The rosters are horrible, I just went to start a franchise with the Rays and I notice that Mike DeFelice and Scott Dohmann, are you kidding me these guys are not in the Rays system at all, they are retired. Besides that there are a bunch of players missing, like Chad Orvella who is not retired. Come on 2K, I'm a real stickler about accurate rosters, we pay $60 for this game the least you can do is get the rosters right.

LIVING rosters were updated, just a few stats, no real roster updates yet. rookies cannnot even be in the game until they play one game, it is too early.

Updates are reflecting the big FA signings and blockbuster trades happening in preseason mostly. They even tweaked some ratings, but thsts all. Some folks just get all up in arms over something that turns out to be nothing with some patience.

Under your suggestion it is ok to play this game with it having half of 2008's roster and half of 2009's roster in a game thats sold as "Having the little details in it" but not the up to date rosters at launch is retarded.

Dude, stop trying to defend this. I have been on the fence for this game and took the last 2 days to research these forums and reviews. And thanks to the cover up job being attempted around here(mainly by you and that Durant guy) I'm pretty sure 2k will not be getting my dough.

No sports game has every shipped with 100% accurate rosters. Most games have a roster cut off date that is usually a couple months before release. MLB's cut off date is typically in January. So, anything that happens between then and release won't be reflected in the game until a new roster is downloaded.

Do you know how difficult it is to monitor every post made in every thread on these forums? Especially right after the release of a game, when the traffic is heaviest? Even with as many mods as we got all policing the MLB 2K9 section, it's still tough to see everything. You guys far outnumber us.

It won't happen. There wasn't a roster update for 2K7 last year after 2K8 came out, and there won't be one this year.

They still weren't. Trust me on that. The cut off dates may have been a little later than they are now, but they still weren't 100% accurate when they shipped.

They SELDOM were ever as up to date as one would want though. There was usually a cut off of about 30-45 days before release that the roster would be locked in. Anyhow, as I stated though, lets give these guys a break until the first or second week of the season when most rookies are added and all the rosters are looked over and updated as well. If its not close to right then, by all means, have at it. :)

This statement has nothing to do with the three players the poster listed.

Chad Orvella - 69 games in 3 years with the Rays.
Mike Difelice - Manager in the Mets organization.
Scott Dohmann - Signed a contract to play in Japan in December.

I understand waiting until rosters are finalized out of Spring Training, but at least get a guy in there who has 3 years experience and take out guys that are no longer in the league.

Now that makes sense. But they probably won't do it. After reading all the complaints about 2K9, guess i'll have to update the rosters in 2K8 since I enjoy that game. At least with 2K8 there isn't limitations to editing like is being reported in 2K9. Thats got to **** alot of people off.

yes you do. You have to have an internet connection (broadband) and plug it in to your router. You can use the free service (XBOX Silver, which I have) to download it but you won't be able to play online games with it.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I connected everything and got the silver membership and put in the MLB 2K9 disc and it was immediately updated. Since I live in LA and have been a long time dodger fan it is nice to have all the roster updates especially Manny on the Dodgers. Gosh I remember buying games and having to wait until the next season to buy the new game to have current rosters. So nice to have current rosters.

It is great to see Manny back on the Dodgers. I went to a couple of games last season and the electricity at Chavez Ravine was like nothing I have seen in that ballpark in years. Amazing Atmosphere when Manny came to the plate. Very fun to be there. Now they just could use a couple of pitchers.

I'm a HUGE White Sox fan & I really hope that someone can do a PC roster update throughout the season so I can see these guys. I love the PC version of the game and I've done as much as I can, myself, to keep the rosters updated, but the devs would do a much better job than me at placing all the guys in the right spot and adding the rookies when they get to play a game in the pros!
