The San Francisco Chronical

Today the San Fransisco Giants have announced there new GM Matt Martinez. He was officially names GM and had many things to talk about at his press conference. When asked what he will do with this lineup to make a strong push for the playoffs he had this to say. "We lack a little in that area but we have some great pitchers and obviously I will do my job and put the best team available for my coaches to play each and every day". He expressed his excitement to be in such a historic franchise and hopes to be there for a long time. The giants have high hopes for their team and hopefully by the end of the year so will the fans.

The ESPN Zone game recap

http://espnzone.com/assets/images/logo_espn.png

This game was a close down to the wire affair that saw Tim Lincecum and Jeff Suppan at their best's. Lincecum threw 8IP, 0ER, 12SO, 2H. Tim went toe to toe with Suppan who went 8IP, 10H, 1ER, 6SO. The Great show these two put up for the Giants fans was destroyed when Brian Wilson came in to the 9th to shut the door and gave up 3 runs to bring it to the bottom of 9th were SF got runners on 1st and 2nd but couldnt capitalize. Next game is Johnson vs. Gallarado which should be a good matchup

The Tone for this game was set early and that was a pitchers dual of sorts as Randy Johson game up 4 runs but got out of it with the least amount of damage. With the bases loaded twice johnson got out of those jams only giving up 1 run. One mistake pitch to bill hall put up 2 runs on the board. Johson left the game early with a back injury and is expected to miss one start. There has been no decision who will make the spot start that day.

Espn Zone game recap
http://espnzone.com/assets/images/logo_espn.png
The Giants came into the game looking to stop a sweep of the series for the brewers. Once again the pitching was good but the bats just never came. The brewers worked some magical things on the mound having the brewers get 11 hits and only 1 run to show for it as it seemed almost every inning there was a runner on first and second with no one out but the brewers still got away without giving up a run. Matt Cain pitched a good ball game and with no one out he left with the bases loaded as they brought in the lefty Hinshaw to face Feilder. He got him out they brought in the right to face hardy and he gets out. Howery gives up a base it then an error scores a run on the booted ball in the OF. The giants scored 1 in the 8th but couldnt hit hoffman in the 9th and lose another heart breaker.

Nick Swisher (OF/1B)

It has also been reported that the yankees are set to pay swisher 5 mill this season and the Giants are too pay 2 million of that 5. All players have passed their physicals and Swisher is set to have his press conference today in San Diego were he will join his new team mates at petco park. It is said that swisher is a game time decision weather he will play or not in the first game of the Padres series.

ESPN Zone game recap

A great first win for the giants today at petco park. Barry Zito pitched good ball turning it over to the bullpen down 2-1. The Giants tie in 8th and n the 9th go ahead and take the lead 3-2. I good comeback victory for this giants team to get first win of the season. Barry Zito went 7IP, 2ER, 8SO. Wilson gets his first save after blowing game 2 to Brewers and newly gotten Nick Swisher dives in the game winning RBI with a long sack fly in the 9th inning.

Post game interviews

Coach- Today it was a nice win but not the way I would of liked. We stranded runners on base too often and thats a problem. We could of had 5 or 6 runs but we let it slip away, good teams dont let that happen. Im happy with our pitching right now but our hitting needs to step up and step up NOW!

Swisher- "how was your first game as a Giant, what was the feeling like" Well I felt great coming out here with a win in our hands and I was able to get a pinch hit go ahead RBI to win us the game so im very happy. We have a great group of guys and we have potential we need to improve on the little things first.

MOLINA OUT OF SAN FRANSISCO?

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp196/GameBattles-Torqe93/DM_081210_bbtn_long.jpg?t=1239476034

Around the rumor mill today here on baseball tonight's "Hot Stove" Bengie Molina's days in San Francisco are limited as many sources have told us they are going to start young hot prospect Aron Penn at catcher the rest of the season. This has not been confirmed with the team yet but a inside source says they have discussed this with molina and he has agreed that if this is their decision he would like out of San Fransico. Joining us on the On star* hotline is our one and only peter gammons. Now peter what exactly is going on in the front office of the Giants. "Well I have spoken to GM Matt Martinez a few minutes ago and he has confirmed that they have chosen to start Aron Penn and devolpe him at the highest level". So peter what does this mean for Bengie Molina and where is he is traded do you think he might go. "Well I did ask him that and he said that teams have called and asked about him and right now there is no definant answer". Peter what does this mean for the rest of the older players on the team. "Well Martinez has informed me that Eugenio Velez the young 2nd basemen will be moved to left feild in order to get Burriss another your prospect in at 2nd base. That of course mean Randy winn is also with out a position because the young Nate Schierholtz will be full time starter in RF". Wow thank you peter and hope to see you soon.

Thats all for your Hot Stove update we will keep you all informed on any further information we have on the situation

Lincecum start pushed back

Tim Lincecum was scheduled to start against the padres today but will not start due to a little discomfort in shoulder said Giants officials this morning. They also said he will start tomorrow against the LA dodgers. Buster only of ESPN talked today on Mike and Mike in the morning about this and had this to say. "I belive they dont want to waste a start of Tim's on the padres and want him to face the dodgers. Also this is because Randy Johnson is to miss his next start which was suppose to be tomorrow against LA but now his replacment Tim Abercrombi a prospect from AAA will start at San Diego tonight.

Both game 1 and 2 were very good games as both winning pitchers threw gems of a games. Lincecum is on his way to maybe another cy young if he keeps it up. The Giants are having trouble staying above .500 and thats because of their hitting. This team needs some help in some way if they are to make the playoffs. (Aron Penn scores in 12th to take the lead with 2 outs)

The rookie Aron Penn was so highly regarded that he replaced Bengie Molina at catcher and it seems like its paying off. Penn is batting .500 with 2 RBI in his time as a starter and he isnt slowing down. Today he got the eventual game winning run scored with a clutch 2 out double which he scored by the next hitter renteria with a blooper. Penn is progressing and will only get better.

ESPN Zone game recap
http://espnzone.com/assets/images/logo_espn.png
Todays rubber game of the heat rivalry was sure worth the maney these fans payed to get to the ball park as they were trated to a 12 inning afair that ended in dramatic fashion. Although there home team didnt win it was a great ball game. The dodgers struck for 1 run in the first as starter Barry Zito was all over the place. As Zito settled down the Dodgers starter James McDonald was throwing great until the 6th inning were Emmanuel Burriss got a double followed by Aaron Rowands RBI base hit. After that the pitchers duel continued another 5 innings into the 12 until the clutch performer gets a 2 out double to get into scoring position. He is driven in by Edgar Renteria

This game came down to the wire as once again the Giants starter pitched a gem. There was simply no offense to go with the excellent pitching. The game was 1-0 in the 8th when an error by Aaron Rowand to get a runner to third with 2 outs. Then a throwing error by Edgar Renteria scored the runner and got a man on. Today the giants agree to a 1 year 4.4mill dollar deal with closer Eric Gagne to sure up a very shaky bullpen. Today the giants had a press conference introducing their new arm out of the bullpen, here is what new GM Martinez said today. "We feel Gagne gives us the best shot at finishing games at the end. We have been struggling to finish games in the late innings and since spring we have been looking for a reason to do this and now we have one". The Giants send lefty Mark baker down to AAA grizzlies in this move. GM Martinez had this to say also. "We are trying to put a winning team on the field and dont be shocked of other moves are made to try to help the cause".

This game was another great pitched game by the Giants and it comes with yet another horrific offensive effort. Only scrapping up 4 hits all day. Tim Lincecum pitched a hell of a game throwing 8 innings for 5 hits and allowing 1 run. Turing the game over to howry in the 9th to give the giants a chance to win and he gives up 2 runs only getting 1 out. The giants are looking for offense anywhere they can find it a this point. With molina on the block there should be some takers very soon.

Giants and Mariners agree to a big time trade

http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/images/players/action/ph_434605.jpg
This Mariners and Giants have agreed to a trade that will sent Bengie Molina and Nate Scheroltz to Seattle for Wladimir Balentien. This trade will give the Giants the much needed pop in their lineup and will let rookie catcher Buster Posey play full time at catcher. Today in a media inteview today to announce the trade GM Martinez said this. "We needed to do this, we wanted Penn to be the future and Bengie is twards the end of his career and was just looking to play. Bengie has been a great player for the giants and always will be a original giant but we needed to make a buisness decision. Balentine is going to help us win now and hes young it was really a win win situation".

ESPN Zone game recap

Today was a great game for he Giants as they fought back at the end to tie the game and force extra frames. The top of the lineup today were great run starters as the #1 hitter Eugenio Velez went 4-5 with 2run scored. The big story was Nick swisher driving in all 3 rbi including the game tieing rbi and game winning rbi. After the game swisher said this. "It was great to just win today, no matter what I did on the feild we got the win and thats all that mattered. It was nice to be the hero though. I am new to the city so it was good to be able to get the big hit, but I couldnt do it without those men on basebase and my teamates putting me in thst position".

A great win today for the Giants winning their second game in a row scoring 5 in a row in the 8th to take the lead 5-1 and they would never give it back. The giants matt cain threw 7IP of 1ER ball. The giants needed this win bad to get to 6-7. The hitters seem to be hitter alot better and the hope is it will stay that way

A great game and a great end to the series for San Fransisco as they complete the 2 game sweep. This was Pablo Sandoval's game as he smacked for RBI of the 5 for the giants. SP Barry Zito said this on his teammate. "He is a great guy and we all love him. He was the key for us to win and i think anytime he is on the field he gives us a chance to win ball games. We have pitched well all year so far and I didnt plan on making it any different today. We feel good winning our last 3 games and we wanna just get out and play Arizona and show them wat we got".

And my trade is so unrealistic, and this isnt.

When would Seattle do this when they have 2 catchers already? And Balentine is a young OF with great potential...

let me break it down for you since you decided not to read previous posts.

Jojima = hurt for about 70% of the season.
Molina= 1year deal to keep their offense going while jojima is gone
Clemente= ok catcher but is not nearly as good as molina and would only play when molina is tiered......

Belintine= Young outfilder but they have alot of depth in the OF. (they also get my #2 OF prospect)

All that equals EVEN since Molina only has a 1 year contract.

hmmmmmm now that makes sense due to injury....yours= No injuries and u trade wang (which the yankees will never do...in his prime) and prospects for Peavy (weve probably seen the best of him) this would never EEEEEEEEEEVER happen in real life even if their were injuries

So shut up fool because i looked at every detail of my trade before i did it unlike yours

 Ok, I can't THROW A SINKER!!! with Wang, how can I win with that?

Yankees had very big discussions with Wang + Hughes for Santana last year, so bye bye 9 yr old slant.

Clement is better than decent, and ha a chance to start instead of Jojima and would do fine starting... So when Jojima comes back, what do they do with 3 catchers?

lol so i suppose we should compare Peavy to santana lmao ok bro....also were did u hear wang plus Hughes because never once did that convosation happen maybe in the twins fans dreams.....right i know Clemente is so good with his 65 contact and 68 power lol....just because you made an unrealistic move and i called u out on it dosent mean that you need to try to prove that i made one.....the facts is the Jojima is gone for like 70% of the season and then molina and jojima can platune and Clemente can go to AAA along with the other scrubs......so you can stop blowing up my thread because im done arguing with you....why dont you go trade sabathia for johan santana or something you retard

OK
1. Clement has a way better future then Molina and will be a way better catcher then when Molina waz even in his prime.

2. Jojima is there stopbag catcher for there #3 top ranked prospect Catcher Adam Moore...last thing they needed was another stop bag catcher

3. Nate is ok but its the Mariners man..they need pitching...Matt Cain or Jonathan Sanchez would have been more realistic

4. The Mariners got nothing in return, no prospects, and a big hole in the outfield...It would have been more realistic to get like Endy Chavez or one of them guyz just to fill in

There are my points and Opinions...no wait not opinions they are just my straight up facts that u need to know

I agree 100% Meekay but you gotta remember he isnt getting molina at a 3yr deal he is getting him 1 season just to keep there lineup afloat this season so they dont get destroyed. He adds needed power to them and lets them try to win now.the mariners have Griffy JR, Ichiro, Endy Chavez, and frankin Gutierez....I fail to see were there is a whole in there outfeild. Balentine was on their trading block and he was their most expendable outfeilder. With Jojima out that was there needed position for this season and their out feild was where the depth is at so I dont see where it comes out bad for seattle?

Ok, Griffey will end up DH'ing alot, Gutierez? He's not that good. Endy Chavez? Solid man off the bench. Ichiro, ok. Balintine,Ichiro, and Chavez/Guti would be fine with them, they don't want a 3rd catcher/ fat old piece of turd catcher, when they have 2 young studs already.

Molina is the slowest player in the league.
He is 35 Years Old.
His best Days are far behind him.

Balintine
They Only Have 3 Outfielders on the Roster without Balentien
Balentien is their future in the Out Field, as he is their youngest.
They will have to cut 1 of Molina/Clement/Jojima when Kenji comes back.

Clement>>Molina

P.S. The Mariners also have a top rated catcher in the farm.

The 19 year old Madison Bumgarner has been called up from AAA and will be placed in the Giants bullpen. This moves comes after Tim Alderson was traded to seattle. The Giants are excited to see what the young 19 year old stud can do out of the bullpen this season. The giants have been going with the young players this season and it seems like they have been settling in as of late. Lets wait and see how this young man does around these great pitchers.

Another great win for the Giants ion Arizona. This game was another well pitched game as Tim Lincecum threw 5 shutout innings and turned it over to the 19 year old Phenom Madison Bumgarner. Madison thre 3.2 shut out innings with 3K's and 0ER. This kid has great stuff and the believe is that he will slip into the 8th inning role. He is a great backup starter in the case that a pitcher gets hurt. The giants will look for the sweep with Randy Johnson on the hill in game 3.

Randy Johnson out for season

http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp196/GameBattles-Torqe93/rj_risberg.jpg?t=1239742781
(Randy Johnson out indefinitely with broken ankle)

After leaving the series finally of the D-backs Giants series early due to a injury Randy Johnson went to doctors and was found to have a broken ankle. This injury will end the season of his 1 year contract and most likely his career. GM Matt Martinez said this today. "We are saddened with Johnsons season and possibly career ending injury. We have talked to randy and have let him know that we are going to keep him on our team but if he is to return for the playoffs he will not be a starter and will pitch out of the bullpen if his foot is healed". The Rookie phenom Madison Bumgarner will be put into the rotation in place of Randy.

This end of the month streak has brought them to first place in their division and has given them great confidence going into next month. The Giants star outfielder W. Balentien got hurt pretty bad in the final game of the series and the Giants are awaiting official word on his injury. Lets hope it wasnt serious

N.L. West standings

2. Arizona Diamondbacks 12-9
3. LA Dodgers 10-12
4.San Diego Padres 9-13

Balentien set to be out for 73 days and

(Balentien on 60 day DL, out 73 days)

Today it was announced Balentien will be out 73 days. This comes at a bad time when the Giants were at their best winning 9 in a row and their lineup was hitting on all cylinders. The giants are going to be looking at all options and might dip into the free agent market to get a player like Jim Edmons.

THE RUMOR MILL
Today the big rumor in the baseball world is the Giants and Oakland A's that would include Jack cust going to San Fran and Matt Cain to Oakland. A deal is rumored to be in the works as we speak. Another rumor is related to the trade as there is a rumor the Giants are trying to acquire Dontrelle Willis the former stud gone bad might move to San Fran in a attempt to get his career on track. We will keep you updated throught the day on these trades as they seem that they could be done with in hours after each other.

Willis is a Giant, Wilson to Detriot

http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2007/baseball/mlb/12/04/cabrera.willis/p1.willis.si.jpg
(Willis gets traded to San Fran after being demoted to AAA)

The San Fransisco Giants have announced a trade that will send 27 year old Dontrelle Willis to San Fran for 27 year old Closer Brian Wilson. This trade was made because the Giants feel they have a great plan in place to have willis be the ACE he was suppose to be. With Johnson out for he season and their 19 year old phenom Bumgarner not ready to start this was their easiest option and is a High Risk, but if it works will have the biggest reward you can think of. Lets just hope this trade works for dontrelle and the Giants.

Willy Mo Pena signs with the Giants

http://blog.masslive.com/redsoxmonster/2008/03/medium_wilymonowwhat.jpg
(Willy Mo goes to San Fran after injury to Wladimir)

After the injury to Balentien the Giants went out and signed power hitting Willy Mo Pena to a 1 year 417K deal. The Giants are sure this is a good move to give them their 4th outfielder while Balentien is out. Hopefully he can produce against lefties and when he gets spot starts. The Giants think this will help them keep their hot streak alive while Baletien is hurt.

Hey man die-heart Giant fan here and I just saw this and was really impressed..

What I do want to say is that no way do the Giants trade any of there top 5 prospects for Balentien.. I am not a Mariner follower and I won't pretend to be one, but this is Balentien's 3rd year in the league and the guy hasn't been doing squat.. Now I know they say they wouldn't want Molina and how they have younger guys, but right now Seattle is in a win now mode.. Molina not only brings a clutch bat but also brings another leader to the team who has done wonders with the Giants pitching staff.. To be honest with how pathetic the Giants offense is I don't know why you wouldn't start him.. I mean we just drafted Posey this year so if anything you have done is unrealistic it would be bringing him up so soon... At best he'd get called up in late september if we are out of the running, but him starting the way you made him is very unrealistic..

Also I guess these guys can't read that Molina only has 1 year left and could really be a great mentor for any young catcher the Mariners have...

Also I read the argument about the Peavy, Wang trade and am gonna have to disagree with you Slant... Peavy might not be what he was a couple years ago, but there is no yankee fan right now that wouldn't trade Wang for Peavy.. Could you imagine a rotation of C.C., Peavy, Andy, AJ, and Joba!!! That would be sick.... And to be honest the only reason the padres would do it is because PEavy has been very vocal about wanting out of SD....

So yeah man keep it up, I wish I would have done this as I really feel I know the in's and out's of the Giants.. But if anything you can always ask me if you need any help..

Also for those of you who said he should have atleast added Frandsen or Velez, you guys obviously don't know crap about the Giants.. Those guys suck and should never be what makes or breaks a deal...

Also Bumgardner being up this early is pretty crazy.. The guy dominates in triple A but he could still use a lot of work down there.. Bringing him up now is pretty risky as he is only 19 and probably hasn't dealt with much failure, which most likely will happen in the Bigs..

I agree with everything u said though, I'm also a Giants fan. No way Molina would ride the bench, he's the heart and soul of the lineup.

Haha I know it's just a game, but these guys where arguing something they honestly didn't know much about haha..

And yeah man Molina and Sandoval have been money all year for the Giants.. I mean of course if the right trade was offered i'd do it in a heartbeat as Sandoval has been a great catcher when Molina has had to rest.. It's also good that the Giants have some pretty good young talent in Conor Gilliespie who can be the future 3rd basemen for the Giants.

Haha yeah but whats even more funny is that although Molina is as also as a turtle, Sandoval on the other hand is pretty damn fast for a man his size.. I swear if he where born in the U.S. he'd be a fullback or Linebacker haha.. The kid is good though and very very athletic for his size.

Haha yeah must have been tough for all the players last year. I bet Prince and CC where the only guys left in the shower after the rest had left haha. But man can you believe that even though Prince has been "watching" what he's eating it actually seems like he keeps getting bigger..
