^The confidence rating is kinda ill, but 2k will find a way to mess it up, I know Odom confidence rating better be zero. the confidence rating should really be used in association mode, like in close out games in the playoffs confidence should kick in for certain players, but it could effect you in a bad way if you come out jacking up shots. Good idea

With the importance of having great post play in the playoffs becoming more and more evident (Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Tim Duncan, Yao Ming, Dirk Nowitski) NBA 2K10 should have a complete control post game. Players should be able to control every move of the player and be able to link moves in succession instead of sending the players into an animation that depends entirely on their low post ratings. While holding the L1 button, the left analog stick should be used to move the player in a circle on his pivot foot. (Pressing it away from the basket would create a face-up situation) The right analog stick can be used for moving the ball away from the defender, ball fakes, etc. and using the R1 button (turbo/aggressive) should activate the dribble, changing the left analog stick movements into drop step, turnaround, step-over, and step-back moves. The square button will be used for shooting while in post mode. Releasing the R1 button would cause the player to pick up his dribble, and revert back to pivot mode.

-smoother shot animations

-limit steal for wen a player goes up for a dunk it happens way too often (which does not occur in real life)and cost user the games at times

- more fouls calls wen people try to reach from behind

-smoother cuts around screens

- feet planting system for switch direction and for men who try to cheat of ball n recover all the time

-better Commentators whom break down the game more so that people whom do not play the sports can learn how to become more successfull (kinda like madden).

- more emotion from players and coaches sumtimes a team feed of one players energy for ex: Kg,birdman and etc..

- coachs and crowd must be tuned to like their counter parts such as phil jackson being a laid back coach and mike brown being an expressive coach all these things effect how a team should react in a situation...

-technical fouls should be add into the game because it is a part of the game even if it not to be influenced, they allready have hard fouls in the game why not add the technical it will make the user be aware how they should play the game

-team introductions and signature before game rituals for ex: king james and KG with the powder

- Warm up suits

-add fictional tv newtork called 2ktv so that we can be update in are association on games that had occured the previous day b4 and league standing... keys to win the second half wen ur down or up ...

-better attributes which resemble actual players counter parts... meaning lebron,melo,kobe,wade should never be stop on HOF by a player whom is not even capable of stayin front of him (yes maybe once in a while) but not a whole game on HOF

-double team should effect a mans chance of making shot n,e where on the floor
inside scoring is Yao ming is dominant but he can not shoot hook shots at high percent at 15 feet out

- CPU hits every open shot which is unrealistic cause at times they shoot with players whom do not hit shots what so ever they should not influence players such a ben wallace to attempt a dribble or take shot (take it out and make it reasonable )

-fix dribbling system for C's and PF's they should not be able to cross a point guard that way it will make the com or user affraid to put the ball on the ground and take a risk

-customizable shoes and edit players assocories by add facemask,hair and etc... if they feel like fool around with game

Overall 2k9 was a good game but people still had doubt about live being better ... i say its about time 2k10 puts the kids to bed refering to (NBA LIVE) year after they question the 2k series. 2k fans that EA has dethrowned 2k... i say it about time we retain the glory which (NBA LIVE) has attempted steal from year after year and put 2K and simulation BBALL on the map

In baseball games they used to have a feature where you can argue with the umpire... I'm not sure if they still have it but it was neat... you keep pressing triangle to fill the bar and if you did it to a certain limit your team would gain some momentum... but if you overdid it and got ejected your team's momentum would go down.

Its really really early right now to be having information about the actual game itself. Us as fans, want everything right now. ITs just way to early. We will get the cover athelete, maybe a gameplay snippet? I dont know and then a few interviews with the cover athlete just like in all games.

I am sure we will get all the information when its time. This is 2K's 10th edition to basketball i believe. So it's gotta be a good one. Hopefully we can get some kind of special edition or something going on here.

I think anyone from Howard, Lebron, Kobe, Rose, Williams, Roy can make it. 2K always likes to do things a bit different, so it may be a youngster like we got a few years ago with Paul. Then again, last year they went with the vet that is Garnett. Maybe again this year? who knows. hehe

Yea man....first off 2k9 online gameplay wasnt 2 great, unless ur in a good league, what they need 2 do is bring lobbys back, THATS A MUST, (y the hell did they take out lobbys in the 1st place, thats y plying ranked games is almost pointless), and the next thing yall REALLY need 2 fix is these long hail mary passes being throw soooo perfectly all the time, which creates 2 many easy dunks n layups. every1 just turns the game into a fast pace, long passing, dunk contest. Thats y ranked gms feel more lik a 2 minute drill in football than a basketball game, with nuthin but long passes 4 easy scores. Which is y playing ranked games is pointless, this makes it way 2 easy to score dunks and layups. Let the people who actully have skill get the advantage, instead of those who can throw the best deep pass(which is every1). N trust me, i no how 2 stop all these chessy players, but regardless, this jus makes the game not fun and very unrealstic. I understand that people like 2 play at a fast pace, but all im sugesting is 2 not make it so easy to do this. Also, defense needs some improvements in 2k10, and a few more gameplay features, but other than that the game is pretty good.....but theres always room 4 improvement.

haha, that puzzle thing was not done properly. I didnt like it then and i dont like it now. I am straight up with you guys. We will get info. I talk to ron about things, and before Ron got to 2K, we got absolutly NOTHING from them. He's trying to change the way they put out information, but its not going to happen over time.

The ea thing with the dev's out there is a good thing, and its a bad thing. I have seen developers over at OS sports lose it and say stuff they shouldnt. The animation dude for Madden blew a gasket over there and i think they todl him to stop posting for a while. Not all developers are people friendly and know how to communicate with the player base on a forum. Some people, just dont have people skills. That doesnt mean they cant do their job making a game though. Its just not for everyone.

2K9 is a good game, not great but not bad, simply good. Offline it's actually a great game. Most of us want a sim game, but there are a few who want humans to play the way the CPU plays which ain't happening.

I always say how it's June and most of us STILL play NBA 2K9, so either it's an okay game, or we're just crazy. The last game I can remember playing 8 months after it has been out is Madden 2006.

But 2K9 WAS marketed horribly but the game still sold well and was rated well. I think 2K knows they make the better games, so they tend to get lazy and they probably feel they can sell as many copies regardless of how much they promote since 2K sports as of now is known as a great company for sports games.

I mean you still have people creaming themselves over NFL 2K5.

But like I said most of us STILL play the game 8 months later even though we often bash it, so if 2K10 is great who knows how long us 2K crackheads will play

I think 2K needs to standup. The 1st standup move would be allowing for GM's to turn-off 2K Cam and other cheese friendly exploits in their leagues. 2K Cam tried to take the cheesy CAM out of this years game, but they quickly saw that people want NBA Jam rather than a SIM game. I fully expect for this game to get more and more cheesy rather than 2K standing up and going in the direction that they really want to go in. There is a reason why real basketball players prefer this game, but the gap is shrinking.

Yea man....first off 2k9 online gameplay wasnt 2 great, unless ur in a good league, what they need 2 do is bring lobbys back, THATS A MUST, (y the hell did they take out lobbys in the 1st place, thats y plying ranked games is almost pointless), and the next thing yall REALLY need 2 fix is these long hail mary passes being throw soooo perfectly all the time, which creates 2 many easy dunks n layups. every1 just turns the game into a fast pace, long passing, dunk contest. Thats y ranked gms feel more lik a 2 minute drill in football than a basketball game, with nuthin but long passes 4 easy scores. Which is y playing ranked games is pointless, this makes it way 2 easy to score dunks and layups. Let the people who actully have skill get the advantage, instead of those who can throw the best deep pass(which is every1). N trust me, i no how 2 stop all these chessy players, but regardless, this jus makes the game not fun and very unrealstic. I understand that people like 2 play at a fast pace, but all im sugesting is 2 not make it so easy to do this. Also, defense needs some improvements in 2k10, and a few more gameplay features, but other than that the game is pretty good.....but theres always room 4 improvement.

Who cares? The cover is to help sell the game, it isn't what MAKES the game. If it was, we would have had paint defense in 2k9 when you think about who is on the cover. It makes sense to put someone like Kobe on the game because it will sell. Now, if only they would change that mentality for what will sell in terms of the actual gameplay.

Get someone to create you a 2k10 slip with your favourite player on it if it bothers you that much.

In all, 2K9 was pretty phenomenal.. Realistic experience.. But, there are some major and minor issues that can be corrected in 2K10!!!

Blaming a camera angle for you losing is THE WORST EXCUSE EVER. Congratulations. You officially came up with the worst excuse for losing at a videogame of all frigin time.

Anyways, the one thing that needs improvement is the way the cpu plays. I feel like the computer decides whether it wants to win or not.

Sometimes they come out and completely run over my team. I mean nothing goes my way and Azbukie is dropping 3's with his closed on me. Other times, they come out playing like junk and the game is over by half time. Its wierd.

2k needs to adjust its sliders so we dont have to!

I think that bringing the self oop option back into the game would be a great idea. It adds a little bit of realism to the game. In the NBA, players like Tmac, and Lebron have thrown the ball off the glass to themselves. I believe gamers should be able to do it in the game. Also, gamers should be able to create dunks or a dunk set for created players. We have gone long enough without being able to make our own dunks. I think now is the time to allow us to do. I understand there will have to be certain limits. Just give us something to work with. And, Players should be able to do post game interviews. It would give us gamers a better opportunity to create more real life situations. For instance, we should be able to control the responses to questions. Sort of like what madden does in their superstar mode.

I have a few suggestions for NBA 2K10...mostly presentatiom:
1. Introduce the starting lineup
2. Signature pre-game routines like lebron and KG, Madden 10 has ray Lewi's dance during pre-game so it shouldn't be impossible
3. Players don't stop on a fast break to catch a pass, they do it in stride!! put that in the game please
4. The new created rookies look better than ever before, but there's no variety and some are really odd and hideous!
5. I LOVE the option to edit everybody's shoes this year, but we need an extra option that allows us to independently choose dark or light shoes for home/away games. I use the heat in franchise and they always wear dark shoes no matter where they play wtf?
6. Individual running styles... and defensive stances, like bowen or artest have in real life
7. Weight needs to matter!! Why can't my center back down a 5'3" point guard?
8. Brighter colors! your uniforms are waay too dull
9.More individual mannerisms...the way certain players react after dunks or big baskets is not the sane for everyone. live really did a great job with lebron especially. I love dunking on a fast break and watching him stare down the crowd.
10. Maybe a FIBA mode?
11. MLB 2k9 has EXCELLENT commentary, try to replicate this, especially when they aknowledge records and stuff like that.
12. MORE TATTOOS!! the NBA is probably one of the most tattoed leagues period. maybe an option where we can just copy existing players tattoos on our created players...like copying the birdman's right arm sleeve on my player?
13. more accesories: short arm and calf sleeves, different headbands etc...

More block animations. Being able to block the ball against the backboard.

Dunk mapping. The ability to choose which dunk you do based on the direction you choose. More flashy dunks. The dunk contest has some really sick dunks, and granted real players don't always use them in games. However on a fast break the ability to do a double between the legs, or off the backboard and jam would be nice but the risk of missing would increase.

Tattoos. The ability to have full or half sleeves. REAL Tattoos not just logos. Copy them from other players. Birdman, Lebron, A.I. etc.

Maybe my biggest want is Presentation, Presentation, Presentation!!!!

Year after year we go to the halftime report only to see an empty...poorly made desk. What happened to the 2k sports that had ESPN and did full recaps with commentary etc. Bring us The TNT halftime crew! Ernie, Charles, and Kenny. Have their animated likeness at the desk goofing around recapping the game. You don't know how much I miss Kenny's stamp of approval. Make this a real experience. So we feel like we are in the world of the NBA.

Intro the players! The Cavs photo shoot. Lebron throwing powder in the air. The Celtics doing their skits with Eddie House. The Circle of guys jumping up and down and chanting.

Also the Xbox has a vision camera. Only 2 games that I know of use it to put your face in the game. This would be a great feature for create-a-player. If you can't pull it off with putting your own face ON the player. Then atleast make it so we can take our picture and use it in the menus. When looking at our guy in the roster, or when it shows the pictures of the players in the starting lineup. A very simple thing would be really awesome, rather than looking at a gray silhouette.

Just some of the things I can think of right now. OH and please fix the lag.

We need new commentators and less repetitive comments from them. We need ability to stop and pull-up without stopping for a second then shooting, we need to do it all in one motion. Shouldn't be able to strip the ball all of the time on fast breaks. Dunking should be decreased because J.R. Smith goes baseline and throws down a WINDMILL on my bigs (when I play against people) and I'm not going to get started with LeBron/Kobe. PLEASE fix the problem where the player goes through another player, morphing? More features: Olympics/FIBA, All-Star weekend in and out of Association mode. More realistic trading, more post moves and realistic moves that players actually do (like Shaq and his domination inside, or Yao and his weird looking jump hook). I was thinking about this very thing yesterday. Great idea. I just think that might be too complicated for 2k Sports. What I mean is that a player doesn't even really get his hand on the ball for a block shot in this game. What's the point of having longer arms when Steve Nash can got for a block and get it, even though his hand is 2 feet away from the ball?

1. Mid-range game. There is virtually no mid-range game in nba 2k9. AI is always wanting to attack the basket or shoot a 3.

2. Jump shots. When a player sets up for a shot his feet have to align or something into the invisible grid on the court and it just takes away from the authenticity of the game. it feels robotic.

3. Missed shots. There should be a greater variety of missed shot and lay-ups. For example: Have the ball rattle in the rim a few times then pop out, or a nasty brick of the back of the rim that sends the ball flying back towards the 3 point line to the waiting hands of a player ready to launch another 3. There should also be some nasty dunks off missed shots, like Dwight Howard does all the time.

4. CPU Defensive Adjustments. The CPU should adjust, like switch to a zone or alt accordingly. Also the player doubling on the post should not be able to jump back to guard his player so quickly, especially at the 3 point line. Also have defensive mishaps, not all the time but maybe 1-2 times per game, where the defensive leaves a player wide open for a 3 or for a crazy windmill dunk.

5. ***Lead passes absolutley***. You should be able to lead the player to any spot on the floor and catch the ball in momentum.

6. Signature moves. This should be improved, they have most of the players decently cloned, but they should refine them a little more. The Jump shots should be tighter, some of the players shots have their elbows to far out when shooting the ball (dwayne wade), they should tighten that up a little. And we should be able to see more wrist action on the release.

7. Dunks. Dunks just look silly, they do not look authentic at all in my opinion, they should look more realistic. and have agreater variety of dunks, not just one small set per player. Power dunks should feel deep and powerful. While fast break dunks should be exciting and exhilirating.

8. Commentators. Wow, this is just poor in these games, there needs to be more excitement out of the announcers, have them favor one team over the other and get into debates on who they think the better team or player is on the court, also have them talk about other teams and players not on the floor including Mvp candidates if possible.
Why not upload new comments from the announcers to the game mid way through the season according to how the season is going.

9. Crowd noise needs to be improved, music in the stadium should thump, there should be playoff themes for example everyone dressed the team colors

10. Layups. variety, variety, variety. The more variety of shots the less likely someone will get bored playing.

i agree....Tayshaun Prince, Lamar Odom, Lamarcus Aldridge all have beasty wingspans....even rondo has long limbs for a Pg but 2k doesn't understand every aspect of basketball...just dunking and crossovers. :( And plase let players get AIR under there jumpers....everyone is so flat footed when they shoot in this game with a few exceptions.

I was thinking some more and I decided to add to my original post. It would be cool if we could create our own history/background info on the DNA players we make. Just have a database of words minus the profanity and 2K does not need to worry about them being uploaded with the actual player. Perhaps we could have player trading cards too?

I like the idea of being able to upload created teams to use; this could be a simple way to download someone's created version a classic team, or just an entirely fictional team. I would enjoy being able to play online with my own created team too. We could see the basic rating for offense/defense/overall and just decide whether or not we want to play against that person's particular team. Seems like it would break-up some of the boredom online to me.

Since I play a lot of association mod, my first suggestion would be:
when I try to resign a player, or sign one, they almost never agree to anything else but a 10% increase each year, so on a 6 year contract many players end up making 30 million, there should be a cap on the maximum salary.
The sum of the contract should be determined not by the players rating but by his stats. If a player has a good year, he so increases his price. That happens in the NBA all the time.
I don't like that when simulating point guards don't average 10+ assists a game, and C/PF rarely average 10+ rebounds.
Point guards in the draft just seem to be way too small, like 5'10'', same with SG, they're like 6'3''
Some players like Lebron, Amare just dunk way too often and it just looks unrealistic.
You should add to achievements scoring titles, Finals MVP etc.
If players age, they lose all kind of attributes. It's natural that players lose speed, durability, stamina, but I think they shouldn't lose shooting attributes.
Make multiplayer for PC. I would like something like Co-op, 5 vs 5. More PC users would buy the game then
Create/raise a player sounds nice.
Players body type doesn't change, for example a send a center to weight camp he gains some( a lot) weight, but looks the same.
Chemistry on some top teams like the Celtics just gets out of hand too easily, because there are a lot of good players and they want playing time. So I have to break up the team. There should be some traits, like team leader which make them accept their role or something like that.
Players in association, using development just get way too good.
Always it's just impossible to stop a team's leader like Kobe( especially on superstar+), if he starts to score, you just can't stop him. You can contest a shot but he still hits it.
Work more on the PC version of the game, I can't understand which play is which, when I get till selecting them, there are some xbox or ps3 buttons listed, and I don't know which keyboard button is for them. please change that.

blocked shots should almost never go in but as far as blocking layups are concerned, half the layups that are blocked ends up going in. and add animations when i sprint into a defender instead of seeing myself running on a treadmill into my defender but no collision

What I want to see in the game that would make it more realistic is player shot changes. Players need to alter their jumpshots constantly in real life and this should be an aspect in the game. Im not talking about making the shot impossible but players shots should not look the same everywhere on the floor.

We need a "create a play" feature.
Add more personal touches to the arenas like the Palace in 2k9. From the drone like announcer in LA with the organ, to the rowdy fans in Philly, and Utah.
How about adding old arenas as well? Spectrum, Garden, Forum, Alamodome, etc.

Your list is pretty good with a few exceptions. I totaly agree with your first 2 points. Commentary really sucked in 2k9 if your were playing the franchise mode. Just one quick example. They have a cool individual info about Tayshaun Prince. Something like "Tayshaun Prince is certanly the most talented player on that fully loaded Detroit team." But in my franchise mode, second season, Tayshaun got traded. But the next time I played against him, he still was the most talented player on a fully loaded Detroit Team. Even tough my opponent was Washington?!?
So your first two wishes are my biggest wish for inprovement. That would be very nice...

But you still got to be realistic about the possibilities for the game. Technical fouls, fragrant fouls or suspensions of the players and coach. Fight between players. That will never happen. Never ever. The NBA doesn't want it. They'll never allow it. Because they don't want the players to be able to do things that are "not sportsmen-like". So technicals and flagrants and so on, you'll never expirience in a video game.
...but I would love to see the coaches get furious on bad calls by the referees.

But again I like point 3 of your list. When you hear franchise-mode, you expect to be able to control the whole franchise. A little more strategic freedom would be great. I like the idea of the player roles. But I think features like that need to be more detailed. But 2k your on a good way.

On last but not least. A very personal wish. You guys at 2K, if you think it's necessary to put Kobe on the cover of 2K10...please put him in the Knicks jersey. That would be a burner!!! Thanks.

Another big big problem with this game is that it still operates on 8 axis control. UP, Down, left, right, angle right, left, etc. It should allow for all possible angles. Overall the game needs to feel smother, and have greate responsiveness. The players need to feel heavier as well...

on the commentary i pretty much agree but.... if you are going 2 keep using kevin harlan which i have no problem wit at least put doug collins along side him.... because i watch a lot of nba those two really seem to work well together and doug collins seem to go more in deph bout a team or player meaning..... he really does his homework when doing commentary. as far as cheryl miller.... i think that was a cool additon but at least let her interview the players at halftime & after games. love shoe editor but need more variety of shoes...as for editing player armbands & stuff they need 2 have shorter leg sleeves & longer leg sleeves. kobe's fadeaway needs to be more him like up fakes, up & unders, quick spins, shoulder fakes...

Kobe on the cover is probably the best start to NBA 2K's 10th anniversary... That's just SIIIIIIICK!!!

My ideas for this game. In previous posts I have to admit, i've asked for some stupid sh*t, but i'll keep it short and not so meh., kinda.

- Blocking. Giving us more control of the blocking animation. Just like the release of the right analog for shooting, give the user the same freedom when attempting a block. Whether VC use the right analog for the blocking, or if they let us direct the animation depending on how long we hold the triangle/Y button, this needs to be implemented so we have more/equal control with what we do on offence.

- Rookies. Created players/rookies faces in association mode, need more variety. Like in CAP mode, give the user the option to edit most if not all aspects of a CPU created rookie, with the option for random creations (face) at a push of a button.

- CAP. Please fix this. This mode has been criticized over and over again for the past two years. Add something similar to Tiger Woods 09's gameface, this will make creating past NBA greats easier.

- Mid-Air adjustment. I was very satisfied with the re-introduction of the mid-air shot adjustment (considering I wrote a novel about it, in the 2K7 forums) but it can still be improved to add more to our arsenal on offence. This feature should/needs to be extended to the layups and to other canned animations during a collision/s. The direction of where we flick the right analog should also play a part in where the shot is released - kinda like how we have more control on where we want to place a lay-up.

- D-League. I mentioned this in that same post in 2007. If done right, this could be great compliment to the association mode. Team managment options would have much more depth. I don't really want to say it because I enjoy the different modes, but if something needs to go, Blacktop would be a suitable sacrifice, with the 3-point and Slam-Dunk comp being added to the regular season.

I can't think of anything else at the moment, I hope some agree to what i've mentioned above.

Fix the minor glitches when playing against user VIP profiles.....


1)Nearly 10 times a game, the VIP controlled PG will simply stand and dribble out the clock, or stand and dribble until the clock is nearly run out and then take a standing shot with a man right in their face

2)The 'volleyball' glitch...Happens a few times a game where two players rapidly pass the ball back and forth to one another a dozen times or so....

Also, when playing with player lock on, CPU controlled team members are not aggressive enough trying to take people off the dribble...Using the 'shoot' button that tells your CPU guy to try to score should result in either a jumper, a move to then take a jumper, or a move to dribble to the hole for the shot.


Of course this should be base off of the individual player tendencies..So Kobe is going to do something different than Luke Walton...

You know how we always come up with good ideas that the developers never bother to put in the games? Well i came up with another one. Voice command. You put your headphone on and say what play you want your team to do. Example "2-3 zone" then your team does the play. Or you could say "howard, get open" then you'll see dwight howard trying to get open for a pass or etc. But lets say your talking with the other player in online then you would holddown the left thumbstick muting your self from the opponent and calling the play.

AND ALL THAT TALK ABOUT ASSOCIATION BEING BETTER THIS YEAR WAS CRAP. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO BRING UP PLAYER BIOS AND A WHOLE LOT MORE INFORMATION.

alot of players have slow releases.......ive played basketball all my life against top competition so i know what im talkin about.......for example......i've been playin wit cleavland on 2k since they drafted lebron and his shot release is to slooooooowwwwww........when i shoot with him i shouldnt get blocked by a 6 foot point guard......and when i try to do a quick pull up he wont shoot its like his feet are stuck to the ground......players should have quicker shot realeases and they should shoot a certain way depending on the angle and where they are shoting from....like if they have to fade away then the user shoundnt have to do it....let the computer chose what kind of shot to take.......aside from the shots i think there should be different commentators...and they shouldnt say the same thing all game....try to incorperate how steave kerr is in live....its more intresting and more in depth about whats going on in the game as well as the players on and off the court........t-mac shouldnt have kobes dunk package at all.......you shouldnt have to start your season over everytime theres a trade.....living rosters should affect the assiation mode also.........and why are teams limited to just 2 colors for the head bands you should be able to change the color depending on what jearsey the teams are wearing.......ill come up with more stuff later...peace

What happened to players of the game being interviewed afters games? need to bring that back just walking of the court after games like in 2k9 is so boring.

An idea I also had was, in association mode when you have a injured player who can not play, instead of having them on your bench in their jersey looking like they going to play, they could have a really nice suit on and could be some where in the crowd or right behind their team bench or maybe on the bench, and cut scene can happen during a time out or something and the announcers can mention their injury and how long they will be out can be in a pop box under their name. Something I thought would be a good add-on to the game. Prob If you get "D-Wade" one of his suits could be that nerdy looking outfit he had during the rookies game this year :D

Ok this is a feature that I think would be great. you create a player and take him through his NBA career. this would start when they get out of college you have the whole summer to get your player in leauges, the weight room and run him through drills in the gym that way you get him ready like in real life. you get drafted on how good you are at the end of the summer if you dont get drafted you become a free agent and work your game up so a team will pick you up. Once you get picked up on a team you can go to the weight room, gym,interviews,tatto places, barber shop,autograph signings, ect. ........oh and in just regular game play I think player intros, game fights and half time & post game locker room coverage would be great to step the game up.
Sounds good but i Don't think the created character should be the # 1 pick in the draft though no matter how hard you work him out. The created character should do workouts but his workouts should determine his potential rating. The highest I think he should selected is round 4 and they should come in with this years draft like blake griffin going number 1 and so so on.

I have been a strong 2k series fan right from the beginning. I was extremely impressed with 2k9 though there are some suggestions I would like to make as an avid 2k gamer. I'll try to make this concise and as brief as possible. Just 7 suggestions:
1. Please fix the menus so they don't appear cluttered. It seems very shabby when you try to close menus and search for specific modes.
2. Though I'm a Rockets fan, I believe Yao Ming and Brent Barry are kind of overrated (along with TMac) but I cannot auto-update so I dont know if you have already fixed this. I use Yao and T-Mac like they are gods of basketball. T-mac has a ridiculous spin and Yao can put up hooks from the free-throw line and Barry has an unguardable 3p range. The speed of big men along the post is too much to defend.
3. Increase the animations of winning. Especially Championship. It takes a lot to be a champion and I would definitely appreciate to see more victorious celebrations from my team after a long season.
4. Increase Team options in Association- Allow us to change the logo or name of the current team. And also include more flashy and visual logos and names for create-a-team mode.
5. It would not hurt to add some more dunk, emotional animations to specific players. It seems like KG and Yao hae the same array of dunks.
6. Itt would be awesome to have a video or sample free-throw shot so that gamers can anticipate the shot. Players like Shaq and Wallace are impossible to predict.
7. Along with this, the aspect of technical fouls relating to team frustration would be completely realistic. Finally I would also suggest some new commentary and a better halftime report show.
Besides these improvements, the rest should stay the same (of course improved graphics etc...) and the result is a redunkulous game. In my opinion...

If I want to quit a game and maybe start over, or change my rotation, this "simulation to end" is very restricted. replace that with the simple quit and exit buttons, wtf!

I THINK 2K10 would be great IF IT WILL simply add better passing (quicker, sharper or maybe even advanced passing controls), improve footwork (planting, pivoting) for both dribbling and post up, improve the effectiveness of sliders, TONE DOWN AI Help Defense (especially that of poor defenders), AI should only assist the user, NOT take over the game defensively for the user like in 2K9, and FINALLY continue to make momentum more balanced and realistic....

JUST MAKE THE GAMEPLAY MORE COMPETITIVE for USERS (go back to being "me vs you", if you suck = you suck, play poor user offense/defense = blowout better player) and base the OFFENSE vs DEFENSE more on timing and situational....After that then 2K could renovate the graphics/menus a little, improve C.A.P mode, and maybe add individual player/team intros and definitely add better announcing!!! THAT CAN'T BE TOO HARD.

2. During Games I would intentually foul my opponent and I wouldnt get a call, they need to fix that.

Career mode would be great, but I would settle for some slight improvements to player lock......

basically the other players you aren't controlling need to be more aggressive with their offense if they are an aggressive type of scorer...It seems that I have to bear too much of the offense when I play on player lock(which in many other ways player lock is more SIM than regular play mode)

It would be cool to see those moments recreated in the game somehow

Granted, it would be tough to find a way to incorporate plays like that into user-controlled, in-game action. But, that shouldn't stop a savvy game developer from finding a way to set parameters that would cause automated animations of plays like that to be triggered in the appropriate situations.

Breaking Backboards
No play in sports brings the fans to their feet and play to a screeching halt quite like when a basketball player goes airborne and hammers down a dunk so ferocious that it shatters the backboard. "Chocolate Thunder" Darryl Dawkins, who hasn't played an NBA game in nearly 20 years, is still famous for his backboard-breaking dunks of the '70s and '80s. And, Shaq's duo of dunks that literally brought the entire backboard crashing to the floor in the early '90s will live on in YouTube infamy forever.

Although spring-loaded, breakaway rims and reinforced backboard supports have largely made broken backboards a thing of the past, the occasional shattered backboard (or collapsing backboard support) would add a fun new element to NBA videogames. And, unlike when it happens in an NBA arena, gamers wouldn't be forced to sit there for any prolonged period of time waiting for arena staff members to replace the glass.

I don't want to see broken backboards in every game (much less every quarter), but throwing a broken backboard every so often throughout the season would add a nice touch of ambiance to a hoop game.

On-Court Scuffles
Although the NBA has done as much as it can to eliminate on-court scuffles from the sport, we're still treated to the occasional basketbrawl – typically nothing the magnitude of the infamous Malice at the Palace – but brawls nonetheless. While these brawls cast a dark shadow over the league when they occur, the fact remains that those brawls are a part of NBA culture and have been for decades. It's time to get them into the game.

I'm not suggesting that we go all Blades of Steel with NBA videogames, including fighting mini-games and allowing gamers to beat the opposition with fists and chairs. But, the occasional cutscene of players bumping chests and jawing at one another after a hard foul would go a long way towards recreating the on-court intensity displayed by real-life NBA players.

And, it wouldn't be the end of the world to occasionally see one of those chest-bumping incidents flare up and turn into an on-court skirmish, would it? After all, try as they might, there's nothing the NBA could possibly do to cause us to forget images of Ron Artest climbing into the stands, Carmelo Anthony sucker-punching Mardy Collins and quickly backpedalling to the far side of the court, or Jeff Van Gundy sprawled on the floor clutching Alonzo Mourning's shin like a jockey desperately clinging to his horse's saddle after being thrown.

Technical Fouls
NBA videogames have been issuing technical fouls for defensive three-second infractions for years, but those aren't the "T"s that keep fans of the league on the edge of their seats, are they? The technicals that get NBA fans going are the ones slapped on boisterous superstars who argue incessantly with the refs or physical defenders who get caught swinging malicious elbows while securing a rebound.


It would add another layer of realism and authenticity to NBA videogames if, after missing his fourth consecutive shot without getting a foul call, Kobe Bryant got hit with a technical for jawing with the refs while jogging back on defense, or Rasheed Wallace got whistled for swinging his elbows after pulling down a defensive board. Again, I'm not suggesting that the game should be bogged down by AI-induced technical fouls, but having guys whistled for an occasional "T" could definitely improve upon the gaming experience.

Effective Lead Passes
One of the most common frustrations NBA videogamers encounter is that most games don't seem to have been built with any appreciation for the importance of leading a player with a pass. So, even when you come up with a steal at mid-court and have a pair of players running the break, as soon as you decide to pass the ball to either of them they stop right where they are and wait for the ball to arrive, giving defenders ample time to recover and set up on the other end.

Expanded Dynasty Modes
Why hasn't an NBA game thought to expand its franchise mode to give gamers the ability to set ticket and concession prices and track their franchise's revenue? And, why hasn't an NBA videogame given players the ability to use that revenue to upgrade their franchise's facilities (or build new facilities altogether) or let them move and rename their franchises? Madden has been doing it for years and it's added another layer to the game's franchise mode that adds immensely to the game's lasting appeal.


I can only hazard a guess that there are a lot of NBA fans in Seattle that would love to have the option of taking a team – let's just throw out, oh, I don't know… the Oklahoma City Thunder – and moving it to Seattle and recreating the Seattle Supersonics.
It's time for NBA videogame developers to wise up and build an AI that recognizes the importance of the lead pass. Just as NFL quarterbacks understand to throw the ball to the spot on the field where their receiver should be as he completes his route, NBA point guards know to deliver their passes to the spot on the court where their teammate should be cutting to or spotting up for an open shot. It shouldn't be so very tough to emulate that in a videogame.

Dirty Defense
NBA games keep adding to players' repertoire of offensive moves, but where are the subtleties that make all the difference on the defensive end? Give defensive players the ability to tug on jerseys, step on the opposition's feet, and use elbows, knees and hips to bump their man off the block – where would future Hall of Famer Karl Malone be without these all-important tools?

Most players aren't blessed with an Allen Iverson-like crossover, Lebron's first step, or the ability to stroke jumper after jumper in their defender's face like Ray Allen. It's time for videogame developers to start including some tools for the league's workmen who have to scrap and get down and dirty at the defensive end in order to earn playing time and contribute to their team's success.

Advanced Draft Scouting
Real-life ballers are scouted from the time they're in middle school at this point, and the top NBA prospects often gain national recognition by the time they're in their junior year of high school. How about allowing in-game GMs to scout players not only for the upcoming year's draft, but to track prospects for multiple seasons as they progress towards draft eligibility? By doing so gamers could project the depth of talent in drafts to come and really do a thorough, thoughtful job of rebuilding and reloading, targeting specific players they'd like to acquire years before they're in the draft pool and sculpt their rosters accordingly to make a move for that future superstar that can help turn their franchise around.

Include Rivalries Between Individual Players
Games have caught on and included team rivalries, but we have yet to see a game assign rivalries (and their effects) to individual players. NBA basketball may be a team sport, but it's the head-to-head showdowns between superstars that really drives the league. The league wouldn't be what it is today without the Magic-Bird, Olajuwon-Shaq, and Lebron-Carmelo rivalries? It's time to bring these rivalries into NBA videogames and give those rival players temporary attribute boosts (and possibly impose attribute penalties to their teammates shooting skills to compensate for the fact that they'll get fewer touches and thus have a tougher time getting into a shooting rhythm) to encourage those rivalry players to take over games.

The Flop
Yes, the NBA is fighting vigorously to eliminate the "flop" from its games. But, that doesn't change the fact that the flop has become a significant play throughout the league over the past couple decades, and it doesn't change the fact that it belongs in NBA videogames.

Although just about every modern NBA videogame produced allows players to set up to take a charge, that doesn't go far enough with regard to replicating the flop's impact on the game. Since games typically already have a button assigned to the defensive controls to set up to take a charge, how about simply refining that control to allow defensive players to flop as well?

The mechanics of adding the flop to videogames would be simple: Rather than hold down the "take a charge" button to try and draw the offensive foul, players could tap the button once to set up to take the charge and tap it a second time to return to playing normal defense. However, if a player presses and holds the "take a charge" button, he should hit the deck regardless of whether or not the offensive player actually initiates contact.

It would be cool if you could create a player and have him start his career off as a senior in high school. He then gets offers from different colleges and then decides which one he wants to go to. As your created player plays through his college career he developes skills based on his performance and it also determines how high he gets drafted in the NBA draft. When he gets dratfed show your player walking up onto the stage to meet David Stern and get his hat and jersey.

And here are some things your created player could do during his NBA career:

-Counter a team's salary offer when they try to re-sign you at the end of your contract
-Ask for trades
-Rehab your player if he gets hurt
-Sign endorsement deals like Nike, Gatorade, Timex, T-Mobile etc.
-Buy stuff for his mansion like a trophy room, an arcade, furniture, a bowling alley, etc.
-Start rivalries with players even teammates
-Show your player accepting his awards that he earned for the season
-Get sent down to the developement league if you're not up to par and work your way back up.
-When you retire you can get inducted into the Hall of Fame if you had a great career.

In Association Mode add:
-Pre and Post game interviews with players
-Starting lineup introductions
-If a team isn't doing well during the season the less fans show up to the home games.
-Choose to get technical fouls if you want to by gesturing to the officials on a bad call.
-Show the fans on the scoreboard screen during time out sometimes.
-All-Star Weekend with the Dunk Contest, Three Point Competition, Rookie-Sophmore game, etc.
-Move your team to a different city if you want.
-Create-a-Stadium
-Charge for tickets, food, drinks, etc.
-If players are injured have them on the bench with a suit on and not in their uniform.
-Better halftime show
-In Hall of Fame difficulty don't have CPU centers and power fowards knocking down jump shots two feet inside the three point line unless they're K.G., Rasheed Wallace, Okur, Chris Bosh, Zach Randolf.
-Have Shaq dive into the crowd after loose balls.
-Dwight Howard talks to the basketball after another player takes their first free throw shot.
-Retired players can become Head and/or assistant coaches a couple years later.
-Better championship celebrations and not the same one every season, at least ten different celebrations
-Make the rookies look different that come into the league, I'm tired of seeing three or four players who look the same on the same team, QUIT BEING LAZY 2K!!!!! Can you create some kind of generator that can create random looks for the players.

I love the 2k series and it's the only basketball game I've played since the Dreamcast. I hope you guys keep up the good work.

PLEASE! I created an account just to post this message.... PLEASE add penalties for quitting online games! When "player A" quits or gets disconnected, "player B" should receive a win and receive all statistics up to that point in the game (as many discons happen at the end of the game when there is no chance for one person to win anymore), and "player A" should receive TWO losses and have it reflected in their DNF %. NBA 2k8 was horrible at this and though I did not buy 2k9 because I heard these issues were not fixed, I DO intend to buy 2k10.

It is dramatically important to make the punishments for quitting so severe that there is no incentive to do it, because there are a lot of really sore losers out there. I will tell you this, I probably played somewhere in the ballpark of 200 online game of 2k8. Out of those games, I think my record was somewhere around 49-70. That is 81 games (almost all of which would have been wins btw), that didn't count for me at all because someone quit late in the game. It absolutely is the type of thing that takes ALL the fun out of the game.

I really agree with that, teams and fans should go crazy for buzzer beaters especially if it's a game winner, just walking off the court like it was nothing get kinda boring and doesn't seem exciting at all.

I also what's up with the imaginary wall, when you tip the ball and it goes flying into some imaginary wall and it automatically out, come on. the ball should be able to fly into the crowd or something and someone can catch it and throw it back, make it more realistic. Half time should be a little bit longer, like is the players stats and teams stats the only things you can put for half time. Make the announcers talk about what the teams can do to improve or certain players, a half time show or something. Maybe a ceremony if a player on your team won seasons MVP or a player is retiring.

Retired coaches and players can come to some of your team's home games, even celebs! MAKE 2k10 THE BEST 2k GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol :P

The officials should review buzzer beaters and see if it will actually count or not, it's like if the buzzer goes off while the ball is in your hand, sometimes they should make it count and then it can get reviewed and fixed later, really in 2k9 if the buzzer goes with the ball in your hand 90% of the time it's not going in lol and the screen kinda goes away really letting you know you didn't get it off in time, should change that.

I' m a huge fan of this game, it the most realistic basketball game ever. But there are things that can be puted in the NBA 2K10 that can brings more realism to the gamer, so the game can not only be played; we whant to live it. I want a more deaply game experience.
THIS IS MY SUGGESTIONS OR WICH LIST:
1)New commentators, I like the ones that are in the NBA 2K9 but puting a randomly commentators in games is more realistic changing it each game; not the same commentatos in all games. Commentators like Reggie Miller, Steve Kerr , etc.

2)New Commentator speach: like strategies, players info, sarcasm, jokes and Half time speeches and commentary from other games with visual (that will be really great)

3)More deaply frachise mode: Brings visual of other games (videos), top 10 plays of the week or something like that. All star weekend with all the competitions.

4)New players intro like real in game intro. Like Lebron. And more realistic scenes after the game stars.

5) New players celebrations. That depends of the aspect of the game or situation.

6)Technical fouls, fragrant fouls or suspensions of the players and coach. Fight between players.

7)More realistic injuries.

8)More realistic croud.

9)More realism to the players.

To be the greatest sports franchise you got to develop new realism to the game every time, and you truly will succed every time.



Great Ideas.. in addition..

10) WARMUPS ON THE BENCH - players in real life are not just sitting there in their jerseys waiting to get in the game. They should be wearing their warm ups.. at least the top, and hopefully both top and bottom. Also injured(or suspended players, if possible) should be in suits at the end of the bench. And if they really want to get crazy have custom coach attire.. like Stan Van Gundy wearing his blazer with that nylon shirt under.

11) DIFFERENT NETWORK COVERAGE - They should have different network coverage depending on the teams play and the game importance. This may be hard for 2k10 because you need to acquire licenses and stuff but it would be a cool addition. With the different networks comes different commentators. They would have like the 2k network for regular games and like TnT or ABC or ESPN for big games, or big teams like Lakers or Cavs.

12) AGGRESSION BUTTON - Late in close games you should be able to amp up your D, and commit hard fouls in clutch situations. Where theres a chance it will be called a Flagrant or if it happens more than once it can trigger an altercation animation between the two players and get T'd up or tossed. This could be a button you have to hold while trying to steal or block.

13) AUTHENTIC INTROS - They should do a better job of customizing the player intros according to their team. Along with that teams entrance music, and in game sound effects. Like for NY when Nate makes a good move and scores you hear "shake and bake! Wooo!" <I know 2k9 has a few of those alrdy but im not taking about the announcer saying something, i'm talking about stadium sound effects>

14) CELEBRITIES IN THE STANDS - This may be hard cause they would have to pay for the likeness of the celebrities to have them in the game. But I would love to see Spike(NY), Jack (LA), Mark Cuban(DAL).. and any other frequent celebrity fans. And show their reactions to high flying dunks, bad calls, buzzer beaters.. ect.

15) FAN REACTIONS - Show random fan reactions to different situations.. game winners, crazy plays, bad class, clutch shots, blow outs.. ect

16) DEFENSIVE STOPS - You should be able to, especially late in the game playing against the Magic, or Derek Fisher, be able to set an option to "Guard the 3 point line" or "Hack-a-shaq(which is for dominating big men who cant make free throws) or "Stop penetration (to force a poor 3 shooting team to shoot a 3)

I love the game and believe it's one of the best basketball games ever but it could improve by just substracting flaws and adding things from previous 2k games.

For Example:
Add a halftime and postgame show similar to College Hoops 2k8. Add a career mode similar to 24/7 mode in the past. Though the feel of 2k9 is straight, I believe 2k8's felt a little.

Their were only a few thing that was frustrating and sould be subtracted from the gameplay. First is sometimes the game takes the control out of your hands...like plenty of charges are called when the animation takes control of certain plays. Especially don't like the fastbreak layup steals which happen to many times it the game instead of fastbreak blocks which you see more often.

A feature that can be added to 2k10 association, like we have the head lines in the 2K9, I was thinking you can add the NBA Care head lines and it can show what players and teams have done for their community and such and if they participated or held local activities of any kind. As the GM of your team you can do such things. Something I thought might be good add on. Would like to hear some thoughts on this! :D

I think first you need to have i mean need to have a player career mode theres no way you can have an amazing game like 2k9 and not have a player career mode i say start off picking your position, number,etc than start in your junior year and decide if your going to stay senior or enter the draft if choosed to stay you skip to NCAA national championship and play that game only as your player only maybe use the player lock camera and based on your stats your coach gives you an idea where you going to be picked in the draft but tells the player he can always improve the draft by going to nba draft combine or he can just take his chances by not attending the draft combine on draft day he gets to pick his suit and when drafted he goes up and takes pictures with hat on and jersey in hand with the commish. if selected to not to go on to senior year coach bribes him to stay and if still not selected to stay then he goes on to nba draft he has no choice because he wasnt expected to enter his name in the draft after he goes through drills he picks suit and when drafted takes pictures with hat on and jersey in hand with the commish. when he's in the league the head coach of the team calls him and tells him he has a future in the league but he wants him to play in the D-league first and he either accepts and plays or denies and gets traded and ends up playing in the d-league anyway when he finishes the season with the team he gets a call from the coach and the coach tells him the he thinks he ready to play in the N.B.A gives him his paycheck and then he buys a car/truck and drives to the stadium on game days and the career goes on from there.



okay now just gameplay.

1)players on the bench have to be in warmups and when the come of the bench the can like throw them to the uniform manager

2)when the game is over have the fans actually leave the game

3) have halftime and end game interviews with players of the game.

4) have player introductions have fans cheer for home team and boo the away team and during nba finals have the trophy up like the do now with the magic and lakers

First I want it to have an actual dunk competition or a better all star weekend all around like skills competition, 3 point shootout, Shooting Stars challenge, ect. Also i think they should show outside camera's of the arena and the city like in ESPN NFL 2k5.They should have a much better MVP presentation with the announcement and players and all. They need much better commentary and they should have crowd animations like players giving high fives to the fans. A Create-a-stadium feature would be nice. And there should be a Superstar mode like madden when your guy goes to college and gets drafted and all. And he should make appearances for autographs and stuff like UFC 09. i think 2k10 should try and add in something like madden moments from madden by ea. it wouldnt be too hard all the players could just have numbers instead of names. i always find madden moments entertaining! also i think either all time teams or specific year teams for each franchise would be awesome!
