There was no control over that. That was a decision which came from the higher ups @ ABC. Remember Disney owns ABC. ESPN is a part of ABC. This was totally ABC'S doing. Just cause VC makes games for ESPN now, doesn't mean they get total control of programming, or tell ESPN what to do. I have seen though on ESPN2 them use 2k4 in a couple of their segments, when showing match-ups & key games for that week. Also ESPN runs Tracey Morgan commercials all day long.

SEE here people "EA" knows the only game out their that really give them a run for their money is NFL2k series hands down ...So what they know is that they better hurry up and shut them down as much as possible..
First off who got an better ad espn or madden ? and just like their game who runs the same format every year? wheather in the game or their commercials I tell people stright up,If madden didn't have the mini camp feature last year it would be the same thing year after year with those boring *** 16 bit graphics. So this year what they do"enhanced their GRAPHICS" so my hats off to the 2k sega boys for going under the espn tent... to keep it on the down low so to speak. But here something to think about since there's nomore sega and 2k series games and sega was a real thorn in ea side why wouldn't (ea) welcome espn video games to showcase their game on their own damn show???? because they know sega went to espn and they can't afford people seeing just the damn presentation of espn and open their eyes and trying something new and better ....you make the call?????

ESPN is still sega and VC.It is still the 2k series ESPN is 2k4 it is on the bottom of the package so I dont really know what you are trying to say.

Well to be honest it is a matter of preference. Both are good games. Both have the best they have ever produced this season. As much as I like my ESPN this season though I had to try Madden and I have to admit, it is an awesome game. On All-Pro or All-Madden it is pretty realistic. The accellerated clock is very cool and brings an entire new feel. We all know the CPU in any football video game is not right. Theres no way a team gets up and throws or runs with 25 seconds left on the 40 second clock. Usually it's (unless they are in hurry up offense) around 10 seconds or even less by the time the play is off. Madden makes this come as close as posssible. You can play longer games with real stats because it will not allow the oppossing team or you to even start to line up before 19 seconds. By the time your set and all. It is down to 12. Then to read the defense it takes another 2 or 3 seconds. I love it. I hope ESPN puts this in next year.

This is one of many cool features in Madden. The debate betwween the two games though is silly. Why must one suck and the other rule? Can't they both be good? When I hear someone say that one is so much better right away a 12 year old kid comes to mind. It seems adults would have a bit more sense and realize that one game has something the other doesn't. Example: Both have good graphics but ESPN's are better. Yet both have franchise and are both quite good... but the general consensus is Madden's is better.

The thing is the one you like is what counts. Not your opinion that the other one is a krappy game. Because it isn't. No matter how you try and analyze or cut down all those people can't be wrong. Neither one is a bad game. Both are very good. Sorry if some of you don't feel this way but if your honest you too will see that this is true.

I to enjoy them both. I like ESPN's gameplay but Madden's Franchise is better. When I actually want to PLAY a game of football, I pick up ESPN. When I want to play around with mini-camps, I pick up Madden.

This thread is not a Madden Vs ESPN it is a topic on the fact that EA is plastered all over ESPN and There game is not.

True...And I beg your humble forgiveness. I was not trying to compare both.

The reason Madden is all over ESPN is for several reasons. Main thing is of course...MONEY! EA advertises everywhere. But also most players in the NFL seem to play Madden. I have NEVER heard one who claims they play Sega's game on their off time. Just a possibility. But I think they could be correct.

You are forgiven :D
Yes It could be the money.I to have not heard of any NFL players playing ESPN but maybe EA has paided so we dont see that.

Sega has always had crappy advertising. Their commercials now barely show any gameplay footage at all. Sega really needs to learn how to advertise. That's one of the reason why Madden is always on top. Everybody knows about EA's game because they know exactly how to promote their game. I don't think they advertise on ESPN just to shove it in Sega's face. They do that because they know a lot of football fans watch that show. You have to advertise where you're audience is. EA knows how to do that. Sega is still trying to learn.

Definatley a money thing

It doesnt really make much sense to me. You would think that ESPN would make more money if they promoted thier game instead of EA's. Even though im sure EA pays them a boatload of cash for the ads I would think ESPN would make more if their own game was more succesfull. They could really hurt EA if ESPN's game was all over ESPN and Monday night football instead of Maddden. Those would be the 2 biggest outlets to advertise football games so I would think ESPN could put a huge dent in EA's sales if they took them off the air. Maybe they had a contract in place before ESPN put their name on the game and they just have to wait for it to run out?

I doubt that they would ever be able to advertise on Monday Night Football since it's John madden's territory now. But yes EA is smarter when it comes to advertising...
