Can you please fix this 2K?

I have had ZERO success playing ANYTHING online. Can't join a game. I create a game and sit there forever and nobody joins. Also, what are you supposed to do once you get a game invite on the bottom of the screen when you are playing the single player mode? You see the invite but have no way of responding?!

urmomlovesme
July 9th, 2009, 11:52 AM
The only way I know of accepting an invite is by going to the lobby and finding the person that sent you the invite on the list. Every time I attempt to except an invite it says the game room is unavailable and takes me back to the main menu (talk about a pain in the *****)...I know people are playing matches because the leaderboard is growing...

I think it might have something to do with our routers, seems like they have an answer for the xbox360 but still no feedback for the PS3....

2K Admin Ron
July 9th, 2009, 02:55 PM
Yes, I have gotten feedback that it might be router issues. Can all of you who are having this issue do one of the following two things:
1) Connect your PS3 straight to the wall and see if that eliminates the message.
2) Do port forwarding (google as it's different for every router) and unlock these ports - 88 (UDP), 1745 TCP\UDP, and 3046 (TCP+UDP).

Please let me know if, after this, it still doesn't work. Thanks.

Still not working. Glad I paid 65 bucks for a game that doesn't work as advertised. Between this and 2k9, I think I might be done.

"all of that" ? entering in 3 numbers to my Linksys settings? mind blowing i know but yeah.
was on again last night, still ZERO luck. i see game rooms created by other people, and they just sit there for 5-10 minutes. then disappear. then reappear again. i can't be the only one with this problem.

I have the same problem when I try to play online. I saw always the same 12 people and I can't join a game. I try to connect my PS3 direct to the modem, but it doesn't change anything. I never had trouble to play online with other games. Thanks, Simon.

So I joined your forum mainly to express my feelings on your subject. First of all, how idiotic is it that your going to have rival 2k baseball games matched up against each other? it dosent take a rocket scientist to figure that out that's a losing invesment. Second of all, you're better of the two, the bigs obviously, you are detirmined to follow suit of almost every other game you put out. There is always an issue with your online play. Instead of getting some old hacks to be your admins. There should be actual gamers like what the EA network so they can relate and actually fix ongoing problems. If you guys have to ask people on your forums to look into a network error you guys are out to lunch. Thanks for listening, hopefully you guys can fix your online problems before the 2010 gaming season.

I can't believe this.. no one is playing any games online , but i know people are online trying to get a game going .. the server can't detect any players that are online , for exhibition or ranked matches .. i cant even face my friend .. that annoying error message keeps popping up telling me that the room is no longer available .. you need a patch to fix this ASAP.

it cant be a router issue . its something far greater then that .

2K Admin Ron
July 15th, 2009, 03:40 PM
OK I got one more port for you guys to unlock... can you try 1795 both UDP and TCP? I have been informed that this is strictly a router issue, but that both players must have that port unlocked. It's a new port we are dealing with.

Same thing here. I spent an hour on the phone with tech help at 2K. I have tried all of the troubleshooting "theories" and none have shown any improvement. When I look at the leaderboard, it shows that a number of people have played 1 game. Nobody is shown as playing more than that. That tells me that there has been a problem since day 1.
I get the same message when I try. Have friends that have tried as well, all diffferant configurations, no luck. 2K, Please help!
The tech at 2K did recognize that there is a problem adn that it is being worked on, I just hope that it is a priority.

What the hell is that?? Now, we must change our security settings to play a baseball game??? It's really bad, cause I think The Bigs II is a great game, but now I understand why EASports is really is the #1. I plug my modem directly in my PS3 and it doesn't work at all.... So, it's a port forwarding problem.. Make me laugh!

Sorry, but it was my last game from you guys!

The fix is don't use a router, it works as I've tested it. Ronnie's port forwarding suggestions do not work, however; there may be other ports that need forwarding besides those he listed.

No, we shouldn't have to forward any ports on our machines but Ronnie is trying to give us a temporary solution while the folks (all two of them?) at 2k sports work on fixing the software for the next update or internal routing tables.

Still sucks. On top of it all I lost my first game 8 - 6 after taking a 6-5 lead.

ive been able to play a few games by cutting out the middle man. ill have to change wire wen i use pc though. i won first game but lost like 4 others. i was winning 14-3 in one but opponent "lost connection". its good online and 2k still has at least one customer (unlike the whiny *****es on this forum). still no stat card though.

CP, can you please try port forwarding as suggested in my last post and tell me if it improves? You should face someone else who has it as well.

I have tried the port forwarding on my router (with the ports listed in the game pamphlet, as well as from the 2K tech that I spoke to, and the port listed above). I have also opened up/forwarded all of the ports on my router. None of this has worked. I have tried this on some of my friends PS3's as well, same game, no luck. The in game leaderboard appears to be updating now, so I have to assume that some users have figured it out. But I have not. Any more advice would be great!

I hooked my internet directly into the PS3; no router involved. It does work, but it takes a while to get it going. This also causes an unnecessary inconvenience when I want to use the internet on my computer. The internet works fine through a router for the rest of my games and I should not have to do this.

Please, at least, respond to people with the steps you are taking to resolve this issue and the other problem that people just disconnect when they are about to lose. Completely takes away from the enjoyment of the game.

I'm sorry but I've had this game since launch and I still have yet to play another online game. I got to play 1 game on the first day I got it and that's it. I'm selling this game because simply it doesn't seem like there's much support for this title. Way to drop the ball 2K!

Hey Guys, i live in Germany and i have also played MLB2K8 online. Sometimes it goes and sometimes not. Now i have tryed to play the bigs 2 online. I have read the whole thread here and i have the same problems. I have played one game but it was lagging and so i had to disconnect. Now Admin Rod, i have on my router an auto upnp port releaser and there are no games available. Did you have tried by yourself the online gaming with the PS3? I can understand that on x360 the online must go the players have to pay for it. Why you dont open an Tourney or something on a day and you will see if the players can connect with you or you can connect by yourself. I dont know but 2k got so more pontecial and you loose so many buyers for your products. Why other games from 2k going online but the 2ksports dont go? The port release isn't the problem its up on the 2k server. Make it like in x360 and it will work.

What is really going on with online play? Its all messed up. I called a 2k rep the other day and he hung up on me bc i refused to believe that it was a SONY issue which it is absolutely NOT! Every other game I have works online but this GAME with my wireless router. I did try and connect an ethernet cable right from the modem and i got to play a few games yesterday, but then none of my stats showed up. I decided im not going to do this setup though everytime just to play this game online. There is NO reason why this game cannot function with a wireless router when every other game works. Im really tempted to bring this game back now due to the lousy online play. Is it really that hard to figure out? Dont release a game unless you know everything is going to work as advertised. Also, your 2k phone reps need to stop lieing also.

July 27th, 2009, 07:06 PM
Besides the online issue, the game is great i just want to add. I had MLB THE SHOW 09 but traded it in bc after playing the bigs 2 demo i decided it was just a lot more fun to play. Looks like i made a bad decision if all the online issues are not fixed. I should have just rented the game so i would have caught this issue. I will give this game another week or so to solve the issue. If its not fixed, lucky for me I work at best buy so i will be able to return it after its opened without a problem. Thank god.

Even though this is probably the most fun baseball game I have played. I'm glad I just rented it. I tried to play online a few nights ago and it would not let me. I was having the same issue all these other people are having. The single player is fun and all for a while, but like many other games it is more fun to play real people online. If online doesn't work then it's a no go for me.

This problem most likely will not be fixed. 2K is trying to blame your router and or Sony when we all know that is not the case. If people are connecting directly to their modem, then the router is not used so therefore can't be causing the problem. It's not rocket science technology people. They don't know what's wrong so they just try to throw us off with BS.

So just for ****s and giggles last night I decided to plug my ethernet cable directly into my modem and then try The BIGS 2 online. It actually worked. I still couldn't actually get into a ranked game, but if I made the ranked match room then people could connect to me. I played 4 games last and went 1-3. Sucks I know, but at least I got to play. I can see lag being a problem, but not gamebreaking. So maybe their is a router problem, but its still no excuse for 2K. They should of seen this BEFORE the game was released. It's like Vegas 2 all over again. I still won't be buying The BIGS 2 until this **** is fixed to where I can use my router. I suppose I could try and open those ports they mention and see if it still works.

I live in Spain, and I can play online with Civilization Revolution on my PS3 (2K), and it is impossible to play The Bigs 2!!! I really can not belive it. The worts is the 2K Sports Team has the marvelous idea to creat two stupids trofies for a non working online system.
That's a joke!!!
If I'm able to play with Home, MGS4 online, Civilisation Revolution online, PES online, Fifa online, Teken 5 online, Why I can not play with the Bigs???? I just think that the simple idea to chage some ports of my internet router is compleatly madness.

Well I downloaded the demo and liked it. Got my brother-in-law to play it, and he liked it also. He lives out of state, and we decided that we would both buy it and compete online. YEA RITE!!!!! I spent $44 on this yesterday and so did he. We couldnt get one game to connect online. If I knew this, I would have kept playing the demo for free.
