Besides J.Kidd, is Starbury the 2nd best PG in the league?? I mean, Bibby is nice, B. Diddy is nice, but he's more of a shooter.........but Starbury can drop 20+ points and still dish out 8 or 9 assists. The boy is nasty.......and I think he'll only get better.

Just last game, the Knicks beat the Clippers, and Starbury had 42 points shooting a good 15-20 from the field and 8-9 from freethrow, while dishing out 2 steals. The point guard, you could say him and J.Kidd are point gods.

MEANWHILE.....

J.Kidd just last game, the Nets beat the Sixers, J.Kidd had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists...........wat does that spell?? Take a lucky guess.

Melo is shooting great nowadays, he scored 24 points in the loss to the Kings. He shot 10-16, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out his average, 3 assists and got 3 steals. But again, the Nuggets lost to a team who played a lot better.

No offense Wiz, but I think we should just stick with one topic per topic. I think it'll get kind of confusing. So I recommend that. Anyways...

I think Starbury is second best, if not the best. I think Jason is a bit overrated at times, and is given too much credit for the Nets first Eastern Conference Champions title. I think he's great for this millenium, but the point guard position nowadays isn't that good like it used to be. There's not enough pure point guards in the league now. I mean, we have Payton and we have Kidd, and they set the standard for what a pure point guard is now. But then Francis, Marbury, and B-Diddy all seem to be shoot-first. Not taking anything away from them because they're good, but they just aren't your ideal point guard, like your Mark Jackson or John Stockton.

In response to the title, I'd have to say NO! Stephon's been in the league just as long as Kobe, AI, Allen, and the guys of the present. He's certainly reaching his veteran days.

overrated??? Please, J.Kidd is definitely not overrated, he makes players around him better, before J.Kidd, who was RJ?? Who was Kittles?? J.Kidd and Magic Johnson, 2 of my favorite point guards.

I said AT TIMES, he is overrated. Like when people say he should've won the MVP over Duncan and that he got robbed. Please...get real.

Richard Jefferson was the forward for Arizona. His point guard was Jason Gardner.

Kerry Kittles surprisingly had his two best seasons in his first two years.

To be the future, you have to be in the league in the Future... which means, no, Starbury is not the future of the league... the dude is 30+ years old and a few years away from either retirement or mediocrity...

He's good, no doubt, but will never be a great player... just another really good combo guard playing point...

Depends on what you mean by "Da Future" Stephon is da future of New York Knicks Basketball. Unfortunatly he is not da future of da NBA. Being a Knick fan, i believe Steph has da goods to take us to da promise-land.

Steph may be the 2nd best PG in the L right now... but arguably...

Baron Davis and Steve Francis play in the same mold of Marbury, and I personally believe Baron Davis is a little better than Marbury...

Here's my ranking of PGs
1. Jason Kidd
2. Baron Davis
3. Stephon Marbury
4. Steve Francis
5. Steve Nash

And in no particular order:
Sam Cassell
Tony Parker
Andre Miller
Gary Payton
Nick Van Exel

I really don't care if Stpeh is the future of the NBA and I'm pretty sure Steph doesn't care eaither. Steph just wants to win soo badly, I can't blame him for being stuck in Jersey with injured players and players who are too "materialized" and getting fusterrated with it. You see this guy plays in all the charity games and the EBC and you can tell he has the desire and love for the game of basketball. He's doing all that he can in New York, it's all up to his teammates because Steph is doing his part.

Baron is a better shooter than Starbury, but starbury can get the passes and make the shots, sure B.diddy can pass a lil, but Starbury can put up more assists and the points......

^Yeah it's really an opinion. Both are great players, and put up great numbers. I think Davis averages more points and assists, but not by much.

I like both of their games... smart, athletic, hustle, heart...

But you can't really determin who's better. It's kinda like Kobe vs TMac... all based on opinion...

yea, i guess u could say that, but i think now that Starbury is with NY, he'll be doin a lot more, even if he doesn't score me, cuz he has been on the roll with assists............but from all the PG's who shoot a lot(Francis, B.diddy, Starbury), i think Starbury is the best point guard, that don't mean Steve and Baron don't have a better shot or don't pass, but they are more like SG's trapped in PG's bodies.....

With Baron Davis turning into Antoine Walker's clone, I say that there's no doubt that Davis is the second most productive point guard in the league. Francis is good, but he's not as productive as he once was now that he's not the "Franchise".

Does it really matter who's the best point gaurd in the league? Nobody can win the arguement, everything is based on an opinion. The creator of this thread (Wiz) can change the title of this thread to who owns the 1 spot in the league because the question said is "Stephon "Starbury" Marbury......Is He The Future??"...

only 26 yrs old he came into league young but only 26 yrs old he is the future of the league in the east anyway, its setting up to be a like Thomas/jordan all over again this time with Marbury and James now all the east needs is a Bird.
