Mike Tyson is my favorite fighter of all time and one of my heroes.
He is fighting Saturday night against Kevin McBride.
Im gonna give Mike the benefit of the doubt that he lost his last fight to Danny Williams due to having 4 tears in his meniscus which he did in the first round.
Mike has a new trainer who has been really working him hard, he is making Mike spar 8 to 10 rounds a session whereas Freddie Roach only made Mike spar 4 rounds.
I think Mike will be the heavyweight champion again before he quits for good.
any other Tyson fans on here?

Tyson is a beast in the ring. Not really a fan, but looking foward to see if he bites a body part off.

Let me explain the ear biting.
in the first fight Evander Holyfield kept headbutting Mike and severely cut Mike's eye.
what this did was, it made Mike a lesser fighter by impairing his vision, holyfield won the fight.
Fight number 2 it was even a round a piece and holyfield starts that BS headbutting and cuts Mike's eye again.
When Holyfield did it again Mike snapped and bit his ear off.
Holyfield is one of the dirtiest fighters ever and I have no sympathy for him at all.
he got what he deserved.

Yeah, I used to be a big Tyson fan also. He grew up in the Brooklyn area, then moved to the Catskills, but I dont know about Mike. I mean, my man Mike had the chance to be one of the greatest of alltime. He messed up big time by getting with Robin Givens. Yeah he made some stupid mistakes in his life, but I feel getting with Givens, and letting go of Teddy Atlas messed him up in the long run.
Plus im not paying $45 to see Mike fight a stiff. I mean, c'mon man, McBride?
You gotta be kiddin' me?
Lucky for me im able to get to a chipped out box....

I like and respect Mike, but i question him regaining the title. Some of the best fighters never new when to call it quits. I'm not saying he should, but he is cutting it close.
BTW I'm not going to shell out 45 ducketts on what could end up being a 20 sec.-3 minute fight.
I will however pay 45 beans to see him actually try and eat McBrides kids... jk

I got 5 people watching it, we are all throwing in 9 bucks a piece, so that makes it worth it!
The heavyweight division is pretty horrible, I think he could knock out John Ruiz or Chris Byrd, those guys wouldnt be able to handle his power. Mike still has loads of power.

P.S.: Mike Tyson shouldn't be a hero to you (Machine) or anybody else, dude. A lot of things that have happened in his life, he has brought on himself. Nobody should really feel sorry for him, IMO.

I dont feel sorry for him, but to come where he came from and to be able to accomplish what he has is inspiring.
He motivates me to work out and run and i find him to be very inspiring.
Ive been following him since the late 80's, He has been done wrong by lots of people in his life but he perseveres through it and keeps on regardless.
If Tyson hadnt went to prison he would be right up there with Muhammad Ali as the greatest fighter ever.
No one in the history of boxing has made more money than Tyson.

I don't admire Tyson as a person but I do like him as a boxer. For the past year I have started to like his attitude and personality more too. He handled the press conference the other day very well. He said what he had to say but he stayed under control. lol remember that Tyson has also lost more money than any boxer. It's sad how much he got screwed though by Don King. I don't look at Tyson as a bad person. He definitely has a nice side to him and I think it's finally becoming a bigger part of him than his bad side. It's Mike Tyson though so we never know what to expect.

1. Getting with Don King
2. Marrying Robin Givens
3. The fallout with Kevin Rooney & letting go of Teddy Atlas
4. The untimely death of Cus D'Amato (R.I.P.)
5. Letting the green get to his head
6. Not training for the James "Buster" Douglas fight
7. Going into that hotel room with that skank
8. Going to jail countless times because of countless blunders
9. Team Tyson as his corner, what a joke. Those guys couldnt train a monkey to eat a banana
10. Biting Holyfield's ear made him lose even more time in the ring trying to get back his boxing license
Oh, did I forget to mention getting down with Don King...?
Those are the 10 major ingredients involved with Mike's downward spiral from the top to the bottom of the abyss :(

Yeah that was Chef & Power, Alan Houston was also in the movie along with Method Man, and Robert Downey Jr. The movie is called Black & White which came out towards the end of '99.

Watch tonight and see how bad he destroys this guy.

I honestly feel that it was no reason to watch that joint. Too bad he can't get that money back to get out of his debt. I saw him boxing pretty decent in the highlights until I heard it was a TKO. I wish they had boxing matches in the video store. Would be so tight on the real. Still, I'm hurt that he did lose cause that's the end of him. Maybe if we get a solid simlike boxing game soon, we might get him in there as a "legend" like he should have been for a while.

C'mon man, how about the peeps who paid $44.95 to see the fight? :?
Tyson got exposed by a 3rd tier heavyweight journeyman! :o
He got exposed as a P U S S Y! How are you gonna quit on the stool after all that smack you was talking earlier? Tyson is all talk with no substance! He's always been that way! Who did he fight with any significance over the years? Trevor Berbick? Pinklon Thomas? Tony Tubbs? Tim Witherspoon? An old a*s Larry Holmes? Micheal Spinks, who was basically a light heavyweight at the time? Buster Douglas, who couldn't even defend his title one time? George Foreman? Holyfield, who was past his prime and still ended up winning, twice? I think his legacy is overrated now that I look at it!
I use to be a big Tyson fan, but I lost all respect for him, as a boxer, after the Holyfield incident. That left me in shambles and pretty much convinced me that Tyson was a coward in the ring. Hes been so use to the 1, 2, 3 round KO's over his career that he doesn't know what to do once the fight goes past 5 rounds. His entire career was based off of fear. Cats had fudge in their pamper before they even entered the ring. Once someone is scared of you, you have them beat! He never had a decent jab, and didn't develop one til he came out of prison for the 1,000th time, and hes a street brawler not a boxer. I believe Ruiz and Bryd can beat him also, I mean, shhhhh, he couldnt even beat McBride whos a 3rd tier heavyweight at that. I give McBride props for holding his own, and keeping the scorecards even thru 5, but I give him even more props for exposing Tyson for who, and what, he really is all about. All talk and no substance! And the funny thing is McBride wasn't even beating Tyson up; no cuts, and no bruises. He basically lost his stamina after the third round, which showed that he didnt even train, what a joke!
Talking all that jazz about his heart wasnt in it, c'mon man stop it...
Anyone who believes that is a fool! Tyson was scared that McBride was going to do "the Lennox Lewis" on him, and have him plastered across the cover of S.I. looking like a bum journeyman in the boxing game stretched across the middle of the canvas on his backside! Thats why he quit on his stool. He might as well stay retired and play with his pigeons on a Brooklyn rooftop!
Plus I didnt even pay for the fight and im tight. Im embarrassed for saying that I even watched the fight! Whatever little legacy he had left just went up into smoke last night! Then he has the nerve to say that Showtime should reimburse everyone. C'mon homie, Showtime isn't going to pay anyone back! :? If he wanted to look like the bigger person he shouldn't of accepted the $5 mil! Hey, I understand that Tyson would break me up and beat me down in the streets, but then again he wouldn't make any money in the process to help payoff the I.R.S.
Im done with this fool....

Tyson is basically a quitter. Once the best, now the worst. That is just bad, he should have left the game a long while ago, but he chose to stay in and box. He just boxed til he couldn't. Well he couldn't the other year, and this year just goes to show that a good boxer went bad. As an average boxing fan, I dislike Tyson now as a boxer, because of what he has done.

50-6 record and Mike Tyson is a p*ssy? Wow, I would hate to see everyone's opinion about a boxer with a lesser record.
I agree that Tyson's career was mostly about fear, but Mike still had to earn that fear factor from his fellow boxers. I don't know too many boxers that commanded that much fear before a bout even starts. I don't know about anyone else's opinion, imo, you're one bad muthaf*cka to make someone scare of you without throwing a punch. Mike is still one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Mike Tyson is my favorite fighter of all time and one of my heroes.
I think Mike will be the heavyweight champion again before he quits for good.
You sure can pick 'em
Mike Tyson has been pretty much a tomato can since 1990 and it was a mercy to the sport that he has finally hung them up. Other than the fact he intimidated his way through a poor heavyweight division when he won his title, Tyson was never able to beat any of the quality heavyweights that he faced while losing some memorable bouts to other tomato cans like McBride and Buster Douglas
Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield undressed Tyson in front of the world as a poser and let's not forget that the biggest spanking he ever received came from Robin Givens. His legacy is about as flawed as the man himself
Whatever you see in that man that is "heroic" is beyond me

He's overrated. His legacy was built on guys who were never going anywhere. Beyond that, when he finally ran into quality opponents he was shredded to bits.
Was there the potential in the beginning? Sure there was, but his run still came at one of the weakest times in the history of the heavvyweight division. There were no Alis, no Fraziers (other than Marvis...), no Foremans in their prime. When he fought the Lennox Lewis types, he got creamed. Don't believe the hype
Have fun.............

Whatever you see in that man that is "heroic" is beyond me
I agree that Tyson's career was mostly about fear, but Mike still had to earn that fear factor from his fellow boxers. I don't know too many boxers that commanded that much fear before a bout even starts. I don't know about anyone else's opinion, imo, you're one bad muthaf*cka to make someone scare of you without throwing a punch. Mike is still one of the greatest boxers of all time.
You can almost make the same case for Lewis and Holyfield. Let's be truthful about this. The heavyweight division has been saturated with weak talent for almost two decades now. Second, this will always be an age old debate. Could Lewis or Holyfield take on a pre-jailed Tyson? If watch Tyson before he went to jail, Tyson was a monster. His punching power was second to none. His speed for a heavyweight was unprecedented. Tyson had an excellent evasive/counter-attack. Tyson was one of the few boxers that I watched that could weaved, but at the same time would counter with...not just a punch...but with 3-5 combo flurry with that powerful KO punch at the end. Most boxers have the tendecy to throw just 1-2 punches which are more of a "back up off me" tactic when on the defense. It was this evasive/counter-attack combined with real punching power style of boxing that really made Tyson dangerous. Of course, it didn't hurt that Tyson was relentless on the offensive end either.
It's indisputable that jail and his divorce from Robin Givens changed him. How do I know? 5 of his six losses came after he went to jail. As far as I'm concern, Tyson still has a secured place as being one of the top heavyweights in boxing. There's nothing "hype" about him. Have you ever thought that the reason that heavyweight division looked so weak at the time might have been caused by the fact that Tyson was so good? Think about that one for a moment...

What was the formula that beat Tyson in almost all of his losses?
1. Don't give in to his intimidation techniques (see: Douglas, Holyfield & Lewis)
2. Frustrate Tyson with the jab (see: Douglas, Holyfield & Lewis)
3. Utilize a size advantage (see: Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis & McBride)
4. Box him (Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis & McBride)
Tyson was a puncher. He was not a boxer. In the amateur ranks, where being a boxer means a whole lot more than being a puncher, Tyson had almost zero success, failing to ever make and Olympic team. Interesting that the two guys who beat Tyson the most soundly were well-feted amateur boxers in Holyfield and Lewis
Check Tyson's Record (http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=000474), then look at Lewis' (http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=001853), and then look at Holyfield's (http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=000499). I hate to tell you, but when I think of the best fighter of those three, I look at Holyfield. Sure he had more losses, but he fought everybody and anybody, without limiting himself to spending his time with tomato cans as much as either Lewis or Tyson.
Beyond that, Lewis proved that he was well ahead of Tyson, not only in the pros, but also in the amateur ranks, outclassing him in sparring sessions
When you look at the guys that Tyson beat you don't see a lot of great names other than maybe Michael Spinks, a Light-Heavyweight and Larry Holmes, a guy who was well beyond his prime
Like I said, Tyson was a myth. A scary story that frightened a few pugs, but was eventually debunked by guys who were unafraid of the Boogeyman and other urban legends
Let it rest and let Mike Tyson go away for once and for all
Have fun...............

I agree with K Bomber! Theres nothing to think about because the division was weak before he got there. He unified the division by beating Trevor Berbick (WBC champ), James "Bonecrusher" Smith (WBA champ), and Tony Tucker (IBF champ), respectively. Those guys aren't even Top 20 material, more like Top 50 at best, maybe. Plus Smith, and Tucker took Tyson the distance, 12 rounds. They weren't great heavyweights, just good, and not very good, just good. His fear was pretty much based on "what he did to the next man". Fighters were assuming their outcome based on what he did in his previous fights. Just because you beat him, doesnt mean you can beat me! Once he unified the division he only defended his title 6 times. Once against an over the hill Larry Holmes, and Micheal Spinks, who was basically a light heavyweight. He never fought Mercir, he never fought Riddick Bowe, and when he was suppose to fight Holyfield in 1991, when The Real Deal was champ, he suddenly developed that mysterious rib injury, hmm???? Of course the fight never took place, at the time, because he went to prison on those ra pe charges. Him and Foreman almost hooked up as I totally forgot, along with Tim Witherspoon, but maybe its good that those fights never took place.
After getting demolished by Douglas, and following 2 consecutive wins, he finally got his match against the hard hitting Canadian, Donovan "Razor" Ruddock. Tyson won the first match due to a questionable stoppage of the fight, by controversial referee Richard Steele in the 7th round. Tyson then won the rematch with an unanimous 12 round decision.
Thats the end of Tyson's reign as the "so-called" best......
If you wanna rank Tyson among the alltime greats you have to break his career down into sections. From 1985-89 he went 37-0 with 33 KO's. He definitley ranks in the Top 20, and maybe even the Top 15. I say maybe because of the quality of fighters he fought during that span. Michael Spinks, and an old Larry Holmes at best. Anyone can look at the numbers and say, "ooh wee Tyson is the #1 best alltime", but people who understand that the division was more watered down than a glass of beer with 10 ice cubes in it, understand that's not the case with Tyson. Yeah, I give him credit with the explosive power, lightning fast hand speed, and combo flurries, along with the power, but your only as good as what you come up against. Hes not in the same category as Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, Sonny Liston, Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, or even Holyfield, and Lennox Lewis for that matter.
Now from 1990-2005 its ridiculous because he only had 21 bouts within that stretch. Theres no longevity, and most importantly, theres no consistency. When compared to the alltime greats, he's Top 50 material between those years, at best. I believe he sustained a 13-6 record with 2 NC's. With the exception of Ruddock and maybe Seldon, and thats a strong maybe, the quality of fighters he beat were trash; not to mention he lost a few also. Funny thing is that he was stripped by the WBC for fighting Seldon in '96 instead of guess who? Lennox Lewis! His greatness is stuck within the 80's, and thats only a four year span! His 37-0 record with 33KO's made him what he is today; a myth, and the McBride fight pretty much showed us the same that the two Holyfield fights showed us concerning Mike Tyson, the man....
As K would say,
Have fun.....
