He is the Best CB I ever played with in this game. He is a straight up Ball Hawk and he has the best Bump in the game. Plus He has BIG HIT AND RUN COVERAGE FOR A CB BABY!

What I've been saying! Yes he does everything well. You can't throw at him. You can't run at him. You're best off just avoiding that half of the field for the most of the game.

I disagree..........

Yes he is good, but not the best overall cb.

Lem Barney is the best cb period.......

To me the problem with Lane is speed, put someone like Drew Pearson or Jefferson on him and he's getting burned......

Bump coverage is the dumbest defense in the game, arrows, fades, or just running the ball destroys it. Also the hardest defense is the one that keeps you guessing, if your playing man I know my Te will more than likely ALWAYS be open..............

I'll agree that Barney is the best CB (game play wise) in this game.
Nite Train seemed to be hit or miss as the starting CB. However when I have Barney as the starting CB & Lane on the other side. Nite Train becomes a playmaker. From what I've seen. Barney shuts down the opponents #1 WR & when the QB goes to his #2 guy. Lane swoops in to wreck the day. Nite Train almost always seems to get a pick with Lem on the starting side.

W. Brown has been my CB just about from the day the game came out. I've got Lem on the other side and to be honest I just don't think he's as good. Brown tends to get more int's and jumps routes better for me.

Night Train lane stops the annoying screen pass better than any CB in the game. Even if blocked he seems to shed the blocker and just attack the carrier. If you have Nightrain and Barney on the same team make Barney Strong side CB and move Night Train to Weak side.

Night Train Lane is only "bad" if you insist on playing him in soft cover 3 or 4 all game...which some people seem to want folks to do.

I've always been a big fan of 'Train.

He and Mel Renfro are my 2 favorite CBs.

This is completely wrong. If you bump those speed guys they are effectively removed from the game. It's like you don't even have them.

Arrows can be mitigated with LB zones/safeties jumping it. Night Train will kill the fade himself. It's not that tough to double the TE either.

Night Train is the best, most complete. Ask the thread starter!

I too like Mel Renfro over Barney. He just comes up with big INT's for someone who only has quick feet and kick return. Plus he is bald. I think I may make an "All bald team" next.

Renfro is more consistent in my experience. He's on the ball most the time and doesn't jump routes and get torched as much. Barney is lightning in a bottle defined. He makes some of the most obscenely athletic plays possible in this game, yet can get torched for 50 on an 8 yard hitch because he's so aggressive.

If you look at 'Fro's bio it would make sense that he would play well.

His career was every bit as good as Barney's, and I consider the 2 1 and 1a.

I think his quick feet really helps him stay at home vs. outs, and slant routes. I dont see him doing a lot of weird change of direction stuff.

I think Brown is by far the better corner overall. Only thing that Lane seems to do better than Brown from my experience is that he seems to have the speed to keep up with Jerry Rice. Willie is a bit slower than him. Other than that I have yet to see Lane do anything that would make me take him over Willie. I play man 1% of the time so maybe that's why.

You think so? Let me know next time you are online so I can make you a believer..........

With a record of 100-10 Ps3 and 75-5 on Xbox I'm more than sure I can show you........

Just played Espn Nfl 2k5 on Xbox 360 who is probably the worst cheeser I have ever played, he tried to bump me with Barney and Willy Brown all game, 21-6 with me about to score again before he pulled the plug..........

Otto Graham at Qb Jefferson on one side Pearson on the other, lets go

Let's not forget the argument now. This is evaluating Night Train, not your ability to pass with high tier legends everywhere. He can take out 1 WR very well. If a guy on the other side of the field gets torched it isn't his fault now is it? Also, your example with ESPN didn't even include Night Train. It seems as though you are replacing your facts with a challenge to see who wins a game. If I lost it wouldn't prove anything. If I won that wouldn't prove anything.

Let's argue with facts and good observations.

Well my point was this, that you seem that Lane can take out Jefferson and Peason and make them a non factor.

While yes you are correct that Espn 2k5 was not using lane BUT Brown who has the same bump ability that's why I somehow felt it was/is relevant.

No doubt Lane is good and yes he can and will make the wrs routes hard to run, but ultimately I cannot think of any game I have ever played that I have or cannot make an adjustment.

Lane is a great at blowing up the screens and tackling, but imo I cannot say he is worth the gold, as that position to me is better used else where.

No disrespect and it's just my view on things. Lane is great as the second Cb and he can make great plays, but to me I feel with my playing skills I can beat him with a deep route runner.

I hear that. One thing I should mention is I play almost all my games under legend which may be helping him a lot. I know most DB's, regardless of tier are torched fairly consistently on All-Pro. So we might be seeing two different things.

I kind of saw bump master as a counter to deep threat receivers. I could be wrong, but I remember a game where I had Night Train manned up on Jerry Rice and he pancaked Rice on more than one occasion. He also had an awesome play where he was in man bump. I was in a cover 2 bump I believe. At the snap Lane pancakes Rice, then flies back to another receiver running an out route which was lobbed to the outside and he ballhawks it for an interception. It was very impressive to me and kind of sold me on him being a complete impact player. I've seen him stop the run and lay some BIG hits too.

To each their own.
