I think I'm one of the few people who prefer the old play-calling system from NFL2K-NFL2K3. I like the play being shown on the field itself, so you can see at a glance what will be going on. I like that it showed the play in the correct spot between the hash marks for your next play, and how it accurately showed where receivers should be making their cuts.

This year, though, I don't like the menus as much as previous years. The previous menus from yesteryear was innovative to me, and now they've gone like everyone else.

Maybe next year an option between the two, so when playing a friend at your house, you can switch to the traditional.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the old playcalling system as well, but I like the new one better. It still shows you on the field, it's just smaller. It lets you see more at a time and let's you cycle through them faster. Plus, hitting a button to select a play is easier than "pointing and aiming" at a play.

Well, I'll admit, I hated pointing to a play to pick it. But I'd like to see a compromise between the two.

I know that technically the field is still shown, but is very small and somewhat not useful to me.

When I first played the game, I didn't like the new play calling, but NOW I really enjoy it. It integrates with the audible system really nicely.

Really old like the first one where when you picked the coaches play it was whatever was on the "B" button.... something like that. Not highlighted for everyone to see! And I think the coaches picks are dumber this year...."I could kick a field goal from here no prob why do you want me to punt.... F U coach!...I"m going for it hurray!!"

This one is decent actually just fix the coaches pick problem I emphasized in the paragraph above.

You can hold the button for the play you want to pick, then move to a different set of plays to fool your buddy.

Bring back the OLD PLAYCALLING SYSTEM! It was so much better looking at six differ plays at one time instead of scrolling constantly to find that special play. What was so hard about pointing at a formation/play? I do like the sub-in-formation in this year though. Maybe 2k5 will merge the playcalling systems into one. Take that Madden!

That's what I'd like to see, a merge. Something to please both parties. Although just the option for one or the other would be great.

I really don't have a preference. They were both cool to me. This is one is more suited to longtime Madden gamers who recently converted. Maybe that is why it is the way it is, because VC knew that alot of Madden heads would convert. Hmmmmmmm!

There's no 'getting over' the old playcalling system. I'm not foaming at the mouth to get it back. Just trying to have a decent conversation on these boards than what usually shows up.

I like the new system better. The old one would of been ok, if your opponent did't get to look at everthing you were doing. Now I know you could bluff, but still if you or your opponent has a keen eye, you knew what play he was running. With the new "Maddenized" one, its simpler but yet they still kept choosing what your line does seperate from the db's and lb's(which is actaully what i like best about the Sega play calling system). The new on the fly subs using the one buttons is also a very good addition to the system. Just my opinion though.

I guess I gotta put in my vote for the old playcalling system. To me, that feature alone is what really seperated the 2K series apart from Madden and their tired an tru playcalling system.

Now I dont mind this years switch-up, but I too would prefer an option that allows you to choose what system you like better. I had no problem with "pointing" to what play I was choosing BUT I liked the system better on the Dreamcast that allowed you to hit down (to go into playbook) and use the D-pad (left or right) to cycle through plays. THAT was a hell of alot easier than always using the analog to hi-lite a play.
