Headline: New coach hired at AA&M
This morning, finally, after many months of searching, the AD at AA&M has finally named Lee Pettway the new head coach. After an abismal season last year (6-21), former head coach Bobby Durst was fired. The big question right now is, will this new coach be able to help the dogs to a better record? The AD has signed him to a three year contract, hoping this year he can bring the bulldogs to at least .500. Lee Pettway did not hold a live interview today, the AD has said that this coach firmly believes, "actions speak louder than words." Well we'll see his action in their first game in the Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic November 11th, vs. Birmingham Souther. They definitely aren't favorites to win, but if they can pull out a win it'll be a great way to start the season off.[/b]

AA&M Loses a heart-breaker
Alabama A&M(0-1) loses to BSC(1-0)
Final score 65-63
Steve Berthuame(sp?): And to our favorite college basketball analysts, Jay Bilas, and **** Vitale.
Jay Bilas: Well Dickie V, it was a close game but BSC was able to pull out a win
Dickie: Yeah, it was a close game throughout, the score was going back and forth, back and forth. But BSC was able to take the win.
Jay Bilas: From what I saw out there, I've concluded that AA&M lost to horendous rebounding.
Dickie: Definitely, they got beat on those boards BAD, 14 to 31.
Jay Bilas: And then it was much worse with the offensive boards, 3 t o11 there.
Dickie: Yep, the the second chance points were at two different poles there, AA&M only got TWO horrible, but BSC fought their way to 14 second chance points.
Jay Bilas: I also notice, HORRIBLE defense...both of these teams feild goal percentages in the 50s. But there were quite a few bright spots on for AA&M, first thing I saw is amazing three-point shooting. They went nine for seventeen tonight.
Dickie: And definitely they have two up-and-coming players out there, number 20 Rickey Ricketts. He lit the game up with 32 points, and 7 of 9 threes. And a fairly unknown point-guard by the name of Obie Trotter, 12 points, 10 assists, and only 3 TOs
Jay Bilas: Well it was a close game, hard fight. Just the type of game I like to see.
Dickie: Yeeaah, Jay. Back to you Steve.

Press Conference
Reporter 1: Coach Pettway, after that tough loss a Birmingham, what do you think you'll do against your next opponents, Pennsylvania?
Coach: Well, we have two things on our minds right now, rebounding and defense. We played well offensively, but defensively we were struggling. Next question.
Reporter 2: One question on everyone's mind is how long do you think you're going to stay here at AA&M?
Coach: Well, I like a lot of our players, I see a lot of potential. I was signed to a 3-year contract, and I'd like to coach it out. Minimum two years. There's only a few places I'd like to coach at, this being of them so I may be here for a while.
Reporter 1: What's your goal for your season(s) here at AA&M?
Coach: Well this season, I think we can win at least 15-18 games, and go a few round into the conference tournament. Next season I think with good recruiting we can go to the NCAA.
Reporter 2: The guys you started tonight..do you think you'll be keeping them as your starters?
Coach: Nothing for sure, I think I'll move Ogbara to starting power-forward or starting small-forward. The only thing I can promise you is that Obie Trotter and Rickey Ricketts will be starters as long as they don't get any injuries--and they will be playing a lot of minutes.

Blowout!
AA&M(1-1) over Pennsylvania(0-1)
69-52
[Sportscenter music plays]
Don: Hello, Don Simmons and Jay Bilas coming to you live at the post game show, live. Right here in Pennsylvania after the AA&M victory.
Jay: Hi.
Don: Well Jay, tonight's game wasn't even close. AA&M came out of the gates blazing.
Jay: Definitely, what I liked about AA&M tonight was their rebounding and defense, the rebound game was even for both teams--25 going each way. But AA&M held Penn to 24-60 shooting. While they went 32-56.
Don: And how 'bout those two guys, Obie Trotter and Rickey Ricketts?
Jay: Yeah, two up and comers. Obie Trotter went out and gave us another double-double with 14 points and 15assists. And one of the best offensive players I've seen in this young season Rickey Ricketts. He went off in the second half, after not playing any of the first half with a sore ankle he injured, he went off in the second with 15 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals.
Don: Well tonight, Jay, AA&M was firing on all cylinders.
Jay: Yeah, if they can keep playing like this, maybe they will get those 18 wins.
Don: Well look out for their next game, it's still to be decided. Hopefully it'll be fun.
Jay and Don: Back to you Steve

Alabama A&M(2-1) over Niagra(1-1), 92-90
[Sportscenter music plays]
Stuart: Well it was a night for upsets and blowouts. Telling the boys from the men.
Steve: Yes and our own college hoops analysists have the scoop for ya.
Stuart: Here's Jay Bilas, and Dicky V.
[/b]Dicky V: Thanks Steve, yes, last night was a great night for up and coming teams, we're going to focus on one of my favorite up and coming teams, and some of my favorite up and coming players.
Jay Bilas: Yes, he's talking about AA&M.
Dicky V: They pulled a big upset this weekend over Niagra, and I think these guys can win their conference and sneak in to the NCAA tournament, with up to a 14 seed. They're loaded with talent in Rickey Ricketts, and Obie Trotter. Not to mention that great bench with Ogbara.
Jay Bilas: I agree with you on the fact that they do have loads of talent. But I do not see them makign it into the NCAA let alone a 14 seed. They have the ability to get around 18 wins, but no more. They have the talent, I just don't think they can use it.
Dicky V: Well Jay, I think they can. Did you see them last night. That kid Rickey Ricketts baby! He was on fire! 41 points! and Obie Trotter 15 assists!
Jay Bilas: I'm not saying they don't have the talent. They just haven't developed it yet I give them at least two years before making the NCAA.
Dicky V: No, they have the talent! They can play tight D, when needed [laughs], and they can shoot LIGHTS OUT! And in my opinion one of the top 25 players in the country. And they can work the boards, last night they went out and crashed for 42 boards, 15 offensive, which turned into 20 extra chance points.
Jay Bilas: Well, they need to work on their free-throw shooting, it was hurendous. 9-19, they can and could do so much better.
Dicky V: Looks like we're out of time here but one more thing about this team. They can shoot the trifecta. They shor better from three than from the charity stripe, going 10 of 16.
Jay Bilas: Back to you Stuart.
Key Players:
AA&M - Rickey Ricketts, 41 points
AA&M - Obie Trotter, 15 assists

Preseason NIT
Pregame Show:
Jay:Look where they've made it, all the way to the third-round of the preseason NIT. So we have AA&M against G. Washington. Both teams have pulled off some upsets to make it here. G. Washington beating
(7)Wake Forest and AA&M beating Niagra. Well Dicky V, I don't think there's anyway A&M can go any farther than here.
Dicky V: Well Jay, I think they have a chance. If they can rebound well, play better defense, and continue to shoot like this they have a real good chance.
Jay Bilas: Well it looks like it's time for tip-off so let's head down to the game.
First Half Report:
First half was very lopsided, at one point Washington had the lead by 15. But then at close to the end of the first half things started heating up. First Obie Trotter made a three, then Ricketts made one from WAAAY back there. It didn't end there, A&M got a steal and ran it back, pass to Ricketts wide-open three ball, then another steal, another three. And at the end of the half, Ricketts drills one more three to make the game 42-43 at the half. This one's going to be exciting.
Second Half Report:
Well, what'd you expect Rickey Ricketts starts the second half of the game with a big three pointer to give them the lead 45-42. Then 2 minutes later, it's Ricketts with ANOTHER three, this kid is on fire, with 10 minutes left in the second half he has 37 points! Looks like we may have the next Iverson here score is 52-46, A&M. But Just like that George Washington goes on an 11-2 run and bring the score back to 63-62, but A&M still has the lead. Ricketts drains another three the score, 68-64, A&M still ahead 5:34 left on the clock. But A&M began to fall apart, giving up three baskets without one of their own, score is 68-74, George Washington. Then after a pair of free-throws made by Trotter, Ricketts sinks another three! That's fifty points for him, the score is 73-76, George Washington. Then Ricketts ties the game at 78-78, with a three from even beyond NBA range! He has 10 threes! This kid is amazing! And to talk about pressure with under a minute left, he drains two threes to bring them to one point of George Washington. Then they're dwon by three..under 30 seconds left, you'd imagine Ricketts would be firing up a three, then he gets doubled, and he passes it to an unknown, who's barely seeing any playing time this tournament. Jeff Martin gets the ball, rises up, shoots the three, it's goods! Tie game with 23.2 seconds left.
Trotter steals it with 7 second left! He get's intentionally fouled! Inbounded to Ricketts just inside the corner 3-point line, he shoots...IT'S IN WITH 1.9 seconds left, score 89-87, A&M may have pulled out a HUGE upset tonight. The full-court prayer doesn't go, ALABAMA A&M HAS ONE THE GAME!!!
P.O.T.G.
Rickey Ricketts, 61 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists
A&M better get ready to face number eight in the country, (3-0) Arizona
PS. Sorry if this seems really unrealistic, I'll probably lower the time to about 11 or 12 minutes. I'm playing 14 minutes, All-American, no sliders.

Great game, i can see how some people would think its unrealistic but the kid was in the zone. Hopefully you can keep the mo' in your favor going against 'Zona.

I lowered the time to 12 minutes per half, and lowered my sliders a bit. But we have a tough up coming schedule, next we have Arizona, then Georgia. We're 3-1 right now but no surprise if we end up 3-3 :P
