View Full Version : What's the secret to drafting?

I've drafted one good player in about 10 years (an 82 overall, last pick of the first round). Most of the players I draft are in the high 60's with a low 70 every now and then. The guys I draft have good ratings, do good at the combine, are projected 1st rounders on the mock draft, etc. What am I doing wrong? Any of you guys having the same problem?

To draft, you get right behind the car in front of you: as close as you can without touching.
Then, as you come out of a corner, you slingshot to the inside and overtake him on the straight.

before the deadline see which team is going to be the worst that season and trade a good-great player for their #1 pick hopefully it will be #1 overall and you could replace the traded player with a top pick.i did a fantasy draft for my season and picked faulk as my rb.after the season there was a top rb going (projected#3)and he was a rating of 86 and faulk was a rating of 89.not bad for a #3 huh?i wanted to trade faulk (10 years going on 11 for a young stud rb)but i dropped the ball by playing the week after the deadline!

I've had decent luck with the draft. Do the combine and try to spread around the hours. Don't always listen to what the computer recommends (yellow screen during the draft) it tends to pick positions you need to fill instead of best available players. You can always trade. One thing I realized tonight was not to go by the overall rating. I needed to fill a WR position so I went to the free agents and looked around. I found a guy rated 52 but his catching is 94 and his route running is 77. The guy hasn't dropped a pass yet!! I took it one step further and found a DT with a rating of 61. His run coverage is 94. I use him on my Bear and 4-3 defenses only. He's great!!

Good job 8d850. This way you can fill a need vs filling a position. You could draft a pass rusher just to use for pass plays, or that great run stopper.

yeah i do that same thing, i never scout wr's becasue you can tell their hands and speed at the draft so its a waste of hours scouting them. I also always use situational players. I have every formation in my playbook with subs for the situations i call those plays in. I even go as far as to put run blocking wr's in formations i only run out of and always put my best blockers on the side i tend to run to more.
