I have several wishes, many of which I am sure you have heard, and some I have certain you have not.

Most important: Legacy-related questions

1.-Recruiting is AWESOME, but could be better. When I send an assistant coach to the game, it doesn't help much. Perhaps he could give a detailed ability assessment, rather than statistics. I would also like to see an "overall potential" rating. So some recruits would be projects, while others would be good, but not have much room to grow.

2.-I would also like to see more of a disparity among players. The difference between the number 1 and 400 is only 10 points. Perhaps there should be a more startling disparity from 1-10, and then a dropoff.

3.-DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH. I would really, really, really, like to see this. Some players, rated lower, are diamonds in the rough. When I have a good assistant coach, he may tip me off to this. It would add a new intrigue to recruting with a smaller school if , occassionally, I would find a 1 or 2 star player who came in with a 79 rating because, through my dilligent recrutiing, I discovered a diamond in the rough.

4-Need to be able to edit players NAMES and POSITIONS during career legacy. Not attributes, just names and positions.

5-For those simulating gamers, assistant coaches should recommend your "coach settings" depending on your personnel.

6-A rating for how much being "closely guarded" detracts from shooting percentage. There are many jumpshooters who are deadly when open, but horrible when guarded. Thsi would be a good way to distinguish players based on ability. I mean, Michael Jordan was not one of the best jump shooters, but he could shoot with someoone all over him.

7--Improved post play. When I post up, I would love to use the right analog stick to manuever in the post.

8--SPACING. this part is difficult, but it seems players are too close. It only takes the guard 1/2 second and two steps to get to the post and double down. Then, by the time the pass goes back outside a quick defender gets back. This NEVER happens in the NCAA that quickly. Once a player commits to doubleteam, he must CHANGE direction before getting back outside. Perhaps this can be fixed with spacing, and perhaps by better using momentum in the way a player moves.

9--More on recruiting. The one thing I think this game DESPERATELY needs is a recruits response to me. So, when I "Scout" a recruit, I should send him a letter, like I would if i were a college coach. I would receive teh same basic info as this year, but I would also receive the recruits questionairre, which indicates his interest. This would provide the realism of a player simply responding that he is not interested, is definitely interested, is very interested, or is waiting on other offers, etc. .This would more narrowly focus recruiting and avoid having 30 targets out there because all I know is the top five schoosl and an interest meter that does not mean much.

10--More on recruiting. I would like to be able to call my current recruits as often as NCAA rules allow. The recruits then, along with the interest meter, can tell me what they are thinking etc. . .

11--More on gameplay-- I would like to see a better fast break. Specifically, I would like the option for HOW I will run my fast break. There are several options. For example, some teams allow the dribbler to brign the ball up court and some teams bring the point guard down to the wing for an outlet and release teh shooting guard.

12--THREE POINT SHOOTERS WHEN OPEN. This is importnat. When a three-poitn shooter is open, and when I pass him the ball, he should step up to the line to receive the pass, ready to shoot. This would avoid the awkward lag and provide a remarkably realistic experience.

13--Finaly, very important note on recruiting. To combine much of what I said, I would love to see some more personal appeal. Some recruits are dead set on schools because they were childhood fans, or grew up there. So, when I coach Iowa St., it would be GREAT to have, occassionally, teh number 7 overally player fill out his quesitonairre and be dead set on attending my school. Likewise, you listed each recruits three desires, but on the questionairre, or during a phone call, the recruit may respond with what is missing: "coach, I like your school, but it is so far from home . . . "

14Also, my coaching prestige should follow me to a smaller school. If I coach Duke to a national power, and then I transfer to Dayton, I should retain the same prestige, and my school should get a boost. Along the same lines, we MUST have an indication of school prestige, preferably a rating from 1-100, because 1-5 stars does not allow as much variance. Also, a 1-100 rating provides enough room that the rating can move during the year. So, if I crack the top-10, win the conference tourney, etc. . .

15--One more recruiting note. This one would be AWESOME. There should be recruiting services, and I should have a recruiting coordinator. I should get reports about which players are hot, overrated, etc. . . This more dynamic aspect would add even more.

so basically, as you said, great job on recruiting SEGA, but...

lets take it to the next level.
1. get rid of "go see player's game"
2. replace it with "head coach visit, Asst coach visit, head coach call and asst coach call" like the end of season stuff, you would need to adjuest the # of points it takes probably though which you should do anyway, like 3 for a head coach call and 1 for an asst coach call...cuz a coach can make 50-60 calls a week if he wants, but can only goto 1 or 2 states a week probably...
3. Have each player return an email saying what his position is after each call, by position i mean i love your school...go away loosers...stuff like that...
4. it would be a good idea if you do this to have a folder for each player in the email list...maybe they should even be in subfolders by position or state or something...

im at work right now, so ill get back on this when i get home...

cool thanks for the numbers...i will add more thoughts later

1. the detailed ability assessment is key. Maybe they could gear each coach to a playing style, and you could pick a coach by playing style, then when recruiting you get his ability in the stat, like close shots, 3s, +/- the coaches ability to judge talent. But more than one would be good too so each coach should have a primary focus and 3 secondary focuses. So you could have one coach who was a PG perimeter player who you send to scout your guards and SF if that’s the kinda SF you want, and Patrick Ewing as your In the Paint coach who scouts your Cs PFs and low post SFs.
2. I have been saying something similar to this for years. In my view they need to add a ton more attributes, and they need to set them so that it is impossible to reach 99. they have kind of done that this year…most guys will graduate before they reach 99…so that’s cool! But more attributes will create more unique player types. In college all but the top 10 should truly be specialists. If he can shoot a 3 he definitely cant dunk the ball even on a fast break. And if a center starts shooting 3s he should not be able to do better than 1 for 20 or something…even that’s too high…
3. This is a great idea too, adds intrigue. But again I think too much emphasis is put on a guys overall stat…if as said in 2 things were spread out more, then you would actually still have a lot of guys clumped in the 70-80 range…I like the idea of the top 10 being separated and as I said the way you separate them is by having them be well rounded players as opposed to the rest of the field. I think too though that a diamond in the ruff, is usually a mediocre player who just fits into the team better than any other freshman that year because he compliments the strengths and weaknesses of the other players…
4. this would be cool…my idea for this has always been, that they need to let us see the list of names either A: through an auto complete option on the typewriter page, or B: With a long list like when you create school names. Also, we should be able to adjust appearance. I am not personally into tattoos and stuff, but hair styles are cool…frows and dreadies…but id rather see gameplay tweeked..
5. another great idea. I play EA NCAA FB and have been requesting this since the dawn of time…at least there you can fish through and find a teams rankings like 1st in NCAA in rushing so you know you gotta defend the run…so maybe before each game you sim a coaches page pops up with the coaches sliders, and rankings for the other team, and a few blurbs from the assistant coaches.

1. I agree. All I ever do is start the game, pause, go to the substitution menu and check out my recruit's ratings!

2. Yeah, I would like this more complex system. And before anyone screams about how complicated it would be, REMEMBER, there is a slider you can use to delegate responsibilities to assistant coaches.

3. I whole-heartedly agree with the return e-mail point. It would help.

4. I have a different (new) idea regarding how to organize recruits--by interest level. When I first scout a player, and receive his return e-mail, I would rank "how interested" I am on a scale of 1-5. Then, I can quickly browse to my 5's (the players in whom I am most interestd). This would be much better than limiting my number of targets. The players who don't interest me would be in the one category, and I could change that later, if I wanted.

I agree with your idea--more varied player types. There SHOULD BE 2 star players whose 3pt ratings are 41-42. But of course those players are two star because they can do nothing else. Rather than just knowing he is a "spot-up-shooter," after sending the assistant coach to the game, we would receive an e-mail that says "this guy can absolutely shoot the lights out--he is one of the best I have ever seen. But, . . . " Instead of what we get now, he had 11 pts. That tells me little about HOW good of a shooter he is. On similar lines, there should be players who are defense-oriented, and then those who are defensive specialisits. Some players are gloves, and others are just better on D than on O.

GREAT IDEA.

SEGA SHOULD DEFINATELY TAKE SOME PAGES OUT OF EA SPORTS

BOOK. ALOT OF POSTERS ON THIS BOARD PROBABLY LIKE NCAA FB.

THOSE THAT I KNOW WHO DO SAY THAT THEY WOULD PLAY

LEGACY MODE AND SIM JUST TO GET TO THE OFF SEASON RECRUITING

PART. I FOR ONE LIKE HOW YOU FIND THAT THE RECRUIT MAYBE GOT

TOO MUCH LOVE FROM THE STOP WATCH WHEN HE'S REALLY SLOWER.

AND HOW SOME COULDN'T MATCH THEIR MAX BENCH PRESS.

IF SEGA ADDS THINGS LIKE THIS, IT WOULD MAKE THE RECRUITING

THAT MUCH MORE ADDICTIVE AND THERFORE MEAN BETTER BUSINESS

FOR THEM B/C MORE PEOPLE WILL WANT THE GAME.
