UNC sucks how could they lose to an uknown california team. they are now 1-1 but now dukes ahead of them in polls. so duke is 1-0 who owns?? DUKE DOES. they don't have a ball-hog like mcants. they don't have the best players (not really) but they have THE BEST coach krzeski (i know that is wrong), i live in N.C. so i'm no bandwagoner and hated UNC forever.

so to settle this once and for all which is better, DUKE or UNC???

Duke won tonight against Michigan State. It was a bad game for Michigan cause the refs were lop-sided in my opinion. I do think that the game should have been better taken care of though cause Michigan came back and lost only because they didn't use their brains. I don't think Duke will win this year if the refs do their job properly. We'll see how it works though.

Ewing is a better 2 guard. He has been pushed in the point guard role. Duke has no true floor general out there.

i juz wanna point out sumtin...the hardest non-conference team Duke has to face this year is Michigan ST.(20th) and they won, in fact Michigan St is the only non-confernce team in there schedual in the top 25 while UNC has 3 which is not alot more but those teams r Iowa(17th)-WON that one, Kentucky(10th)-WON that one and Conneticut(7th)-Havent played yet....so Duke might have the better record of the 2 teams but that doesnt mean theyre better plus when March Madness comes along whos gonna have the upper hand on bein prepared for talented teams that can go deep in the tourney UNC or Duke hmmmmmmm....yes we lost to santa clara and i cant really give a reasonable explanation why other than santa clara doesnt look half bad this year and we didnt have felton....but if duke loses to a team that has no chance i wanna see ur excuse why unc sucks then :wink:

It's Santa Clara idiot, not Santa Clarre, the only real competition Duke has had was MSU, and that was at Cameron Indoor, and ya'll played poorly against them. Early losses don't mean much, last year we beat eventual Nat'l Champs UCONN, didn't seem to affect them much. The sad thing is WE LOST TO SANTA CLARRE!!! and we're again ahead of you in the rankings.

P.S. While the high powered Valpo team is impressive (sarcasm) I don't think beating it should boost your confidence. Lets look at our schedules so far

We agree on a lot of things, but not this. What you just said is precisely what's wrong with a lot of players. They learn to drive and do silly stuff with the ball BEFORE they ever work on the jump shot, because dunks and circus moves are how you get respect in basketball, and it's stupid. Fun-duh-mental-s are called that for a reason, if you cannot shoot the jumper, you are worthless against a team that's going to guard you tough. I am by no means disregarding the ability to penetrate as a skill, it's obviously important. However, I don't see why JJ is being hated on. He does exactly what his team requires him to do, step out and hit big shots to stretch the defense. Take 5 older guys who know how to hit the jumper and pass the ball, match them up against a bunch of younger players who just want to drive and score by themselves, and we all know who will win that game. JJ may not be a good defender now, but he has time to improve. I'd much rather build a player around an excellent jump shot than a strong drive.

I say this as someone who hates Duke. But there are way too many "all me" players who just want to drive, and not learn other skills.

No, my point is that a players ability to make crazy driving plays for a dunk is ALWAYS (not sometimes), always talked about before his fundamental skills.

It's pretty pointless anyway, if you were paying attention you would know that I have little respect for JJ's game, other than his shot, and would take McCants any day over JJ.

Back to the thread. I'm an Illini fan, but UNC is so much better than Duke this year. It might be a close game in Cameron, but in UNC, Duke would get absolutely railed.

As for Duke, they beat Michigan State by seven points, I don't recall that as a lot. They beat Clemson by 8 and Miami by 9. Let's see here... how many opponents have they played that are ranked now? Ah, yes. ONE. Michigan State, and it was AT Duke.

Duke is the most overrated team in the top 10, they have no quality road wins except -maybe- NC State, which was a close game against an unranked opponent.

Thinking that the refs were paid off is just an obvious oversight on your part. Surely someone of your superior intellect would realize this. If you had actually watched the game, you would have realized that the Illini should have won without overtime, as they rebounded a shot that clearly hit the rim and were still called for a 24 second violation.

If Duke played Illinois right now, they would lose by 10 at home and 30-35 points in Champaign. They are outmatched at every position except the PF/C position, where I believe we've established that they are foul prone.
