Ok, so I was looking at NFL's Top 10 on NFL Network and topic was the top linebacker core of all time, and the #1 spot went to the New Orleans Saint "Dome Patrol". Now the first I seen this episode I didn't know who these guys were, at the time I never heard of them not one, well now I do and after watching Ex-NFL greats like Mike Singletary (who of course is in the game) talk about how good these LB's were for the saints, I started thinking why aren't these guys or at least one of them is in the game? These four make atleast a great 4 or 5 star sliver player and I thought it would be really fun to play with all four of these guys on one team to see how they stack up, and this is how I did it.
Ok, first create all four players on an old school Saints team, and make sure the playbook you have has the 3-4 and 4-4 (no brainer) so they can all be on the field at once most of the time. Now when I created the players I made Rickey Jackson and Pat Swilling both Gold, and Vaughn Johnson and Sam Mills Silver (add whatever abilities you want after looking at the video). Now here's the twist don't add any DE's, CB's, FS, or SS's to the defensive side of the ball, put Archie Manning as your all time New Orleans starting QB, and add any kicker and Ray Guy, and sir you have yourself the the Saints of the late 80's to early 90's, because in the video the Ex-NFL who were interview stated that the Saints of that time would have been a super bowl type team if they had an offense, I can tell you first hand they're right. Last night I tested this style of a team and I can say it feels like a good defense, bad offense kind of team. I lost to the Washington Federals 38-29 last night, but cool factor was those four shut Earl Campbell down to 30 carries for 108 and one 1 TD, and we all know how overpowered Earl Campbell is. So all I say is try it out I think the team created like this comes very close to the real thing, so if you try out this style let me know what you think and how you did and get back to me.
