reason

I have tried that it did not work. When you mean it doesn't work, you mean it's not using the VIP properly right? You can get the computer to control the other team though, achieving the ability to play against your own teams. It just seems to ignore the VIP for some reason from a play calling perspective. It does move around like the other player though, which is kind of interesting. If they like to take their LB and circle them around, it will do it. Yet, at the same time, it calls plays they they never would.

If anyone knows a fix for the VIP problem, please share.
