Why not make 2K news announcements on 2K's forum? Isn't that one of the reasons why it exists?

Great news. Lets hope its actual 360/PS3 info and not focused on the Wii or bringing the party back. At any rate looking forward to it, thanks Ron!

Cool screen shot of a reenactment of, I'm guessing, the famous Ovie goal against the Coyotes.
According to the 2k twitter ( http://twitter.com/2KSports)we're supposed to guess what the new feature is. Maybe, controlling the puck/player while diving?
stoney0ne
July 20th, 2009, 04:45 PM
That has to be a controlled thing
My first thought was that a new goalie deke was being put in. But there is no way they put in a goalie deke where you throw yourself on the ground
VeNOM2099
July 20th, 2009, 05:47 PM
I've already submitted my response: I think the new feature is total control of the puck (deke, pass, shoot) at ANY time (either standing, on knees or prone).

July 20th, 2009, 07:01 PM
Actually, I changed my mind. After seeing the box art for the 10th anniversary edition, I think the new feature is exactly what's beeing shown: RECREATE FAMOUS MOMENTS FROM THE NHL'S PAST!
It was a great feature in NFL 2K5 where you got to play in 25 of teh NFL's greatest moments ever. IF so, I hope they have the 1990 Stanley Cup Finals game 1 moment where Petr Klima came off the bench for the first time in overtime (they had played 3 periods so far) to score the winning goal!
That would be awesome!
NYIJK10
July 20th, 2009, 07:07 PM
I hope you're right "Recreate moments" would be sick. One example of that that would be perfect is Bobby Nystrom's Cup winner in 1980!

With a little more time to mull over what new feature the pic may represent let me offer the following thought. While I like, no love, the idea of the recreation of classic moments, ala NFL 2k5, I hope the new screen shot is not one of them. Instead, I hope its a representation of total stick control, a new diving animation, or just something else.
Trying no to be too picky here but he didn't score the goal against the current Coyote goalie (Ilya Bryzgalov) but against Brian Boucher.
I'm not saying the recreation has to be perfect just make sure the basics are right, i.e. if it applies, things like no helmets, wooden sticks, correct numbers on jerseys, etc... I understand that you can't recreate old arenas and use personality likenesses without permission, just bring it back to the way the classic teams were represented in 2k8. NFL 2k5 did a good job with getting the basics correct and I think 2k10, if they are implementing classic scenarios, can as well.

Yep. I can also go further: Ovie was wearing the old Washington White/Blue/Gold Caps jersey with Eagle Logo and he was playing away, not home.
Also, after seeing WWTC's last comment on 2khockey.net, I'm thinking the "new feature" is actually much more obvious. Kinda like Ronnie's last update where he asked people to guess what the "event" was he was hinting at (Las Vegas Mo-Cap shoot). So, again, this time it's something really obvious: SIGNATURE STYLES. Familiar players having familiar moves and animations. Some even that only specific players can do, like Ovie doing his famous "goal" on his back or his "hot stick" celebration.
Okay, now I want my Lamborghini!! :D

It looks nothing like 2K9... And that's the same ovie model, just on his back. EA's player models look like a cross between the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man. They have calves that are twice as big as their heads!!
Wait 'till we get more pictures tomorrow... Actually, more importantly, wait until we get videos of the game in motion. Still pictures tell you nothing about gameplay or graphical fidelity.

The player models look better, it still has pretty much the same visual style than 2k9 though, really if it weren't for the better player models I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. EA's models have more polygons, and obviously its a matter of opinion but EA's title is a more impressive looking game from a visual standpoint.

i hope your talking about 09 to 2k9? and not 10 to one screenshot of 2k10. 2k9 and 09 both looked pretty damn good. EA just has a more polished look to it.

I hope the goalies actually move like they should using the newer goaltending styles. I find the goalies play more of a stand up style which, for one example, is why they stretch one pad out and fall backwards when they get beat deep in their crease. Really, they should drop that pad and push with the other skate towards that particular post. I think the goalies are decent but I would like to see them utilize the newer styles.
Not a great video but I rarely see this type of movement or save in 2k9.

Both really, though it really is a moot arguement as it comes down to personal preference in visual aesthetics. Not saying either look bad, in fact I like the model improvements in that shot alot, at least players in 2k10 appear to be proportional this year.

Yeah, Brodeur refused to shake his hand when the series ended.

Ok, so now we can hold the stick of an opponant, can we get a penality for that? I sure hope so.
Savoie06
July 22nd, 2009, 12:11 PM
Uh, can't tell for sure if he's holding his stick, but doesn't look as though the Calgary player is trying for a stick lift. It could also just be one handed dekes have been added or a protect the puck feature. Heck maybe all have been added.

Lecavalier has his hand closed on the stick of an opponant, if a ref sees him, he could get a penality, so I hope they add that as well as the possibility of protecting the puck with one hand or one hand stick control or whatever is this feature.
