seriously san fran, you might be able to pull it off, hold annual TO league tourney's and what not. it's not baseball or football, but just as intense sometimes. from what i hear there is stat tracking as well. i know if you do start something like that. I MUST BE APART OF OF THAT ONE, lol.

I doubt he means a being able to download this 2k game. There are Poker games out there that can be downloaded onto the computer for free....

if you notice - he bolded "fake poker", he wasn't asking about the download comment.

MuDvAyNe, since you know very little about the title, how can you make such comments?
This poker game will be perhaps the most advanced poker game to date... a true SIM like only the WPT can provide... not some free download.
heh.

Is it online? I can't imagine this game not, but just checking.

Do we play for real money with this game? Doubt it. I think he's talking about Poker Stars and whatnot. The ones where you can actually play for money.

Unmatched Online Action - Go "all in" against players across the country with WPT's robust online functionality. Compete in tournaments, set up poker nights with your friends, manage buddy lists, and chat.
sounds pretty interesting...itd be nice if it was hooked in with the buddy lists on 2k6 games so you can still tell if someones on

Thats the best part about xbox live. Hopefully the ps3 will allow for subscription based service so that one user name and friends/buddy list can be used and seen on every game like xbox live.

Sorry I guess I didn't make myself clear on that one. When I meant fake I meant not playing for real money. The free programs you can download online and play get lame after a while because people usually bet on nothing. Since it's not real money I will feel that people will do the same on Xbox Live. Not knocking on the game since I have never played it but I love Texas Hold em.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say by calling it "fake" he meant that there won't be real money exchanging hands.

Um the guy is probably right. Some FREE DOWNLOAD where you actually play with real money will be better than any video game where no real money/prize is involved. Have you not seen any Poker Games? Without anything being involved, people go all in with anything because they could REALLY care less. Trust me there are a lot of idiots who do that and I know since I'm a big time poker player.

in the last 3 years i have played loads of poker on line on certain sites... for play and real money... and im really looking forward to this game. not so much because of the on line capabilities, but more for the career mode at the moment. because i can just as well play for real money against others on line without having to pay for the software.
i guess that when im playing the career and venture off in the multiplayer world that i could start to like it, but only if you are playing for something thats worth staying in the game for.
now that i think of it: if this game would be playable with real money, im can imagine that it would take loads of people away from the regular poker sites that are out there, because the graphics are so much more advanced in this computer game

What about stacked with Daniel Negraneu? They claim that their ai "poki" has been in development for 10 years and is the most advanced out there.

Pokipoker is certainly much more advanced than this game will be, if 2K Sports started the AI development from scratch, that's for sure.
As for why would anyone play WPT 2K6. Here's a couple of reasons:
1. It's $19.99. I don't know about you, but that's pocket money to me.
2. It's WPT. The WPT presentation is the best out there, and if they replicate that in this game, it'll be great.
3. The ability to play online poker against your friends within the XBL interface. I don't particularly enjoy playing poker against total strangers, because a large percentage of them are complete *******s. Not enough of my friends offline play poker or are so far away from me that playing poker with them is not an option without something like XBL. I also have a great group of poker-loving people in my XBL friends list. I couldn't play poker with them any other way.
I've tried World Championship Poker on XBL, and it sucked worse than donkey balls, but this one looks quite good. Hope it doesn't dissapoint me.
