I know, I'm all giddy right now. Great to see VC/2K turning this series around.

Wow, I was sure that I'd be getting NHL 10 this year but it looks like 2k did the impossible and made my beloved 2K9 better. I don't care what any of you say, NHL 2K9 had fantastic gameplay despite the lack of options and it seems that the gameplay has now been refined and the options have been restored. That's all the game needed and this looks like an assured purchase on the PS3 for me. Hope to play some of you PS3 glitchers soon.

I agree. 2k9 was stiff but fun. As a matter of fact we had a mean 4 on 4 going last night till about 2:30 or 3am.

I couldn't agree more, 2K9's game play keeps me playing to this very day and all 2K10 really needed is all the things missing from 2K8, anything above that is just a bonus for me. I like all the bonus's and tweaks I've seen so far in the 2K10's photo's and video's.

The one thing I didn't like was the black highlight circle in off line play something I think is just wrong but it won't bother me because I play 99% of the time online.

So I'm looking forward to 2K10!!

2K9 was great except the stiff controls, clipping issues, and terrible goalies. Sorry, but after 2K8 the goalies were a big disappointment.

Forgot to mention the awful tripping penalties and animations!

Hey, I thought I was the only one who still enjoyed playing 2k9?

Seriously, 2k9 was, no is fun and I think it got a bum rap overall. Like most games it has its issues but the good, for me, always outweighed the bad.

From what I've seen in the pics and vids of 2k10 it looks as though they are building on the solid foundation that 2k9 built, and that is a very good thing.

I'm still playing 2K9, when I can. VC did a good job establishing a core to build around. And after watching the video preview, which showed some actual gameplay, it does look like they are doing good work building off of that core and improving the game even more. I can't wait.

As I've stated before, I prefer 2k8 over 2k9 but that's ancient history. It appears as though 2K has brought some important features back, improved some others and added a few. Now, if the glitches are significantly reduced and franchise mode actually works, I believe this edition has a chance to be very successfull and bring back a real level of competition with EA. If that happens, then both games are likely to continue to get better and better. From what we've read and seen so far, you have to feel optimistic. I must admit that I wasn't so sure 2K could bounce back but it appears as though they have.

VC will get it right, but you cant turn something over in a year or so. It takes a few years before you are where you want to be. Same goes for their baseball game. Imo, they put a nice foundation in that game.

When you get a new video game to develop in 1 year, there is going to be stuff that they just couldnt get in in time. Its not like they can just take a year off with the money they have to pay for the license and what not.

We have seen this with Madden. They are trying to get it right, but in the mean time, you get crappy games. Though, for them its been since 2005. lol

Bingo. I just recently picked up MLB 2k9 and find it to be a solid game that can be built off of. I hadn't picked up a baseball game since mvp 05 and was quite impressed with what I found in 2k9. Judging by the forum responses there is no doubt that the baseball purists were, shall we say, less than enthused, much in the same way us hockey purists had our share of misgivings with this year's NHL game. But, for me I found NHL 2k9 to be a solid building block just like this year's baseball.

Always consider motivation, gentlemen. How important is it for EA to improve with no 2K football? How important is it for 2K to improve when anybody with an XBox who wants to play baseball has no alternative. 2K had to at least try to make its hockey game better. Viva la competition!!!!!

I can see why the purists of both sports were less than enthused. With the cost of games, especially on these yearly sports games (too much for a yearly game, IMO), people want the game to be good, so they feel like their money was well spent. But, so many people seem to have failed to notice what they were buying: a first year effort from a new development team that didn't have a full development cycle to make the game. But for those of us who do see and understand that, it's easy to see what they have started, and will continue to build upon in the future.

VC is a very good development studio, IMO, but even they can't make a great sports game in a very limited amount of time. That's why 2K10 will be so important for both hockey and baseball. This year should give people a much better indication of where each series is going. Will either game match the quality and polish of VC's basketball games or football games of the past? I doubt it, but they should be much, much closer than they were with their 2K9 offerings of baseball and hockey. But, as always, we will have to wait and see. More gameplay videos, and a demo can't come soon enough.

B Dub is right on everything said. I was stoked when I heard they finally dropped Kush and put Visual Concepts in charge. They should have done this years ago, and I think Take Two waited too late to make this decision. I was not expecting VC to recreate both products in a first time effort, and they took the right steps to begin with. In both NHL2K9 and MLB2K9, VC's first motivation was simple. To create a new gameplay engine to build off of. They wanted to make this engine their own, that way, they can create a game that they know and understand.

You see, Kush Games has been piling on two engines that they never originally created. The baseball game was originally developed by Blueshift and I think the NHL was still based off of Treyarch. Kush never once built their own engine or code. they simply kept adding upon it, and as you could tell, things started to become less and less stable. Kush had some great innovative ideas, but it's like taking someones product and recreating it.

Visual Concepts got the hard part out of the way. They built their engines and now the other stuff can get some attention. It was of no surprise to me that the franchise modes were left untouched. However, I honestly feel that we will see some great revisions and a much more stable product. After all, this is the company that created NBA2K and NFL2K, and their abilities as a developer is far more credible than Kush or anyone else. As I told the MLB folks, keep an eye on NHL2K10, as this is a very important offering that will give real vision on how the next MLB game will turn out. The dropping of Kush Games will show its real potential, and finally, all 2K Sports games will finally feel like it belongs in the same publisher. The one problem between the two developers, was they did not feel like they belonged together. Everything will now be more home and streamlined.

That achievement was in 2K9. It had to do with the team up online play.

Win at home in front of a sold out arena.

I like a lot of the new achievements they're offering but this one has caught my attention the most. It looks as though in the new franchise mode if we're not succeeding or giving the fans something to root for in will be directly related in our attendance. I love this level of realism and, hopefully, depth!

I like how they are naming achievements after the teams. That's neat. And I see an achievement for the zamboni mini game again, so it's still there.
