why is it that every one of such n such caps has route god combined with speed burner and then has the nerve to rename the player to a real name in the game!? From now on...if i see that you renamed a stock player in trying to deceive other players in the game....your getting a negative regardless. Atleast if your going to make a cap of your own with real names then ATLEAST get try and make him as realistic as possible, feel me? But lately it's been me seeing like 3 wr/1 te sets (all caps) with speed burner and route god...wtf?

Agreed. I played a CAP Dwight Clark, Yancy Thigpen, and OJ Simpson from one team.

Let me take it you lost?
The best thing to do when you face an opponent like that is to give him everything underneath and take away the deep ball.
If he has all his stars on offense control the clock when you have the ball.
Really works

of its offense cap....go to defensive matchup and look for the players pic
caps ALWAYS HAVE NO PIC.
then watch the intro & coin toss for more pics/faces
if you quit before the game starts your record doesnt become affected and you can leave feedback

I'll take a gold CAP WR over a branching tackle gold CAP RB freakazoid anyday. WHere all they do is pitch left or right.

I just don't play CAPs in general. Some people do them right. But too often they are abused and it is stupid.
They should have never allowed you to take CAPs online . . .

The problem is too many people just do not make sim CAP players they make whatever they want rediculous CAP's .
I just will not play vs. CAP's at all because of the extreme cheese factor , league play is a different story I imagine but there is no way in hell i'm playing someone in lobby using CAP's.
Stealth CAP's are obviously the worst because they are blatantly trying to trick people into playing vs. their cheesy 6 6" CAPs
I always check out a players teams before I accept a challenge and if they are loaded up on cheesy players and teams I just avoid.

Lot of crybabies on here........
If a person is sim or cheese, it's not because of his players, it's how he plays the game.
Sure you can face a 5 ability Hb that you feel is unfair, but compare him to Earl, Oj, Barry, etc.....
That same user can run Earl all day , or run counters with OJ every other play , or even screens to Barry......
Point is a players team is not what makes someone sim or cheese, it's how they actually play the game. Sure if you see 6'6" wrs than you should'nt play them, etc.
The thing is in online gaming this is just the way things are.
I also agree that had it not been for caps I would not be playing this game, I generally make bronze caps as this game is lacking many bronze positions, it does'nt mean I'm cheese it's just I need more options.

Wow. I wonder how anybody who complains this much about CAPs ever played any of the NFL2k's.
The team builds in APF are EXTREMELY similar in strength to each other. You are required to have 2G, 3S, and 6B. In the actual NFL you may have teams that are loaded with talent vs. teams with relatively little talent. Cowboys vs Lions....
Part of the fun in this game is the ability to create the strongest team possible w/ the very limited amount of customization options. CAPs are generally less powerful than legends. Making CAPs 6'6" makes them slow, so the height is not always a plus.
DON is actually right, if you really can't have fun playing a team because you believe they have a stronger team build then check their lineup before the coin toss and quit.

This is all very true. I get tired of seeing the same story over and over - different ways of tricking you into playing a team built to do nothing but lob the deep ball all game. Renamed CAPs, cap WR's that are the max heigh with route god and speed burner, Gold HB CAPs with Finesse and Power, Branching Tackles, BaB, Strength, and Speed Burst. You see it again and again and again. Then get called lame or rated down for refusing to play against it. Or you play against it and get called lame for operating out of 3-2 the whole game. (my own personal touch).
I can't overstate what was said earlier. Pound the rock on them. Keep that offense on the sidelines and wear out their defense. I'm getting better by the day at this. Played a guy with 2 gold WR's, and I put up a 7:30+ opening drive on him. He got one possession and didn't have enough time to put up points against me in the first half. Cheese? Maybe - but not nearly so much as teams built to bomb it all day. At least I'm running plays - when I give you 17 chances on defense to stop me and you fail to do it, sucks to be you. That's how many plays I had in that opening drive. 17. He even had me inside the red zone on a third and long, but he comes in WAAAY late and hits my halfback on the ground. I mean it wasn't even close. First and goal. Begin hammering the start button because I accepted it.
I think we've hit this game from about every angle, and I keep coming back to the same point, and that's of intent and integrity. You'll figure out pretty fast playing someone whether they're in it to play a game of football, or if they're in it to win and only win - whether they have a clue of how to play football becomes irrelevant.
That second class of guys suck the joy right out of playing the game, and there's nil you can do about it. I took a long time ago to simply quitting out of those games and moving on, thus my wonderful feedback rating. Of course that means I'm avoided like the plague and presumed to be some kind of cheeser - nevermind that my record doesn't reflect it. So yeah, nothing new to see here.

Doesn't seem like cheese to me if you put up a 7 minute drive. To me that takes more skill than lobbing it to an abused CAP WR.

A 7 minute drive is pretty lame if you are intentionally burning the entire play clock every single play just so you can avoid playing defense.
I don't think it has ever taken me over an entire quarter to score even on my longest ball control drives.

I don't play people who use CAPS. The same reason people don't play below a certain percentage.
The problem is again 2ksports did not fully think it through. This is too obvious. I don't need a create a player. I enjoyed the franchise of 2k5 better than creating players. That too of course had its problems because it was easy to get over on the system.
But until someone makes sure the results of a CAP doesn't create "The Unstoppable" they need to leave it out the game.
Just like the cadence, and other issue never fully thought through.

CAPs are the only reason I'm still playing this game. Get in leagues and CAPs are usually legit and if you check out True Balanced league everyone can only spend so much on building their CAP team.
Thank 2k for CAPs and 5 ability CAPs or else this game would be DEAD.

Well all I play with is caps, playing with legends got old quick. I'm either playing a league game or practicing with my league team. You guys could eliminate most of the chhese if you do what I did, just play custom games. Who cares about record and rank anymore? ( I don't, I know many cheap players do) I came to this conclusion a few months ago when I finally decieded to play a lobby game, and from play 1 my opponent did the hot corner cheese, and bump man bringing safteys up to the LOS every play. I had to go back to my cheese bustin plays. I went back to the custom lobby and games were much better, I could actually play a real game. I don't no about you guys, but I have every play in my playbook, and I'm still expirementing with new stuff. Custom games allow me to do this because the number next to your name doesnt change if you win or lose.

i will play whoever and they can use any cap they want. I usually use a MLB cap though. Its noton all my team, but sometimes i use a gold MLB cap.
Caps dont bother me usually. Soemtimes, when you play ol Zues and he does his goof bomb where he will catch it most of the time, but once i figured how how to counter it, its not bad. Same with everything in this game.

I'm not running down the clock. It's just that I refuse to bail on my running attack, and vs this guy it was reasonably easy to do it. I'm pretty sure his defensive line was set to pass rush, and linebackers to coverage. The only thing saving him was that he managed to crowd an inside gap and tackle my QB before he got out from under center a few times. Mix in a few penalties that kept the clock rolling, and the fact that I had zero incomplete passes and no plays that went out of bounds - it's not as hard as you think. I ran 17 plays on the drive, so I definitely wasn't milking the clock.
I've had a ball-control game where my opponent only had the ball for a little over 2 minutes before. It's been a LONG time, like well over a year, but I've done it.

Let me put it a little differently, if someone wasted and milked almost the entire first half of a game on one drive I would never play them again.

So stop him so he cant do that. If you cant stop someone, then its not his fault that you cant stop him. I have games where guys will be tough to beat, but i have had games where i can stuff any running back. Its all up to the player to stop someone. If you cant, then that person isnt really that good.
For me, when someone does that, i love it. IT gives me more chances to figure out how to stop what they are doing. Once i have done that, then the whole game changes in my favor.

So we're only supposed to play one style? Sounds like a lobby game to me. If I created a team that isn't meant to score quickly, why should I play to my team's weakness?

^^^Precisely.
I'm the only guy I have seen thus far that has a gold Fullback that is created to be a blocking back. Sure, he can run guys over if he gets the ball, but - well...
Lorenzo Neal: Strength Bonus, Stamina Bonus, Bulldozer
That's a blocking back. :) So - I have him, Okoye in the backfield behind him, Eric Green (Bulldozer) at Tight End, and I mix up my offensive line, but I always have at least one there - I think I have Wisnewski (Leadership) in at Guard right now, with Harbaugh at Quarterback. My team is built to run the ball first. Meanwhile I hit team after team that is built with a high-flying offense, and either a pass-rushing defense, or almost no defense at all. The gameplan is pretty obvious there, and what I'm getting is that despite the gameplan being obvious, I shouldn't do it. Humbug. This isn't an "arcade" football game, it's supposed to be a football simulation. Want to stop me from running the ball? Do it. Can't do it? Better come up with a good alternative, because coming out and scoring quickly might not be your best choice, and even if it is, my defense is known for (at least making a valiant attempt at) taking away the deep ball - in other words, my defense isn't dissimilar from everyone else's. ;)

I've played many players like that online. I played an idiot who cheated by having 3 unstoppable players, Jerome Bettis, who had no name on his jersey but resembled him. he was big and huge and I was screwed from the start, because I had no answer for the run.
This same player also had 2 WR with no names that was simply a headache. People online CHEAT like crazy and make players that cannot be stopped at times.

I agree with overthemiddle on this one. He's not saying he can't stop you. He's saying watching a clock tick is BORING and that is the reason he wouldn't play you again. I would do the same. It all comes down to having fun for myself and my opponent. I would never do that (run the clock) to an opponent because I want him/her to have an enjoyable game. I think it makes Numbski feel powerful..that's why he does it. :) Egoism at it's finest.

This is why I say what i'm saying , it's going to be OBVIOUS that you are too afraid to play defense so you are intentionally milking the entire first half.
17 plays what is it 3 yards a crack all the way down the field when you likely started from probably the 35 or 40 yd line ? BORING and more BORING
Thats fine play your 3 yard a crack clock milking offense if that is your stratagy to avoid having to ever play defense but don't expect people to be excited to play you again, you might get your boring well stratagized clock milking win but your not likely getting another game from that person.

Yeah and if you can get them in 3rd and 6 or more, then they'll likely go 3 and out with that offense. But still, wouldn't you find it boring if every game was a shootout? That's pretty boring to me. The thing I like about this game is I can win 14-10 one day then go out and lose 48-31 the next even with the same team. I'm glad I don't play with people like you because if the game was ever a 14-10 defensive slugfest I suppose you'd give me negative feedback because I wasn't playing your style.
Is it cheating when real NFL teams slow down the game against teams with superior offenses? Should they cry foul? Is it fun to just roll over because your team has a better offense, or is it better to put up a fight? Like I said before, ball control offenses don't always work. And that 3rd and long on the first drive can really be a killer, but I'm sure you wouldn't care if that happened. You would only care if it worked.
