you missed many good players, if i have to choose one of your options, karl malone is my choice, malone continue breaking records everyday he plays....

but no doubt the best player ever is Pete Maravich because he gave us a new vision and way to play.

So did MJ. So did Bird. Magic, Shaq...Where's the logic there?

Isn't that kind of the quality of greatness, that it redefines how the game is played and perceived?

I'm not sure that Karl Malone makes the top ten on my list. As it is, I don't think he ranks ahead of any of the following retired players:

Oscar Robertson
Wilt Chamberlain
Bill Russell
Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Michael Jordan
Magic Johnson
Larry Bird
Pistol Pete Maravich
Isiah Thomas
Bob Cousy
Dominique Wilkins
Moses Malone
Julius Erving
Hakeem Olajuwon
David Robinson
Jerry West
Willis Reed
Nate Thurmond

By the end of their careers, I think these guys will eclipse him as well:
Tim Duncan
Shaquille O'Neal
Kevin Garnett
LeBron James
Jason Kidd

Don't take this post as a slam against Malone, but when you talk about individual greatness, Malone gets impacted somewhat by the chicken and the egg arguement that is resultant from the shared greatness of Stockton and Malone as a combo

Fire away............

Chamberlain, because 100 pts in one game by a single player makes some of the NBA teams these days look pretty sorry. He also had some crazy rebounding numbers. Did he grab a NBA record high of rebounds in one game too? I believe he was a great passer also. Chamberlain turned the game of basketball inside out with his performance.

you can argue about some players, but Karl Malone?? Yea, he was a KILLA.....but when you compare him to Jordan, you can already see he isn't the best player..........
