I had the same problem. I found out that starting and doing a legacy without user profiles and user settings takes care of my freeze problem. You should try it. Note you have to delete all profiles and settings, and then restart legacy.

I have similar problems with freezing both in legacy and exhibition modes...The only titles that ever freeze on me are Visual Concept ones, I've been playing Halo 2 just as much as College Hoops and haven't had a problem to date. Before that I was playing FIFA 2005 night and day and never had one problem. It's not the box, but the software in my opinion.

Mine hasn't frozen, either. I got an Xbox when it came with Sega GT 2002 and JSRF (whenever that was, it's been so long) and it still plays everything fine, which is more than I can say for the stupid PlayStation 2.

I HAVE tried to start a legacy w/o personal settings or user name and STILL freezes, and I don't want to hear about the older x-box problem because IF that is the case , then why don't I have this problem when I play NFL 2K5????

It's not the game's fault that it freezes.....and it shouldn't be....it is YOUR xbox that needs to be taken care of.

My game freezes. I exchanged it for a new one. Still have the same problem. Sega should have taken care of this prior to release. They were having alot of problems that's why a release date could not be confirmed for November. The game freezes to load cut scenes. Don't turn it off! It'll come back in 10-20 seconds. It just lags.

Perhaps this game is calling data differently than your other games. It may be reading across your disc in a way that stresses the laser. As far as it freezing DURING a game - try disabling all music. Disabling commentary should help too. Also disable all instant replays (you can still replay it yourself via the menu). The Xbox definitely scans the disc during these 3 instances more than anything else (in my experience). It's seeking out the appropriate audio tracks. 2K4 would hang slightly sometimes during these as well.
Clean your laser in your Xbox. It may work, but really the parts used in the earlier models of the Xbox are just not as good quality as the newer versions. Go to your local EB Games store and ask someone there. Hopefully they know enough about it to satisfy your curiousity. I know they would love to sell you a new Xbox, cleaning kit, etc. so watch out.
A friend of mine had this issue when he bought a used older model. This freezing problem occurred on Project Gotham Racing 2 for him. When he got a newer Xbox, he no longer had the issue.
***Remeber that if you trade your old Xbox towards a new Xbox to get your saved games off the hard drive!*** My friend forgot. :(

When I was young and losing videogames I would just turn them off and start again. Now that I am older and better my videogame shuts off instead.
I feel your pain, I too am currently up to copy #2 of this $20 game, meaning I'm at $40. I could of just splurged the extra $9.95 and bought from EA, who have never given me any problems. Now I know why this game is half the price of the competitors and why SEGA went out of business. I guess the CPU just cannot stand being tied 38-38 at the half against LIU. So it froze during the halftime show. And I love the static noise too, I just pretend that theyare realy loud thundersticks.

My copy of the PS2 games that have been released work flawlessly.
You people need to learn to take better care of your consoles.

I bought a used X-box, and my copy of College Hoops 05 freezes, but it's only about 1 in 20 or 30 times I play it. Most of the time it runs fine.
