Nux, I guess some of the sim-leagues you're in must be really well run.

I can say that I was one of the first people that created online hockey leagues for Xbox. Back in October 29, 2002 almost month before release of NHL 2k3 we created our first league.
In all this time we complete 3 seasons.
One of the seasons you can see here: http://xboxhockey.net/standings.htm
In this season we used very cool RANKING SYSTEM using formula that I figured to calculate players rating: http://xboxhockey.net/rank.htm
Forth season is right here: http://xboxhockey.gameburst.com/standings.php?leagueId=2&operation=stats
As you can see our forth season got 3 leagues. Site uses automated system that allow people to report result to the site and its updating in real time. We got boxscore and stats for best players as well as some stats for each team.
Pros of online leagues:
You can play by the rules.
You can track stats which is lots of fun to me.
Cons:
Low commitment. Usualy people signing very fast to play in league but when time comes to play only every third ready to play.
People tend to drop from league if they losing a lot or having weak team.
A LOT of complains/arguing/rage.
I use to was a big fan of online leagues. Right now I am looking for motivation to keep it running.

I think I run the EHNL very well. :D

Right on the money. I love online leagues because you can compete against real people instead of the crappy CPU that just looks for one-timers everywhere. I also love online leagues because rules can be made to shape or to suit the particular personality of the league. Both leagues I am in are "sim" leagues, and have "sim"-oriented rules, though I usually play a pretty "sim" game whether the rules require it or not.
The problem is definitely with deadbeat owners that don't play their damn games. The best you can do is hope some of your owners will play their games, and that other people who will play their games sign up for the waiting list so that the deadbeats can be replaced. The EH.Net League has been very fortunate to only have two deadbeats so far. :)
Complaints/arguing/etc. reach their maximum if there are either no rules or too many rules. If you get the right owners playing under the right set of rules, then they will all hopefully cooperate and not argue with each other about everything. Again, the EHNL has been extremely fortunate that most of its owners are very honorable, cool people. The number of complaints I've received about owners has been extremely minimal.
(edit) Wow, there are some pretty silly words censored here. I called the CPU an adjective that starts with "cra" and ends with "ppy," but apparently that's blocked out. Seriously, what is this, Catholic school? Are we not allowed to say "jeez" either because it's a play on "Jesus?" 11 and 12 year olds know about oral sex now, so I don't think we need to worry about them potentially being exposed to the word that consists of "cra" followed by "ppy" for the first time or in a way that would be detrimental to them.
Blarg.
(edit 2) Okay, wow. I think everyone knows what word should go in that censored spot next to "oral." I really think this is Catholic school now. This is ridiculous.

try the word that starts with "H" and ends with "ell". Catholic school at its best.

Dont forget that this is official forum of ESPNvideogames - and with ammount of lawers in USA no one want to get in court debates with some angree parents.
That is why this forums are PG or even G.
