I play 2k9 more than anything, I do, however, own Live 09. I agree with most of the world as to how the 2k series has taken over basketball gaming over the last few years, but also appreciate the few features of excellence in the Live series.

The part that I enjoyed most about Live 09 was its online, equivalent to 2K's Team-Up mode.

In Live:

- The mechanics aren't as solid as 2K, nor is the realism.

But, you are given the ability to create your own roster, consisting of numerous friends etc. You then organize games against other teams and compete for the best record.

What makes this so exciting is: Your captain picks your "team" (ex. Lakers....) and assignes you a position (different playing styles fit different positions, if you play on a real team then your original position usually fits you best, or at least this is the case with me.) Now you all meet up, practice a few times, understand how you guys play, how your offense works out, study everyones strengths and weaknesses etc. Especially the guards.

See, this adds a lot of realism to the game, allowing you to actually play in a game ad go through what professionals do. And this is just the beginning to this game mode.

Due to the nature of the game made, everyone plays with great sportsmanship, and if you're a ball hog or cherry picker or even selfish you might be shown the way out.

Electronic Arts made it so that all your stats are tracked completely, which adds more depth into the game, others can scout you, your ppg, apg, bpg, rpg, fg% etc, and ask you to try out for their club, if you've ever successfully played this mode on Live you know what I am talking about in this post.

If you haven't, Ill try to break this up for you. When you've battled like a team through the whole game communicating through your headsets and what-not and Finally, there is 1:00 minute left on the clock and the game is tied, the excitement is overwhelming and you have the most fun of your life. Especially if you have the ball with 5 seconds left and your captain's called time out and told you that you're going to get the ball.

What I'm trying to say is that if 2K delivers this type of a game mode in 2k10 then it would be 100x better than what electronic arts has accomplished just because of the 2k series' mechanics and realism. I hope you guys see eye to eye with me and agree.

Trust me, this would be the best thing to have ever been added to this series.

Thanks for reading my first post :).

I personally love playing Team-Up. It's probably the most enjoyable thing to do on NBA 2k9, IF the entire game is played with multiple people on each team and there is no lag. I have played in games like those. Unfortunately, that game doesn't happen very often. Either half the people drop in the first couple minutes, the network conditions are too poor to continue playing (happens before the game begins), or there is lag.

I would love if you were able to pick your own team and play with people that you know. I think it'd be cool to have Team-Up Tournaments or Seasons as well. I love the idea of keeping stats, not just teammate grade. That said, I think teammate grade should play an important role in how easily it is to find games. Maybe create a lobby where no one with a D grade or lower can join.

Yeah you're right about how people usually drop out, but that being said, no one ever drops out when you have your own team with people you know because they want to win as badly as you, and purposely quitting a game results in a loss.

I love the idea of creating a lobby with only people that have a good grade for being put on the same team with random people that you dont know thats still fun. But I think that having your own team that you have a good chemistry with is the key to winning.

You're probably the only 1 who vated no, but the reality to your argument about making sure online doesn't lag (first) is that: You need to get a better connection, I'm sorry but I rarely ever go through lag online. I do agree however that the free throws are bugged/lagged online, same with the shot timing. The game responds SLIGHTLY slower online, but that throws off your release timing on people's jumpshots (Like Kobe/Lebron).

Instead of putting this on a seperate thread I'll just say it here. I was playing today with teh intent of finding errors and bugs for potential fixes and I saw a very unusual one. Players that jump out of bounds to save a ball do so even when the opponent has touched it.. Meaning it would have been their ball but they risk loosing a possession by trying to save it.. This is very awkward anyone else gone seen this?

Update: I also think that you should let players pick their primary/secondary positions and try to get them those positions in real games. If 2 players have the same primary, theres 50-50 chance of getting the position they want, based on effectiveness rating? Like choosing someone who averages 7 apg over someone with 3 apg? And the player who doesn't get their position gets shifted to their secondary position etc. I hope taht wasnt too confusing to understand lolz.
