What about Nate "Tiny" Archibald and Bob Cousy? I must say the best point gaurds usually come from New York. They have the speed, court vision, shot, and the leadership.

Florida obviously got the most talent...
Superstars right now:
Tracy McGrady
Vince Carter
Amare Stoudemire
I should do a little more research... but that's a list right now...
Oakland Area and NYC really do have great talent as well...
But I got a quick question... does it matter if someone is born in one place (MJ in NY) and raised someplace else (North Carolina)?
Cuz if that's the case, North Carolina has a great amount of talent as well...

MJ is a freak of nature that comes along every 1000 years... he was born in New York, but lived in North Carolina for the majority of his childhood...
So New York claiming Michael Jordan may be a little unfair... but New Yorkers claim everything... and they sure our proud of their little city...
They're kinda like America's Quebec... (Y'all Canucks will know what I'm talkin about)

Bob Sura and Sam Cassel played for some college in Flordia, but I'm not sure they were born in Flordia.
Was Vince Carter raised in Daytona Beach or did he move out to North Carolina? I have some clips of VC in highschool, but Im not sure where it was at...

The topic CLEARLY say's "Which State Produces the best basketball players?". So it dosent matter if MJ spent most of his time in NC. Jordan came from NYC, plain and simple. Unfair? If he was from FL you wouldnt say nothing :P. But take MJ out of the picture, we still have better players. Skip, Pee Wee, Bob, Step, Odom, Dr. J, Ron Artest etc...and we even have Steph cousin Sebastain making a scene, and the way he's playing...its most likely he will have an impact on the NBA in the near future.
but New Yorkers claim everything... and they sure our proud of their little city...
Yeah you got me there...Thats because we have everything. :D Little city? Im pretty sure that our "little" city is bigger than any other city in FL. Look Im not trying to start a NY and FL fued. But Im just getting the facts straight.

Well if you wanna go which state PRODUCES the best ball players... MJ was just born in NY... and his game was directed and produced by North Carolina...
Anyways... take MJ outta the picture... and take the 3 most talented players from each state... Florida has TMac (Played at Auburndale High School 9-11th Grade), Vince (Played at nearby Daytona Beach High... and when Vince was playin there I knew a dude that dropped like 27 on him), and Amare (Cypress Creek High)...
While the squad of Starbury, Ron Ron and Lamar is nice... I think my Three Musketeers can take New York's Three Stooges...

Sorry... no one has convinced me that they got three guys in the L right now that are better than Mac, VC, and Amare... the three are just sick...
And out of your California team... none of your guys are taller than 6'4"... who would guard TMac and Amare?

Oh brother...The thread say's "Which state produces the best ballas" it dosent say "Which state produces the best ballas that are in the L right now". Well if its in that case. Florida obviously got the best 3. But that aint the point. The thread is "Which State produves the best ballas", and its obviously NYC.

Who would guard Kidd, Payton, and Hook? Amare would probaly be dominant, but Payton and Kidd have guarded players as tall and strong as T-Mac and Vince.

First off, NYC isn't a state.
Secondly, NC would be the best producer of basketball talent, up to the 90s.
Thirdly, Jason Kidd and Gary Payton, no matter how good of defenders they are, could not stop TMac and Vince from posting up or driving to the hole. Florida beats Cali.

Brankles I'm really not getting you here. Are you trying to say that Florida would be NY and CA's players today? If so, in their primes?
Anyways, if we break out of Oakland and expand to Los Angeles, Paul Pierce, Hook, and GP would beat T-Mac, Vince, and Amare in my opinion.

No. First of all, you obviously know that Im talking about New York. And if you were from NY. You would consider NYC being the state, since Times Square is in the middle of the city, and that where everyone goes, and thats where everything goes down. Heck, the Knicks play in the middle of the city. Anybody from NY, would agree with me, as when I say us New Yorkers consider New York City as our "state".
But enough of that. NYC has the best ballas PERIOD. Now lets move on...

Everything in the thread is an opinion so you need to stop talking like everything that you type is a fact because it isn't.

The Sleeper State...ya'll arguing about alot of states, but I don't think that anyone has mentioned Louisiana...Ya'll might have the best current ballers, but Louisiana has to be considered in a coversation of where the best ballers of all time are from...
Bob Petit 25pt, 16reb per and 1 championship with the Hawks
Bill Russell 15pt, 22reb and 11 championships with Celtics, Olympic GOLD(once had 50 rebounds in a game)
Karl Malone 25pt, 10reb,Olympic GOLD
Clyde Drexler...20pt, 6.1reb, 1 championship with Rockets, Olympic GOLD.
(don't think that he played high school ball here, but he was born in LA.)
Joe Dumars 16.1pt ,2 championships with Pistons, (Finals most valuable player one year).
Elvin Hayes 21pt, 12 reb, 1 championship
Marques Johnson 20pt
Robert Parish 14.5pt, 9reb, and 3 championships with Celtics
Willis Reed 19pt, 13reb, 2 championships (first person to win All 3 MVPs in same season: All Star, Regular Season, Finals)
PS...I would love to claim Shaq and Pistol Pete, but they're not from Louisiana...I think Shaq's from Jersey, and Pistol's from NC.
Sooo Try this starting lineup on for size....
C ----Russel/Parish
PF ---Willis Reed/Malone/Hayes
SF ---Petite/Marques Johnson
SG---Drexler
PG---Dumars
That's about 16 or 17 championships, a handful of All Star Game MVP's, a few regular season MVPs, some olympic GOLD, and a few more finals MVP's....and all kinds of other alcolades.
Louisiana might not produce the best ballers, but it's certainly one of the best kept secrets in bball. It's the sleeper state.
Guess that we can Throw Avery Johnson and Kerry Kittles on the bench to give the team some youth. Don't sleep, Avery's got a championship ring.
And We have a bunch of good lady ballers from Louisiana too.

Yeah Louisiana has a nice set of ballers...
You also left out my favorite, Pistol Pete Maravich... the best college basketball player of all time...
And The-Answer further added to my opinion of New Yorkers being overly proud of their city by claiming that New York City is a state.

Well he's got a point since I haven't heard of any players coming out of Albany or Buffalo. NYC is the general area that all the players from New York come out of, while some grew up in Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem, etc.
