View Full Version : Bashing VC

I honestly don't understand why so many people are bashing Visual Concepts. VC said weeks ago that this game would only be a marginal improvement, if any improvement at all, over 2k8. Now, I really have no say, as I don't have the actual game yet. I've only played the demo. I must say, however, that I found 2k9's demo much more playable than 2k8. I am not juding 2k9, and I will be picking it up tomorrow with my hard-earned $60 haha. I'll find some way to enjoy it. If I deem the game unplayable, I'll trade it in for something else. That's how it goes.
I am disappointed to hear about many of the features that were removed from the game this year. My favorite thing to do in a baseball game is create myself and my friends. It really adds to the experience if you ask me. However, it's not a deal breaker for me. It's just the way the system works.
Anyway, I'll give VC a chance. I think they could really turn this game around.
Of course..don't forget 2k's motto..."There's always next year".

I'll reserve judgement until i've played it but 2k are running out of chances with the gaming public. 2k8 was poor and MLB FOM was a shambles as well and Prizefighter is another recent game that bombed.
You dont get too many chances when people are stumping up $40/60 on a game.

Agreed. For the past few years I have not liked what 2k is doing. So far, I like what VC is doing though. I'll have to play the game a lot though before I can say I like or hate it.

i'm not bashing VC!! I LOVE VC! but this is my gripe.....how can you already have the excuse of " we did not have enough time" yet turn around and charge ppl FULL RETAIL PRICE AS IF THEY DID??? after last year you would figure that as company they would protect there name better, but once agian they stumble over there own feet and are going to open themselves up too ppl going nutz on them. this game is perfect if it was 19.99 or even 29.99.....but 60 bucks?? HELL NO!! now what i can say is that yes the new foundation has been laid...so next years title should be great. but this year....this game is avg at best and that is being nice.

People are bashing them because they had a whole damn year to make a great baseball game...and from what i hear they failed, big time!! If your going to buy the exclusive rights to the mlb franchise, make a great friggin game!! Or let somebody else try!!

I agree. they did not have a full year...so with that being said. why are they charging ppl full retail price for this title after last year and now this year? this game is a rebuilding title this year, so they way you repay all your fans is making them pay full retail for a rebuilding game?

They're charging full price because they still have to finance their employees' 6 figure salaries. Maybe when the developers get back from vacation they can begin working on patch #2.

We heard that before with 2k6, then with the Ben Brinkman experience and now this. When are people going to learn that 2kSports cannot put out a decent baseball game. It has been proven year in and year out but some of you people are still stuck with your heads in the sand.
They actually said that?
No they did not say that. That would have been suicide. Instead of saying it they delivered it.

Hahah. I remember it in one of the Q&A's they did. I can't remember where I read it. VC was saying they had to pretty much start developing from scratch (as we already know) so we (the consumers) shouldn't expect much of an improvement or any groundbreaking features.
I absolutely agree with illadelph; charging $60 for a rebuilt game with less features is ridiculous. However, I will donate to the cause, and (hopefully) we will have an even better baseball SIM next year (that sentence was contrived from everything I've read on this forum). I've got a few games to trade in anyway, so I'll probably only be paying $25-$30 for 2k9.

Why couldn't they just release the game on April 3rd and then they would have had another month to work out problems.

next year or year three they will get it down! And if not, it will be moved to another developer and they can have another 3 year shot at it. Either way, I am paying $60 every year to help support them in trying, regardless of if its good or not or if they deliver on any promises. As consumers, we have zero right to complain or expect things to be better....so just deal!
As far as the "bashing" thats going on in the "complaints" thread...well, seems like 2k or VC may just have to deal a bit with that. When you hold the exclusive license to a popular sport like baseball and are not only unable to deliver a quality product but one thats gotten possibly worse (or different sets of issues that didnt exist in the previous) each year, you are bound to get some negative feedback.
One last little issue on the word "complaining". To me, complaining is whining and crying about something that cant be changed (like the weather). Expressing your thoughts, feelings, disappointments and feedbacks regarding a product that you pay for and WANT to see better, and CAN be better, is constructive and every company/product worth anything would be gald to hear it all...as hard as it is to hear...to better themselves the following year. Just a thought.

people are probably complaining because its not a well made game. I bought it at midnight played it for 5 hrs, went back to wal mart at 7am and returned it for a closed copy I can hopefully exchange at another wal mart for a different game. It really was not an enjoyable experience at all. its a mess.

I am 100% with you. but worse part is that they make the gameplay worse than what it was before

Did any one of you even give the game a try/chance? It may not be a feature rich game but plays a good, fun game of baseball.

Its no fun with clunky overly complicated controls for fielding, baserunning and pitching AND hitting...ya know the things that a baseball game revolves around. 2K7 was much better.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the pitching and hitting, fielding you gotta get used to I guess?
Its all about personal preference though I suppose but theres nothing wrong with learning something different.

I would love to learn to use the controls for pitching...oh wait the instructions hardly explain jack except what button to push...not even a tutorial or an explanation of the timing needed or anything. At least in 2K7 I could get the ball to go where I wanted it, now its a crapshoot...

What's so complicated about pushing a direction on the right stick throwing it towards that base when fielding? That's not complicated.
Hitting isn't complicated either. Push back on the right stick, then push forward when the ball crosses the plate.
Pitching isn't difficult either. And with them taking out the release timing by default, it's a bit easier than last year. There are practice modes to try out to get a better grasp of the controls. There are some screens that come up for each practice mode to explain things a bit.
But, you did say that you only spent 5 hours with the game before returning it, so I doubt that you really gave it much of a try. The controls in this game aren't that difficult to grasp.

Maybe if I gave it more of a chance i woudl have eventually got the controls, however I ALSO did not like the presentation, the size of the players on the field during gameplay and so forth. The game isnt awful, but its not worth buying when upgrades to most things are comparable or non existent compared to the Old copy of 2K7 I have, all the same animations of the players approaching the plate, running in from the out field, warming up. Its the same game with a sloppy facelift. If I had NO baseball game, i would have kept it.

1. You obviously didn't give the controls a chance. And if you did, you're obviously a ****ing moron who doesn't have the brain capacity to figure out how to utilize the controls. It's not difficult.
2. The presentation is top-notch. Everyone is saying it. You're a show fanboy. Why bother coming to the 2K sports forums? Seriously, I understand some of you have no lives, but to come to the 2K sports forum just to bash a game you obviously don't have the brain power to play is downright pathetic.
3. The size of the players? Talk about nitpicking. Go shoot yourself now and do us all a favor.
4. This entire forum is overrun by asstards such as yourself and the mods don't have the nuts to ban you sorry fools. So I'll call you all out. The game is far from perfect, but with some simple slider adjustments, it's a great game. And they already said they're issuing a patch to fix the aggressive CPU. Personally I'm averaging striking out the CPU looking twice per game and I have the retail version. Only issue I have is that the CPU doesn't take strikes right down the middle regardless of count (3-0 should be taking). Other than that, you're all just a bunch of show fanboy ***.

It wasnt supposed to go backwards. Why even release the game if it's not going to be an improvement. Oh that's right because they can make money on an inferior product.

the game is actually improved a lot. the only thing I want fixed is the editing of pitching types, let u edit stances and all that stuff so it can be freedom for the user.. never ever take away freedom from the user

It seems most of you are forgetting that this game is smack in the middle of a rebuilding stage. There aren't going to be any revolutionary features in a rebuilt game. As with what we have this year. I'm cool with that, because I know (hope) that next years game will be a drastic improvement. All we can really do is hope that 2k and VC get down to business over the next 12 months or so.

Who said there's no CAP? You can create a player. In fact, you get an achievement for it.
