The AD of Nicholls State, a small Thibodaux, Louisiana school has just announced the hiring of new basketball coach Daniel Sizemore. When asked for comment, the AD noted that the team had been struggling to stay at I-a level and was rated as the worst in hoops as far as RPI goes. In the press conference the question was asked, "Why hire Sizemore, some unknown who had never played college ball?" Which is what loyal fans and alums are asking. We all finally got our answer "We really had no other choice. We had a recommendation by one of our professors, followed up on it and figured out that this guy may be wet behind the ears but he knows basketball, especially on defense. I believe, given the right opprotunity and support, Daniel Sizemore can lead this team to an NCAA bid."
Coach Sizemore, however was more blunt. "When I was growing up in the South, no one cared about basketball. No one gave me a chance, due to my height, to make a difference in basketball. Now I have my chance, I'm tired of getting overlooked and people in this town, this state and this country will know me and my players. I promise this team will win, this year. This school has given me a chance to make a difference in kid's lives and to pump some Esteem into this school." On how Sizemore planned to improve this team he replied, "We have good shooters, and I'm confident in my defensive coaching. Of course without the grace of God and some help, we'd go nowhere."
That's it Nicholl's St. fans, wins or bust seems to be the motto for this years team, only time will tell if this huge gamble will pay off or if the direction of this school's athletic program will continue to go down the drain.

The season starts out on a good pace for Nicholls St. after a 81 -53 win pver Colgate in their presason tournament. Nicholls used an active defense and red hot shooting to stretch a 13 point half time lead. Nicholls shot 45 percent from the field, and was 13-20 from 3 point land. On the other hand, Colgate struggled in the first half and managed to shoot 39 percent from the field and 2-4 from three point land. The Nicholls State defense forced 14 turnovers. Stephan Fulton paced Nicholls with 24 points including 6 for 8 from downtown, He also had 6 rebounds.
Colgate was very disappointed with their performance, especially their perimeter defense. They were rated higher but once again, this is why they play the games. Randy Outlaw played a solid game, but only had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
When asked about the win coach Sizemore added, "Great way to start out a career, eh? I tell you what Fulton may have scored all those points, but without the play of point guard Dominic Taybron and his 8 assists, we would have no continuity on offense. The guy, who held our team together and really pushed the pedal to the metal on both ends was Causwell, our Senior shooting guard. " Sizemore also added, "He was undoubtedly our best player and showed it today with his 4 steals and 4 assists. Solid, solid player." So far so good from Thibodaux as Sizemore continues to prep his team for the next game of the tournament at Central Connecticut State. Final Score, Nicholls State 81 Colgate 53. Next game against Samford, a good offensive team, should be a shootout folks, stay tuned.

Stephan Fulton, who paced the Colonel's with his hot shooting, looks to have a breakout year.

The Colonel's game against the Samford Bulldogs, started out on a slow pace. The Colonel's battled off a slow start to beat the Bulldogs 69-67. Aaron Locie had 31 points for Samford, including a game tying 3 with a hand in his face with 22 seconds left to play. The Nicholls State shooters had a rough night going 6 for 19 from the arc, on the other hand, Samford, let by Locie's 9-14 from 3 point land, flourished. Wasn't too much excitement to report on either end outside of Locie for Samford. Both teams struggled with their offense, the only real bright spot on offense was ***mer, the explosive, undersized power forward had 14 points to lead the team. He had 4 explosive dunks as the offense seemed at times to cater for him. When coach Sizemore was asked about the offensive plan he replied, "well them Samford boys were in a 1-2-2 and I knew if i could put one guy at wing and one guy in the corner, the middle would pretty much be open, our point guard did a good job of finding him. I tell you what though, Locie is a heck of a shooter, I'm glad our boys woke up in time to pull this one out."
That was the feeling here in Connecticut, the offense was slow for most of the game on both sides, but with 2 seconds left and with their best player fouled out, they had one option left. They designed the perfect play for Stephan Fulton, he had isolation on his man but another man close enough to pass out to in case of trouble. There would be no need for that, as Fulmer pumped fake and saw his counterpart, Locie, fly in the air, he calmly dribbled past him and hit an open jumper. Samford wasn't able to counter and tried a 3/4 three that bounced off the rim. Nice finish to a slow game. Final Score Nicholls st. 69 Samford 67.

Game Leaders:
Locie (Samford) 31 pts and 7 boards
Taybron (Nicholls St.) 8 points, 11 assists, 5 steals.
Fulton (Nicholls St.) game winning shot with 2.2 seconds left

I dont wanna down your legacy or anything, but you're Nichols state and you beat Auburn?? plus your legacy posts are all about 3 lines long... sorry about the tone of this post, just defending this legacy, not trying to be mean...

just, those posts are unnecessary and dont help the atmosphere of the boards
