I am getting cable broadband internet access installed this Saturday. It will be installed in my office which is on the second level of the house. My PlayStation 2 is on the main level. Will I need both a router and a bridge to hook up to the PlayStation 2?
Also, does anyone have recommended brands or model numbers of specific roters and bridges (if needed) to use with the PlayStation 2?
Thank,
RIVERMAN

dont kno if i can help but a friend of mine was having a problem using a router... too slow and when he connected the cable right to the ps2 w/o the router everything was fine again but im sure alot of people here use a router. My ps2 is a floor above my modem, i just cut a hole through the floor and s***** the wire down and whenever i use my computer i just disconnect everything and use the other wire... it beats spending 50 on a router

Yo! Your best bet would be to call your cable company first and ask if you need a router. For my specific provider, I NEEDED a router to go online with my PS2; no way around it.

I use high speed dsl with my router. My PS2 is hardwired in the basement and computer is on main floor. You may have to program your router to open MSN zone settings so that you can play games online. I found that this worked great for myself.
Good luck.

Well I got bored and registered for this board, but anyway Jetsfan, do you use Shaw by any chance? Because I do, and not that I have any problems using the router, but it's still a pain that they require that I HAVE TO use one.

Yo! I do use Shaw, so going online without a router was out of the question. Works pretty well with the router installed; not too laggy either.

So to answer your question...yes it is a pain in the ***, but a router is a good thing to have anyways.
