Again, just like with NBA2k, it looks like MLB2k9 has Xbox 360 Wireless control issues.

Now I have to go out and buy an Xbox 360 wired controller to play this game.

How could this go not fixed in NBA2k and now MLB?

Please patch!

We made it known that our game doesn't support wireless controllers in the original PC specs. I am sorry.

Thanks for the reply.

I did not know that the technology between a wired 360 and a wireless 360 was such a big leap...

This is unfortunate. You guys have a PC Baseball monopoly.
I just don't understand why you could not get this to work..

Games that are 15+ years old work fine with my 360 wireless...

Ron I've supported you on every issue so far but someone needs to step up to the plate and explain why something so simple was not integrated into the game code. If my Logitech Wireless pad isn't supported then I'm not buying it as I have no need to invest in another wired pad.

Exactly. 2K lost my sale too.

I had planned to stop by Gamestop today and make this purchase. Too bad. No purchase for me.

This is a BRUTAL oversight. Most gamers use wireless...

My 360 controller only works with my PC when I plug it in via USB. I have tried to make it work several times, and it just doesnt as a general wireless controller.

Are you guys honestly morons or just pretend to be in order to make 2k look bad?

NBA 2k9 works fine with my WIRELESS 360 controller. Its just a matter of going into a game from the beginning and exiting or going into controller options and quickly over writing settings.

I honestly dont get whats so brutally hard about that.

Wish I was tech savy to make my 360 controller work without plugging it in..LOL! I figured Windows/Xbox go hand in hand as MS products...I guessed wrong! LOL!

PIN,

There have been early reports that MLB2k9 has issues with wireless and getting the changes to stay.

I wonder if this would work for MLB 2k9?

You have to get the XBOX 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver to use with wireless XBOX 360 accessories.

Are you using a wireless 360 controller to play the PC version of MLB 2K9 ? If you're not, you have no reason to talk like that right now.

You need a USB wireless dongle to allow it to work with it. It wont work as is.

The left and right triggers are the issue as all the other buttons work correctly once you remap them but it is still very flakey as I thought I had it fixed and then I ran into the same problem again and again.

Its the exact same **** for NBA 2k9, there for it should work with minor tweaks. You just cant expect it to work when you shut down and load the game back up without doing the process over again.

Yeah I have heard about work-arounds. If you guys come up with an official one, please let me know.

yes....please let me know too

My Xbox 360 died a while back....I saved my wireless controllers. When I found out this game was coming out on PC I was thrilled (because I won't miss out on MLB2k9 because I no longer have an xbox360...and don't want to spend the money on one). So I bought an Xbox 360 wireless controller USB receiver just to play this game. Please tell me there is a way to make it work.

Again, two posts down, there is the workaround for the shoulder buttons for NBA.

http://www.operationsports.com/J.R.%20Locke/blog/

Someone try this now and see if it works for MLB..

THEN GO INTO THE CONFIG FILE (if there is one) AND MAKE IT READ ONLY so you dont have to do it everytime you play a new game. You never know.

Please, I want to pick this game up today...

Turn on your controller, start the game, press start on the controller to advance the opening screen. If its anything like NBA 2k9 you should be able to hit left and right on the dpad to select a side on the team selection.

Hit start and let the game start up. Exit the game and you should have functionality back to the controller.

Also, for all of you saying that you need a USB wireless receiver, yes, please assume we have that already! We are talking about button mapping.

Ron, something simple like button mapping should be patchable no?

That sounds like it might work.

I have the game in my car and will test it tonight but I anticipate it being the same "issue" as NBA2K9, which really wasn't that big of a deal. You had to go into the controller config menu and change a button or two and then it was fine.

I'd appreciate if someone who has both NBA2K9 and has already tested in MLB2K9 could confirm if it's the same thing or if the problem is worse in MLB. Because if it's the same thing, it's really not a big deal. At all.

To get the wireless XBOX 360 controller to function properly start the game and do not turn the controller on until you get to the "Play Ball" screen. You will then have a 100% working controller.

EDIT: In order to get your main profile to load and be attached to the controller the easiest method is to actually start the game with the wireless XBOX 360 controller on and then wait until the game loads to the "Play Ball" menu(the team selection screen) and then turn the controller off(take the battery pack out) and turn the controller back on and you will have a 100% working controller. If you do not do this then your original profile will be attached to the keyboard as an input device.

Ron, are there any plans to make cycling through your minor league teams, bringing up player cards, and toggling between teams in trade mode mappable to gamepads? Having to use the keyboard for these actions is just flat out annoying. It seems like a basic button mapping fix. I posted about this in the patch wishlist thread as well, just looking for conformation this is known, and whether or not we can expect it fixed by patch or wait till next year... It really cripples the franchise mode, which is gonna be great once the free agent situation is worked out.

If there is a way to map said franchise functions to your gamepad and I just overlooked it, please explain how... Btw, the same problem exists in NBA2k9 with the player cards and the player roles/morale screen.

After reading this thread I realize why my wireless xbox controller's triggers don't work properly, and why I have to reload the controller maps when starting the game.
