After going through the rosters, i have noticed that absolutely NO effort has been given to get the minor league rosters anywhere near correct. Many of the players in the minors with teams are still on teams from 2 years ago, and many arent even there. The removal of the "player finder" feature has made it nearly impossible to locate the players without the real names, and even the correctly named ones would need to be tediously searched for. The only transactions that appear to have been done since 07 practically are the big name ones. But for those of us who like to play realistic franchises and such, we would like accurate rosters. I helped make the Madden 09 rosters accurate this year (for those of you who played madden, did you notice the presence of more players who were on rosters in the final update, and less of the players who didnt play last year in the FA pool as in previous years?), so i have a bit of experience in helping perfect the rosters. I would be willing to work with the 2k staff or whomever and submit a list of changes that need to be made. Thats what is needed at 2k, apparently. This game is basically last years game, not even a roster update. If you are going to make a baseball game, at least make some effort to get all of the rosters correct. You might as well not include the minor leagues if you arent going to make those teams right. There are many high profile prospects missing also. This is completely unacceptable.

Madden rosters weren't that great this year. They were pretty good, but still were missing some players that were on the rosters the entire season and for some reason never made it on the game.

Plus they aren't allowed to put real minor leaguers in the game, so it would be kind of hard to find them named correctly lol. The major league rosters should be accurate when the season starts.

Jerze must have some amazing insider knowledge to which prospect is going to be assigned to which minor league team coming out of Spring Training. I imagine the minors should start looking pretty good once teams start making actual decisions and the minors aren't clogged with non-roster invitees. I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around how he can recognize that "Many of the players in the minors with teams are still on teams from 2 years ago", but missing the whole thing with how nobody can use prospects until they actually have major league experience. Is he just recognizing the same fake name (which may or may not be assigned to the same pseudo-prospect from last year)?

Exactly I have noticed some fake named players that appear to be on different teams this year but really aren't. Last year a lot of Red Sox prospects got to play in MLB so now they have their real names and I have noticed some of the fake names from last year on the Red Sox are on other teams.

In response to the first reply, the reaon that there were a couple of players missing is because they couldnt get approval to include them. There was also a limit of how many players could be included. But they were able to get the rosters 95% accurate, which was an improvement on previous years. Because they LISTENED to the feedback.

As for the 2nd reply, my point is, for example, matt camp. Has been with the cubs since last season, but isnt on the roster. John Rodriguez, in camp with the yankees, still on TB's minor league roster. And as for when the season starts, they have never made all of the monir transactions that take place, and they didnt get them right before the game came out. Look at the rosters...they are VERY similar to last years. They only made the high-profile moves. They CLEARLY didnt use the MLB rosters from the official sites as a guideline, which is how i did the madden rosters. Weekly compared the in game rosters to the roster from each team site, compiled a list of who to add/remove, and sent it to the roster guy, who made the changes. As for the fake names, its not hard to figure out who should be who. And where is Brandon allen, Gordon Beckham, and Vicedio on the white sox? 2 of the top prospects arent in, even under fake names. Even after the season starts, for the past 2 years, its a stretch to even make an accurate Major league and AAA team for each team. they cant get 50% correctness. Thats unacceptable.

My major gripe is that for a lot of the top prospects that they do have in the game, their skin colour is WAY off. I know this sounds petty, but I really don't want to play a franchise with say, the Mariners, if Carlos Truinfel is completely white and Phillipe Aumont is black. Why are some prospects pretty spot on and others are not? For example, Kyle Blanks in the Padres organization looks perfect. Why can't there be consistency? I don't want to play as half the teams because their top prospects are not accurately represented.

what makes me mad about the mariners prospects is that the teams minor league player of the year aint even got a alias in the game. im talking about greg halman who almost went 30-30 for high A

Uh, they did. Did you download a roster? It's pretty clear they used the 40-man rosters. It wouldn't surprise me if the minors are off, but for the most part you're guessing since the majority are fake. Matt Camp (random an example as that is) has no major league experience so obviously he's not on the Cubs. As for John Rodriguez, he hasn't played in the majors since 2006 and isn't on a 40-man roster so you're probably looking at a fake player named John Rodriguez in the TB system that was probably just a coincidence (or I have an older update because I can't even find him on mine).

Mike Pelfrey On the Mets has one of the most dominating sinkers in baseball. Why is it not on the game? Please fix this for multiplayer.

The John rodriguez example, is a fake name with the initials J R, same height, weight, age, #, ec...CLEARLY intended to be him. He was on TBs minor league teams last year, and just got left there. Thats my point. They dont make the transactions, they just leave them where they originally were added. Everybody is on this board talking about pitches and stances, but they dont care about people being in the right place? seems everybody only cares about having all the big time players accurate. But we criticize me for wanting the whole thing to be accurate? and i just think they could at least make the 3 minor league teams they include as accurate as possible, with the fake names even. At least they would be generally who they should be then. If they have no ML experience, stick them in the minoprs with the fake name and the initials same thing.

we are working on a roster overhaul by editing until the limit and then creating players to get at least the top 10 prospects of each team right

check it out at operation sports thread: Found a way to get around roster limit

www.operationsports.com/forums/2k-sports-major-league-baseball-rosters/

the more help we get the faster it goes

I think everyone keeps forgetting the rules instituted by the MLBPA (Major League Baseball Players Association, A.K.A. The Players Union)regarding player likenesses in video games. Any publisher is not allowed to use the likeness of a player who is not part of the MLBPA and has signed on to the collective bargaining agreement. Minor league players, for the most part, are not members of the MLBPA. Once a minor league player makes his MLB debut, he is becomes part of the MLBPA and at that time, his name and likeness may be used by game publishers.

It is also not uncommon to see a player who has played on a MLB team and then moved to a Minor League team and has not reappeared at the MLB level for more than a complete season to forfeit their MLBPA membership. This is exactly why you never see Barry Bonds in a game, since he was never in the MLBPA. It is also why there will never be accurate Minor League rosters. You can blame this on the union, not on 2K or V.C.

But they add them with the fake names anyway, not the likeness. I just think itd be easy to do that for the minor leagues. Just put them in there with the fake names, and youre not using the likeness or anything, but we still know wo's who, and can fix the name ourselves.

Yeah..the rosters are off..I noticed that Felipe Marrero who is the fake name for Mets top prospect Fernando Martinez..is just sitting in free agency for some reason. Also a top Tigers prospect is in there too Randy Parsons (Real name = Rick Porcello) and a Orioles former 1st round pick appears nowhere to be found Brad Sharp (Real name = Brandon Snyder)

Exactly, i'm not going to mention many things until the the opening day rosters come out.
