Ok - I've been pretty passive and 'lax' about this game but now I'm getting a bit frazzled with this game.
It would seem that the game would start with a pre-determined set of injuries. Get this:
Game starts, opening face off. The puck JUST hits the ice and we're ALL still in position around the circle and no one has even moved.
Suddenly, my defencemen has an "knee injury" and falls to the ice in pain. One second he's standing up and the next second he's down on the ice. What??? Can this be true? At this point, the puck has just touched the ice and no one has even touched it - I know this as I viewed the re-play several times. And as soon as the puck drops to hit the ice, the defenceman on the outter part of the circle goes down.
I exit the game and re-start several times and each time I restart this same thing happens to the same player. So I try to bench him, taking him completly off the ice and so he sits on the bench. I then start the game again and then guess what - bang, again I'm told he has the knee injury - but how? he's on the dam bench!!
Now that is a little bit of B.S if you ask me. So it would seem that before starting each game, the system already has a list of people that will receive injuries - whether you play them or not.
I really am starting to get a bit wrazzled about the crazy things the CPU can get away with compared to the human players. As this (and several other things) have never happend to the CPU player.

Actually I had a similiar experience. I was playing my season and vs NJ Roenick got a knee injury "Out for 2-4 months" so I was like f this I am not saving this game. Next time I played that same game vs NJ the exact same injury happened to a different player. Makes me think these injuries may be somewhat scripted.

Not to mention the frequency compared to other teams. This is getting old. Sega has a real problem here. Hope they fix it next year. It sure would be nice if Sega would at least comment on this to let us know what's up.
Someone told me you can cut down on injuries, by reducing CPU hit power and turning down the aggression meter. Problem is to turn aggression down you have to Switch sides on the team strategy screen. Doing this turns Challenge Mode off for the game. I obvously don't want to this for every game. Does anyone know if i turn aggression down for my first game if it well stay down for the rest of the season or if it is different for all teams?

Yes, turning that stuff down will help cut down injuries during gameplay - when you also lower the times you check other players.
However, this incident leads me to believe that there are injuries above and beyond anyone's control. :(

Xbox or PS2?
This is on the XBox.
Since this post, it's happened to me again, twice. Now almost all of my good players are all injured and gone for weeks

I agree. I tried all the suggestions listed in the forum and I still ended up with 7 starters out for at least 2 weeks by game 14.... 4 of 'em out for a month or more.
So, I restarted and turned injuries off. I don't like it, but it's no fun playing with half a team of minor leaguers for 2/3rds of the season.

So get this....I'm in the Stanley Cup finals. I'm Ottawa and I'm up 3-1 on Colorado. Here's a list of my injured players:
HOSSA
BONK
SPEZZA
HAVLAT
WARNER (Created player...about an 80 ranking)
DARCHE (Edited player...about a 78 ranking)
VOLCHENKOV
RACHUNEK
CHARA
REDDEN
LESCHYCHYN
This is all with NO hitting power....I had to go to the Free Agents last night and pick up like 5 players cause I didn't have enough in my lineup. It's really weird to see Shayne Corson in a Sens uniform! Good ole Jan Hlavac turned out as a good pickup, he was second star in game 4.
Thing that really irks me is that Radek Bonk was on a tear!!! He was surely the leading candidate for the Playoff MVP...but now all hope is lost on that...my only hope now is that Lalime will win it!
Injuries in this game suck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have it..but Flying Finn created an editor (FlyingFinn's Roster Editor v1.4) that can heal players and do all kinds of cool stuff. I think for PS2 you need action replay to use it:

OrangeAndBlack - are you checking lots? I have found that if you use your checks sparingly you won't bring on so many injuries. The forwards seem to get the biggest injuries but you shouldn't be checking with them like you would with the defence.
When I play, I have my hitting power and the CPU hitting power down to 1. However the human hitting power, I presume implies that it is how much damage your guys actually do. So in addition to that, I lower my aggression down to 1, avoid checking with my forwards and check sparingly with my defence. I can then have a game with no injuries. However should I decide to check constantly then I will incur injuries.
I will agree that even with all that said, injuries will still happen far to frequently.

Speaking of injuries. I'm playing the Habs in a franchise. I have had 2 players injured, because they strained something washing their truck. Anyone else have injuries that weren't even related to the hockey games?

My checking power is at zero, I rarely throw the big hits. I use the poke check a lot to poke the puck away and turn up ice quickly hoping for the odd man rush. All of my injuries are for a day or two (Except Chara), but the guys never seem to come back. Havlat has been injured for a 'day or two' since the first round, and has yet to play in any game beyond that first round (I'm in the cup finals-game 5). I try to play this game like real hockey (I've been playing all my life so I have a good idea of how to play), I don't always go for the big hit, because missing can take you out of position, which in this game can prove disasterous. To be succesfull in this game you have to treat it like real hockey...that I've learned....now if I could just figure out how to keep the boys healthy....hmm...maybe it's just that my training staff sucks...where's the functationality to fire staff when ya need it! lol
I dunno what to do, injuries are just slightly too ridiculous. After I beat the Avs in the cup final I'm gonna start over, on a harder level first off and with no injuries(Which I really don't like to do). We'll see how it turns out!

i was only 3-4 games into my season when i got ****ed about injuries so i just started over with no injuries on, i would never turn hitting power down, its fun to go nail guys, i hate playing online and stuff cause its on default settings and you go to check some guy and he just like moves an inch to the right then skates by you
