View Full Version : My own Nba 2k10 PC suggestions.

First, of all I would like to say that my first suggestion for Nba 2k10 PC has to do with why 2k sports should not use the steam software to force people who want to install and play the game on their PC's in order to play the PC version. During the last year since Nba 2k9 PC came out I saw a lot of guys on this forum rightfully complaining about not being able to install Nba 2k9 PC on their PC's, because either the steam software or the game itself would tell them that they needed a valid cd key to install the game. I never had that problem myself when I installed Nba 2k9 PC on my PC, but i think 2k sports should just print a valid cd key in the back of every game manual that comes with every game disk. I also strongly dislike the idea of steam being added to 2k10 PC, because if for some reason people can't pay for their internet access how are they going to obtain any official game patches for Nba 2k10 PC if 2k sports only makes the patch available through the steam website. I have tried turning the steam software offline, but every time I did that the steam software would annoy me by asking me if I really wanted to play Nba 2k9 in offline mode. So what I finally did was to leave the steam software in online mode and allow it to add all those annoying steam updates that have nothing to do with me playing Nba 2k9 PC on my PC. I fully understand that 2k sports is really paranoid about their games being pirated, but not everyone including myself believe in buying pirated games and therefore everyone who is planning to buy Nba 2k10 PC should not be forced by 2k sports to deal with the steam sofware again.
My second suggestion to 2k sports is to make Nba 2k10 PC have the same system requirements as Nba 2k9 PC whitch are Windows Vista, XP, or 2000/ CPU Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Single Core Processor or equivalent (2.8 GhzFor Vista) / Ram 512 MB or more (1 GB for vista) / Disc drive 8x or faster DVD drive / Hard Drive 10.5 GB OR more free space / Video DirectX 9.0c compatible / Sound BirectX 9.0c compatible / Input : Keyboard or dual -analog gamepad. (Video Card with 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets is required: ATI x1300 or greater / NVIDIA 6600 0r greater / DirectX 9.0c compatible card with Shader Model 3.0 support. I strongly ask people like 2k Ron and the game developers at sk sports to make Nba 2k10 PC have as closely as you possibly can make the game have very similar system requirements as Nba 2k9 PC because as we all have seen on this forum not everyboby has a PC with an Intel CPU that ideally can run at 4.0 Ghz like the Intel XEON processors or an Nvidia or ATI video card that has 512 MB or more of onboard memory and is either overclocked or is crossfire ready. I have seen a lot of guys in this forum saying that either their Intel or Amd CPU's are not fast enough for Nba 2k9 PC or their PC's have integrated video cards. I would like to suggest to those that have had trouble running Nba 2k9 PC on their PC's to look at the back of their computer towers to find out if they have an independent video card installed on one of their computers PCI slots if they do have a video card in one of the PCI slots then check wether the card was made by either Nvidia or ATI and see if it has shader model 3.0 or above by either calling their PC manufacturer or going to the Nvidia or ATI websites to find their video card specifications. Last november before I bought Nba 2k9 PC I downloaded the game demo and that is how I knew Nba 2k9 PC would run on my PC. I just hope that 2k sports will be releasing a demo for Nba 2k10 PC again this year.
The third suggestion has to do with some of the arenas in Nba 2k9 PC not having almost any of those electronic signs that go around the arenas that say "make some noise" The arenas that I want 2k sports to put those signs in are the pacers, the kings, and the nets. I understand that some of these teams are not cosidered marquee Nba teams but when my bulls play in some of these three teams arenas the game atmosphere is very dull and boring.
The fourth thing that I would like 2k sports to fix in the PC version of Nba 2k10 is the arena lighting in staples center witch is awful, because when the bulls play at the staples center against the Lakers I can hardly see any of the fans in the upper sections of the arena. Other arenas like the United Center where the Bulls play have better lighting, but to use as an example the Verizon Center and the American Airlines Center have the exact lighting that all the arenas should have.
Finally, I would like to ask 2k sports if they can put the following season schedule that used to be present in the Nba Live PC games in season mode where you could choose between playing the same season schedule as every Nba team does during a regular NBA season or have the computer give every team in the game a different simulated schedule than the real schedule that comes with the game by default so that a player doesn't have to play the same old schedule during season or association modes every time.
That is all. i hope that all of you guys can please give me positive and constructive critiscm without using any foul language regarding my suggestions for Nba 2k10 PC.

Might be the wrong forum...I dunno, I think if you're gonna suggest changes make it apply to every version of the game not just your own... :/

-If 2k needs to use Steam in order to control piracy then by all means they should use it.
-Graphics should be the same as last years or better
-What disappointed me was that after a long season and barely making the Finals and coming out with a win there was only a 20 second celebration. The celebration, from what I can remember was just players jumping for 2 seconds and then a quick podium shot with them clapping their hands. There should be a much longer and more meaningful celebration in 2k10 (in MLB as well).
-Better shoes need to be done in 2k10
-Basketball courts need to be less blurry and more realistic looking with coloring of hardwood and lighting
-Crank up dunks for high flying players
-It may be just me but when I call for a quick screen, etc. my guy never comes and helps

You know what man you're I should have said in the post that all of this suggestions should apply for all versions of the game, but you need to understand my point of view I only play PC games I have never played a game on PS2 or PS3 OR the original xbox or the XBOX 360 consoles so therefore I am not familiar with those versions of the game. I am basically speaking from the point of view that most PC gamers saw Nba 2k9 PC. I also understand that a lot of of people who have played Nba 2k9 for the PS3 or XBOX 360 have had alot of issues that their upset with their respective versions of Nba 2k9 like not being able to play their games online, because of poor service that is provided by the 2k sports online servers or other glaring defects that sk sports left in those versions of the game respectively. I just think that the 2k sports Nba 2k10 game developers should carefully read as many of this Nba 2k10 posts as they can so that every version of Nba 2k10 can be developed as good as possible so that no matter wether you play Nba 2k10 on the XBOX 360 or the PS3 consoles or your just like me playing Nba 2k10 on the PC platform we all deserve to get the best quality Nba videogame that 2k sports can possibly develop.

Hey ca4224 I totally agree with what you're saying including 2k sports having the right to protect their games against piracy, but my main problem with the steam software is that it is constantly adding updates to my steam software that don't have anything to do wit Nba 2k9 PC most of the time. I think that 2k sports should use a software called SECUROM that EA used last year on Need For Spped Undercover where before the game can install on a PC the game connects to the EA servers to check if you have a legal copy of the game. Once the EA servers confirm that you do have a legal copy of the game the installation can usually go forward with no problems. Therefore the steam software is not the only way 2k sports can protect their games from piracy, because like I said I fully understand that 2k sports wants to protect their games against piracy, but what about those people who don't have a constant internet connection and are forced by 2k 2ports to have to deal with the steam software if they want to install and play Nba 2k9 PC on their PC's and therefore make them have to be punished because some people choose to pirate PC games.

once your game installs from steam you can play offline without a net connection it fails to conect and the client asks if you would like to play off line. the one thing i want to see is the sweat in the xbox360 and ps3 versions when you do a crazy dunk on the replays you see the sweat flying off the player. and when they ported over to pc they excluded that.

Hey CherryBomb I agree with you on both of your points regarding Nba 2k9 PC. When I first bought Nba 2k9 PC last year and installed the game through the steam software I have allways played the game using the steam software's online mode, because I figure that if I turn the steam sofware offline mode it allways keeps asking me if I want to play the game using the steam software back with the online mode. One of the other reasons why I think 2k sports should not add the steam software to Nba 2k10 PC is that for people who might lose their internet connection after they install the game on their PC they can allways go to a public library and instead download any official game patches from the 2k sports website instead of having to install any official game patches through steam. I also think that 2k should only add the steam software to Nba 2k9 PC for those gamers who might want to play the game using a possible online mode if they included on the PC version. I personally allways play my PC games in offline mode, because in offline mode you don't have to worry about the CPU doing any cheating and with offline mode you can still have dialup internet and not worry about not being able to play the game, because the 2k sports internet servers are down. I would also like to see like you said 2k sports include the body sweat flying of a player's body after he dunks the ball, because right now in Nba 2k9 PC the only hint that you might see that a player is sweating is during a timeout when you can see the sweat on their foreheads or their arms.

Hey chiling thanks for agreeing with me about the fact that 2ksports should include a cd key on the back of Nba 2k10 PC's game manual so that no one has to struggle once again with the installation of Nba 2k10 on their PC's. One other thing that I hope 2k sports considers adding to Nba 2k10 PC is the living rosters updates if they indeed plan on keeping the steam software within the game. Regarding the improved lighting for all the nba arenas I also hope that 2k sports will consider including the starting lineups presentation for both the visiting and the home team in every game including season and association modes by also dimming the arena lights when the home team is introduced and showing some cool and exciting videos on all of the arena's scoreboards when the home teams are introduced like they do on my favorite team's arena the chicago bulls United Center.

For me Steam is ok. I can't agree with you, even I understand it. I like Steam. I can talk with friends, make easy updates, defragment files of the game... Thanks to Steam I downloaded demo of NBA 2k9 in the past. Of course there were problems with Steam and with the game itself, but you know: it was the first time? they had released a game for PC and I bet it never happens again. No cd key? It was resolved fast: http://2ksports.com/news/nba2k9/249.
PC requirements... They already low. If they will improve graphics I don't know if they will keep actual minimal specifications... But if they will use the same engine, propably they can. For me it was great news that I could play demo and I can play NBA 2k9 with computer from '03! with a little upgrade^^ (high settings in the game, except crowd medium). More important is compatibility with Windows 7.
My Number One for NBA 2k10 on PC? -> Online Mode! (with things like Living Rosters and so on)

Hey NeseNVI i agree with you that last year 2k sports did a good job in quickly releasing a cd key for Nba 2k9 PC after the game was released, but I have to disagree with you about the steam software like I have already said the only times that I thought the steam software was necessary was when I had to download the Nba 2k9 PC demo from steam and the official game update for Nba 2k9 PC. Other than that I never use the steam software update to chat with any friends online or use the steam software for anything else. I still think that 2k sports should use the Securom software to protect Nba 2k10 PC from piracy. I once read that some guy on this forum said that 2k sports used the piracy excuse to implement the steam software in Nba 2k9 PC, but the real reason why he believed 2k sports used steam with Nba 2k9 PC was to spy on the total number of people that play Nba 2k9 PC through the steam software worlwide. In fact steam has certain elements in their software that detect the internal hardware and internet connection that is used by every computer that plays PC games through steam. I personall don't think that once I purchase a legal copy of Nba 2k9 PC that 2k sports or steam should be spying on me to see how many times I play Nba 2k9 PC. Regarding the system requirements I agree with you and strongly hope that 2k sports will use the same requirements that they used for Nba 2k9 PC, because my desktop has Windows Vista SP 2, Ram 3gb, Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT 256 mb of onboard memory with vertex/pixel shader model 4.0, SigmaTel Hd Audio, 500gb hard disk, CPU Intel Pentium E2180 dual core @ 2.00 Ghz. As you can see my desktop meets most of Nba 2k9 PC's system requirements For Vista except my CPU'S speed, but nonetheless thankfully I have been able to play Nba 2k9 PC with virtually no problems on high settings except on something called MSAA. That is why I strongly hope that Nba 2k10 PC will once again require a MINIMUM CPU speed of 2.8 Ghz for Vista so that gamers like myself will hopefully be able to play Nba 2k10 PC. Otherwise I just hope that game modders like Alby's, Juza, or Kuba will continue to make unofficial game rosters for Nba 2k9 PC so that those of us gamers who don't hace PC's with CPU's that run at 3.0 Ghz or above can at least continue to play Nba 2k9 PC with all the new players that all the Nba teams will add to their team rosters come October 2009 for the tipoff of the new Nba season.

This is what I am interesting too... Because if NBA 2k10 will use the same system files (.ROS for rosters, .STG for settings and .SLD for game sliders) it could be compatibility with NBA 2k9! The only problem would be with .IFF files (match)...

Hey chling you're right I strongly do hope that the developers at 2k sports include the updated living rosters for Nba 2k10 PC, but if 2k sports does include the living rosters in Nba 2k10 PC they might sell this game instead for $29.99 instead of last year's price of $19.99. NeseNVI I also agree with you I hope that guys like Juza, Alby's or Kuba will be able to make unofficial game rosters for both Nba 2k9 and 2k10 PC.

Hey, chiling I am just like you I am anxiously waiting for 2k sports to release the system requirements for Nba 2k10 the PC version. I recently ask one of the 2k sports moderators b - Dub if he could tell us PC gamers in an announcement what the system requirements for the PC version are, but I haven't heard anything from him yet. You're right HINRoseCity I guess I use the letters PC way to much when I talk about Nba 2k9 or the upcoming version Nba 2k10. I will make a concerted effort not to say NBa 2k 9 or 10 PC as much any more and by the way i think you did a great job with the post that you wrote on this forum regarding the fact that a lot of Nba 2k9 gamers in general often complain too much about the gameplay that was included in NBa 2k9 and about experimenting with the higher difficulty levels and different game slider settings to enjoy NBa 2k9 more in general.

Hey chiling you're right probably a lot of people didn't play Nba 2k9 PC or will be playing Nba 2k10 on their computers, but not everyone has the money to buy a new PS3 or an Xbox 360. There are still quite a few people like me around the world who believe in PC games like NeseNVI. I do agree that playing any sports video game is probably allways better to play on a console like PS2, PS3, either xbox or xbox 360 because they allways have better graphics and more features, but they are usually more expensive than computer games. I also think that computer games have an advantage over consoles in that there are a lot of computer game mods who make all sorts of cool unofficial mods for the PC games that they can never for the console versions of most videogames.
