1. Mid-range game. There is virtually no mid-range game in nba 2k9. AI is always wanting to attack the basket or shoot a 3.

2. Jump shots. When a player sets up for a shot his feet have to align or something into the invisible grid on the court and it just takes away from the authenticity of the game. it feels robotic.

3. Missed shots. There should be a greater variety of missed shot and lay-ups. For example: Have the ball rattle in the rim a few times then pop out, or a nasty brick of the back of the rim that sends the ball flying back towards the 3 point line to the waiting hands of a player ready to launch another 3. There should also be some nasty dunks off missed shots, like Dwight Howard does all the time.

4. CPU Defensive Adjustments. The CPU should adjust, like switch to a zone or alt accordingly. Also the player doubling on the post should not be able to jump back to guard his player so quickly, especially at the 3 point line. Also have defensive mishaps, not all the time but maybe 1-2 times per game, where the defensive leaves a player wide open for a 3 or for a crazy windmill dunk.

5. ***Lead passes absolutley***. You should be able to lead the player to any spot on the floor and catch the ball in momentum.

6. Signature moves. This should be improved, they have most of the players decently cloned, but they should refine them a little more. The Jump shots should be tighter, some of the players shots have their elbows to far out when shooting the ball (dwayne wade), they should tighten that up a little. And we should be able to see more wrist action on the release.

7. Dunks. Dunks just look silly, they do not look authentic at all in my opinion, they should look more realistic. and have agreater variety of dunks, not just one small set per player. Power dunks should feel deep and powerful. While fast break dunks should be exciting and exhilirating.

8. Commentators. Wow, this is just poor in these games, there needs to be more excitement out of the announcers, have them favor one team over the other and get into debates on who they think the better team or player is on the court, also have them talk about other teams and players not on the floor including Mvp candidates if possible.
Why not upload new comments from the announcers to the game mid way through the season according to how the season is going.

9. Crowd noise needs to be improved, music in the stadium should thump, there should be playoff themes for example everyone dressed the team colors

10. Layups. variety, variety, variety. The more variety of shots the less likely someone will get bored playing.

NO MORE CHARLIE VILLANUEVA'S IN CREATE-A-PLAYER.

Exactly. Every created player looks like Derek Fisher or Villanueva!

I don't understand why people complain about mid range shooting when there isnt any mid range shooting in the NBA, lol

Everyone either shoots 3's, or dunks, same with the game. I love shooting mid range when I play, but I know it's a lost art in real life

EVEN THE ANNOUNCERS SAY IT ON THE GAME WHEN YOU MAKE A SHOT WITH RIP HAMILTON, lol. They even know it doesn't exsist anymore.

I agree with the commentary & tightening up the jump shots, the releases are too slow this year

they should make effects like if you dunk it hard enough the screen will shake and no more blocked shots that go in

More signature animations of stars, and each team should has their own crowd animation and signature animation before the game(LerBron scatters the Mg2O3 powder.).

8. Commentators. Wow, this is just poor in these games, there needs to be more excitement out of the announcers, have them favor one team over the other and get into debates on who they think the better team or player is on the court, also have them talk about other teams and players not on the floor including Mvp candidates if possible.

1. not shooting mid-range jumpers is a matter of the difficulty you are playing on. Not 2k9's overall a.i. system

2. I definately agree with this, when they have a chance to set up before they catch....it's nice...but a lot of people create their own shots...and this can make it tough/visually un-impressive.

3. Yeah, this is actually an awesome idea that i've never thought of..or never seen anyone else bring up. This could really change the game. Especially since some people like to just jack up 3's..it's kind of lame when they can shoot 3's all day..and get offensive rebounds like it's nothing...offensive rebounds on 3's are not likely....and rebounds on missed 3's...generally get the rebounding team in a fast break...so yeah.something like that could genuinely force people to play more intelligently

4. I see what you're saying..once again..this can be not fixed..but somewhat alleviated by adjusting the game difficulty and game sliders...and yeah, just about every game..there are serious miscommunications or forgotten assignments on defense...allowing atleast 1 player to do what he pleases..whether it be shoot the 3....or electric slide into the pain for a monsterous jam....i think this should be almost unavoidable...unless you're team has awesome defense...and there is a way to have your focus be on mistake free defense...but that's another topic....i like this idea..a lot.

5....YES....FINALLY...finally someone has covered this..i hate running on fast breaks...and passing the ball...and having my player stop, and allow the defense to get into position while he catches the ball....i feel like there has to be around this flaw in the game..but i shouldn't have to discover something like that..it should be a natural part of the game..like on choops..i loved choops for that reason..yeah..you could easily turn the ball over f you passed with the wrong guy or passed two far....or it just wasn't in rhythm...but you could play up-tempo style of basketball...you can't do that on 2k9 as far as i know..and if you can..it isn't as easy as it should be....

6. I agree, i would like to see a wider array of iso moves...different moves from different players and so forth....same with dunks and lay ins...they have rondos little statue of liberty lay in pretty good...but you're right..they could def refine it...as far as jump shooting..they need to do some serious work on that...follow through..or wrist action..is virtually non existent...the elvation of the jump shots is innacruate..the releases are slow and performance hindering...and beyond that...they should have custom jump shot...like create a jump shot....it's too easy to get a nice skeleton of jump shooting with all the players they map...and you could control things like elevation...elbow, in or out...45 degree angle or more....follow through....legs...jump straight up....quickness...etc.. etc...i would love this.....this way...if my favorite players jumper was off...i could make what my interpretation of it was and be happy..not to mention...all my rookies i recruit...what a great feature that would be

7. Dunks are a little, odd in my opinion. You are right...a lot of them look un-realistic...you really have to have the right set up for defense..and right timing....things have to be in place..for you to throw down a monster slam...and have it look legit...there should also be a momentum factor too...the dunks are just animations..virtually every animation is the same..why not incorporate the collision sensor into ducking....when there hands collide with the rim....from different angles..different things should happen...ii guess what i'm asking for..is a better physics engine all around the board.

8. yeah, one thing i was very dissapointed with....was the commentating...i want them to talk about the players individually..i want better name recognition like on choops...i want them to talk about league news..and play off chances...and predictions...get more hyped when something big happens...instead of kennys WHOOAAAA.......i understood it on 2k8...it was only there 2nd release on next gen consoles...but they should have had it figured out by 2k9...and have no excuse now

9. Yeah, another awesome idea...and to elaborate on that...There should be a bigger crowd influence. The teams should pump the crowd up by playing well, making big plays..getting crucial stops, hitting big shots..getting fouls...making big dunks...and in turn...the crowd should pump up the players....ncaa basketball 09 actually has a pretty decent system set up like i mentioned...but i expect 2k to do better then ea's very sub par college basketball release. You should also be able to see how the crowd is impacting your team...and be able to choose how you use their energy...ie...defense..offense..hustle..things like that...

10. yeah, this kind of goes hand in hand with shot animations/dunking...but you're right. the more variety, the better. At this point..2k should have the funds and technology and user feedback necessary to map players more effectively...have more intricate detail/wider array of shots..layups..dunks..passes...ball handling movements.

All in all...this is probably the best list i've seen for improvement....you are on the same page as me...forget all these different game modes that people want...let's focus on how to make the gameplay more realistic...let's get back to the standard you set for us with releases like choops 2k8...and raise the bar...once you've done that...you can leave it alone...fix the glitches in future releases..because there will be some glitches in every video game....and then we can work on other game modes...

by the way....can we please..PLEASE get rid of blacktop mode...it's worthless...not completely...but the dunk contest and 3 point contest..that is an all-star weekend deal...maybe it's a licensing issue...but if that's the case....i would rather have add ons to association..or a superstar mode...then have make-shift all-star events...and 3-5 on 3-5 street ball and 21...those can be fun..but i didn't buy the game for those features..i bought the game out of wanting the best NBA simulation available.

this thread should be stickied so 2k can see the importance of these requests.
