View Full Version : Fake Snap

In the past few games I've played, I have been accused of cheesing by two different people for fake snapping, and causing the d-line to jump. I've never heard of this being cheesy before.
Is it considered cheese to fake the snap?

i think its only cheese if its excessive. and different people have different guidelines for sim and cheese so you never really know

Yeah It is overpowered in this game. Don't do it or it would be a instant negative feedback.

its in the nfl and its in apf2k8. do it.
you'll get false starts if you do it excessively without cadence.

I wouldn't do it but I wouldn't give you negetive if you did once. If your doing everyplay then I would probably be peeved. Signal Stealer same thing. Once in awhile to shake things up but every play get's annoying.

Ok.
In the NFL there is away to keep your players on sides no matter the cadence.
apf2k8 does not have this option which was a poor game design choice by them.
If you are going to put in something you need to have something to counter it.
I won't post the numerous large post I've done before because only EA is listening and that isn't my goal.
For every action there is a reaction. Keep that in mind when putting in stuff like this and the game will fly.
Don't and you end up with a long list of cheese complaints. This one is very much valid.

Oh... and the false starts are extremely rare. I know how they could make that more realistic too, but again, I'm not trying to help EA who appears to be reading this board.

I actually think that cadance is the counter to blitzing, and line stunts. In theory it should slow the pass rush down. The problem is it too effective, especially with Elway, so yeah it's cheap to use.

Definitely cheesy. If I could adjust a setting that allowed me to change the agressiveness of my players, to make sure they stay back, then it'd be fine. But there isn't. There's no counter for it, so it's cheesy.

It is really cheesy in this game because you can take a non cadence QB playing vs. the CPU and get like 15 offsides calls a game if you do it all the time all game long, I have sat there and drawn the D off 3 times in a row and the worst thing is it is almost always on the star DL.
It is insanely overpowered and messed up should have been fixed and everyone knows its cheese.
Just abuse the CPU with it all game for one game and you will see why it is so bad.

Yeah, but you have to work hard to make it happen.
With your QB under center just do the cadence real fast over and over an over until it happens.
I found this out while researching the cadence issue when it was first realized.
Even with the above instructions it is still hard to get it to happen.

This guy was doing it to me with B. Starr. Funny thing is that it worked against me 3 times, after that his line kept getting called for it.

How do you 100% guarantee no offsides in the NFL? The Panthers seem to jump all the time in their home[open air] stadium......
I agree it would get annoying if done all the time. I don't do it because online games are already about an hour long and penalties just make it even longer.

No 100% guarantee in my statement.
In the NFL you can prevent it. I'm sure you have seen it where that 4th and 1 and the offense is merely trying to draw the defense offsides. The DC instructs its players on this and if they jump offsides it isn't from cadence.
I explained this in a long post about improvements for 2k9. Didnt' happen.
I saw some suggestions in EAs new game, so I stopped posting them.
So I'm sorry, I won't give that answer, but you could do something, but again for every action there needs to be a reaction. This is the problem with most game designs. They don't take that into account. They toss in a feature and forget about the full implications.
I don't use it because it is too easy to successfully do.
It doesn't take into account a history of cadences to force a jump. Most jumps are based off patterns.
This is not. I've said too much already on this. lol
I played a guy who used it big time. It was annoying. I finished the game because that is what I believe in.
I person can't talk about someone else dropping games, but wants everyone to accept their justification for doing the same. So... I finished and found a way to win. Overall it was a good game. I didn't give him a negative rating. This was the person I sent a nice game note too, but let him know other people would rate him in a negative manner if it mattered to him. He kinda came off on me to a degree, but when I responded to his response he understood I was just passing along information. There is a lot of that going around where a difference in opinion is taken to the extreme. Really sad.
It just would have been nice for them to have put out a fix.
I really don't understand their style of leaving their supporting group of gamers in the dark.

Signal Stealer same thing.
I have no problem with someone using the signal stealer every play. It rarely works and if it does, there is a counter for it - audible to a different play. There is no counter to the fake snap which imo, makes it swiss and cheddar.

Exactly!
