I dont like using the simple "Quick Isolation" and "Quick Post Up" plays all the time, but I'm not sure of what other plays to replace the "quick" plays with. Any advice would be nice...

I like that pass-to-SG-of-the-pick-play...
I forgot what it is called, but what happens is in the middle of the court, the shot guard runs past a pf pick to recieve a pass from a pg on the left of the basket for an open shot.
What I like to do, if the opponent pf or sf rotated over to help out with the sg, I kick it out to his man for an open shot. Best play to use in any difficulty, but its takes some practice...

I really like the "Lob Option"
I dont know if it works like this, but my SF is always open for the 18 footer.

It really depends on what team you're using. Choose plays that benefit from the strengths of your offense.
Choose plays that fit accordingly to the 5 players thats on the floor! :)

Since i run with the Mavs, i try to find plays that get some movement going (dive cuts would be a nice addition) and gets Dirk out by the arc. You can find a play in one of the Motion sets that will get your 'go to' player the ball (Motion One:Pop and Clear PF is a good one for me).
Some advice if you set up your off/def sets: change your settings in the Coaching settings menu. I think it defaults to Auto w/o message, change it to Manual w/w/o message. That way your team will run the last called play every time it sets up on either side of the court. What it will avoid is calling a specific play and on the next possession your team is setting up in Quick Isolation (which sucks 'cause you lose three or four seconds getting your guys in place to run your play, at that point you have about 10-12 seconds to get off a shot, not a fun way to learn an offense if you ask me).
Anyway...

Depending on what team im using the Lob Option is always a given. I usually stick with only 2 quick plays and the rest are tailored to my teams design! The Quick Isolation and Quick Post-Up happen to be the only two quick plays i use. By the way setting up a quick isolation play wouldnt take that much time off the clock in the halfcourt if the players you're trying to isolate was already in postion. The floor is cut into two halves, from the top of the circle to the center of the baseline, when dealing with that play and its up to you to have that player being iced in the correct half. Other than that just call the play before you inbound the ball for minimum clock usage! :)
